The cruel prince should not be marketed as romance, so for anyone who has not read it yet just know that the romance is not the main focus at all
yessss!!!! I am so mad when people complain that is missing romance on books that aren't supposed to have romance. It is the same as reading a murder mistery book and complaining that there were a murder on the book (yes, that's the point).
The cruel prince isn't really a romance book. BUT if you continue to read the trilogy it's going to hit really REALLY hard. In the later books some things are revealed that make you wanna read the first book again because it just gives you a totally different perspective on Cardan and the things he does and say..... and let me just say one thing: THE LETTERS!! I literally started crying when I reached that part😭 This series is overall 6 Star read for me❤ Love it so much
I really enjoyed the storyline & am excited to continue the series! 🥰
Yea Cruel Prince is not a romance. There’s just a subplot of it but not what the series is about
Yes, I know :)
Whoever told you that cruel prince was a romantasy was out of their mind. Girl, this is a fantasy book, not a romance, not even a romantasy, yes there is romance, but it isn't the main plot. When the romance happens it is actually really good, but you shouldn't read cruel prince just waiting for the romance. It is not really fair of you to say you disliked a book because there isn't a lot of romance, when the book didn't even promise to have a huge romance plot.
YESSS, OMG I was just about to comment this. Tq for mentioned this. The bit and subtle hint of romance just a ‘sub-plot’ not the main plot..
yes! same with the other book. If you want romance, read a romance book!
Glad I read this comment, I was planning on reading Cruel Prince. I am happy to hear that there’s a new fantasy world I can get into thought 😊
you get it. i went into reading the book thinking it was a romantasy as well. i blame tiktok 😭
Oh my my thanks for that I was also wondering
It’s very refreshing to hear someone say they didn’t love the Cruel Prince! I didn’t really like it but all I ever hear is high praise for it. Every time I would pick it up it would just make me feel so negative and anxious because of the bullying.
Everyone has their own opinion I think you should not get affected by those who bully you..😊❤
I had the same feeling! I had high expectations for it but the story was making me anxious as well
Don't post your opinions online!
Yes!! I agree with you. The Cruel Prince gave me the ick lol.
12 hours + 12 hours definitely seems like the way to go 🙌
Yes!! 🤭
i'm actually obsessed with this thumbnail! can't wait to watch
Omg thank you so much!!! 🥹🩷
The Locke thing I figured it out pretty early on but it still was insane to see Holly black actually do it
A Study in Drowning isnt supposed to be a romance. Its more of a gothic/ womans fantasy read with a very small subplot of romance. It explores sexism and other topics through metaphors and analogies. That’s completly ok you didnt like it though it is sometimes quite slow but its one of my favorites so it was fun to hear your thoughts.
honestly i was bored with cruel prince book 1 until the end. it gets sooo much better and i rlly hope u continue the series!!
Yes!! Once I got to the halfway mark, it was so much fun. I’m excited to continue on in the series 🥰
I actually cannot wait to read the cruel prince and heartless hunter ❤ this was such a fun readathon Alexa 📚💌
Thank you!! 🥰 definitely fun fantasy reads!!
ALEXA… you have been onnnn your thumbnail game recently 🤭🤭 like tell me why each and every one of them eats

I recently found your channel and I just wanted to say I truly appreciate you’re putting the books title, author and your rating on the screen whilst you’re talking about it
ohhh yay im glad you're getting around to these books, your special editions are gorgeous and so are you!
Ahh love the cruel prince! It’s not a romance though wish it wasn’t marketed as that, it’s more of a political fantasy that happens to have a romance. It’s a pretty slow burn series so rough going into something like this with romance expectations. Great vlog!!
I actually missed commenting under your videos. Nowadays I always watch your videos on the TV. I always say ill comment on your videos but life is so busy. This is the first time I'm watching your video on my phone after like a 6-7 months. lol. I still watch all your videos and I am such a huge supporter of you always been there when you had 4.8k subs and now you have over 100k That's so crazyyyy ❤
I'm sure you will have a million soon. Lots of Love,

I love watching 24 hour readathon videos!
My vacation time ends after this weekend, so I decided to do one starting tomorrow
I love this video so much!!! And I love you Alexa! ❤❤❤ I also found the Cruel Prince to be quite slow but I hope the rest of the books are better for us both. I love your reading vlogs so much!
Thank you so much!! 🥰 I’m excited to continue the series!
I've just finished the series and I'm glad to see your video 😊🇵🇸 ❤ 🇪🇬
Aw!! Thank you!!
This vlog of the 24 hr marathon was such a fun video to watch.
I’m so glad you liked it 🥰

I totally understand what you mean when you say you don’t like long chapters because it look be a few days to get though one long chapter
Missed these videos so muchh. Love the editing of the videos as well.
okay but why is the cover of A Study in Drowning sooo cuteee 🤩
ur videos are the absolute cutest!! ilysm
Thank you so much!! 🥹
If you haven't read fantasy fiction "Voyagers of hell" yet, I would suggest you to grab your copy. It's indeed a fresh breath in fantasy genre.
I’ll have to check this out, thank you!
I actually finished The Cruel Prince fairly recently, and loved it! I thought it was an intricate read filled with palace intrigue and politics. I am looking forward to reading the next books soon. On another reading note, if you’re a reader like me, then Immersive Transalte is definitely for you. It’s basically a free browser extension that supports a wide variety of languages. You can use it to translate all your ebooks into any language. Are you a manga lover? There’s also a cool feature, where you can get accurate translations to the manga you’re currently reading, which is really great.
king of sloth is definitely my favorite so far in the series.
I laughed so hard because of your face on 11:49. The first time I read the cruel prince I also had troubles going trough the first half of the book, but in the end I loved it!
Could you maybe do a video where you talk about your annotation supplies? Like telling us the brands of the markers for example. I am looking for markers that do not print through the pages❤❤

Heartless hunter was my fav read for this month! I’m sure you’ll like it too 😊

Cruel Prince trilogy is still my favorite! It’s the last two books that make the series so good so I hope you give it a shot 🤞🏻🥰
I like your videos but it really seems like you don’t like fantasy. If you are only looking for the romance in every fantasy, then I feel like you should just read romance. Every fantasy book I’ve seen you read, you aren’t interested in the fantasy aspects. It’s okay for it to not be your thing!
She loves romantasy and romance. I think she loves lovey dovey books a lot. TCP is not that at all. So you may be right. Fantasy may not be her thing. At least as far I've seen. Whenever I see ppl come to that series for romance, I always know they'll be disappointed. 😂
I think it's because Cruel Prince was marketed heavily as romantasy with a lot of people making posts about the romance. Fantasy may not be her genre, but in romantasy the whole excitement is in that it's a romance set in another world or with a magical being, making romantasy something she typically likes.
Reading romance is all well and good, but what if someone wants a romance with fae? Or a romance set in a world with mermaids? That's what romantasy's there for. It is specifically made for romance to be the main plot, with the fantasy taking a bit of a back seat but still visible to make the romance feel more interesting. Which is why a lot of people hated Cruel Prince because the fantasy was the main plot instead of the romance, when the book's marketing and general fandom suggested the romance was the main plot.
Sorry for writing so much!! I just think that while, yes, fantasy is not her genre, she fully knows that. She picked up a book not realising it was fantasy and thinking it was romantasy, which imo gives her the right to go "where is the romance?".
I also wanna read Heartless Hunter, A Study in Drowning and The Cruel Prince series soon! I've heard really good things about all these books, so they intrigue me a lot🥰
omg I love the Saddle up shirt its so cute! You look so gorgeous in that color purple!! 💜
I literally love when she does these videos

Hi!! So the Sin of Sloth can refer to a lack of physical or spiritual effort, laziness, or spiritual apathy. Sloth is considered a sin because it can reflect a disinclination towards care, love, faith, and contribution, which are virtues that can help people discover their purpose and destiny. It can also be seen as a waste of life, as people may not use their talents to make a positive difference in the world. So I can understand why the first half might seem really slow in King of Sloth because that is kinda the whole meaning of the Sin. :)
Heyy!! I haven't ready any of the books, but I think the series Kings of sin is based on the seven capital sins. hance the names wrath, pride, greed, sloth... and since the sin of sloth implies lazyness, it makes a lot of sense you felt that he was so lazy and undriven!! :)
Yes!! I can’t remember if I put that part in the video or not, but I do talk about the title “sloth” & how it makes sense because Xavier’s character is definitely lazy 🥲 I didn’t even connect the titles to the seven sins… that’s honestly so cool !! I love her writing so much, I’m sad this one kinda flopped for me ):
Great vlog ❤. I didn't expect you to not really enjoy King of sloth because you're a huge Ana Huang fan (like me) but I can definitely see why it wasn't one of your favourites. I was also surprised that it wasn't a slow burn and I agree that it's different to a lot of her other books.
Thank you! 🩷 & yes 🥲 it just wasn’t my favorite of hers but I have hope for the next one!

You should read The Iron King series.
I loved looking at the art in my special edition of The Unmaking of June Farrow. I agree that everything made so much more sense after I finished reading the book and I loved it even more
Some romance book recommendations I have, as a girl that doesn't really gravitate to romance, would be books written by Hannah Bonam-Young. I love the characters she writes about and truly wish I could be friends with them ❤
I felt the same way about King of Sloth!! love Ana Huang's books but I got soooo bored half way through after that one spicy scene gave me an ICK (the one with the shoe...) It put me in my first slump of the year :( I ended up dnf'ing it with 100 pages left ugh
have you read the twin crowns trilology? It is my faveeeee
I have not! But I definitely want to get into that universe soon 🤭
i think a lot of people dislike the cruel prince because its marketed as a romance, but thats much more of a subplot and they then dont continue the series where the romance and world get much more intense/entertaining :(
In the video I mention how I really enjoyed the storyline & am excited to continue on in the series :)
u should read the naturals it’s so good
I would love to!
I hope you would love the wicked king and queen of nothing cus in this two there a many romance..and yes cruel prince was boring for me too..but as it was my first book so i gave it a 4 star..💗
I’m so excited to continue the series! 🩷 I really like the storyline so far & I hear that Jude & Carden get sooo much better
Yes and you will also get vibe of powerless a bit
Omg another one !!
🥰🥰
It's called king of sloth because that is one of the seven deadly sins!! The books are all named after one
Your so girl boss Alexa! Love ya❤❤❤

You definitely don’t get a lot of romance out of the cruel prince lol but I loved book 2 and 3 made me sob😭
Yes 🥺 but I’m SO excited to keep going because I do really love the world & storyline 🤭
Keep in the mind the romance is the subplot and it is a slow burn. It is not a fantasy romance
This is how you do a 24H readaton❤ cause we do need some rest, otherwise you just force yourself to read😅

Hello from India ❤
I have so much trouble with long chapters. Even if the story is really good, the second chapters are longer than 10 pages I check out
Alexa have you read Ana’s „if love“ series???❤
I have not! But I’d love to!
Have you read any books by Sarah Jio? I`m reading two books at the same time right now.. "The Look Of Love" by Sarah Jio & "White Chrysanthemum" by Mary Lynn Bracht. I`m further in on the "The Look Of Love" and I really like it. I read it in Norwegian, but I want to get it in English as well.
Never trust the person who told you The Cruel Prince was a romance again 🧍🏻♀️
Hahaha I know it’s not a romance! But I’m always seeking it out 👀
What Camera do you use ? The quality of your video is really good 💓
Hey Alexa hope you will enjoy reading cruel prince series..I have complete it by this year..love you *muah*💋to ur videos..Love from INDIA💗hope you know about India if you do pls reply yes😭i would be so happy😭
Thank you so much lovey!! 🥹🩷 I’m excited to continue the series!
I tried reading a Study in Drowning, I was bored at the beginning too, I had to DNF it
Try & push through!! Once you hit the halfway mark it gets sooooo good!
So many slow burns back to back makes me get into a slump.
I’m the same as you I started the cruel prince thinking it was a Romantasy and didn’t really like it. I wish people would stop promoting it as such!
Yes! But I did like the storyline & am excited to continue the series 🥰
Oh its my sweet Alexa. Hello, love. ❤❤
Hi 🥹🩷
Pls add pali books in your july tbr 🇵🇸🫶🏼
I despise cruel prince due to the immense amount of bullying.
Cool

I got it from probably smut book club!! They might have it available in their shop still! 💜
Wow 4 books in 2 days
Technicallyyyyyy 3.5 books 🤭
Have you read serpent & dove it is a witch and witch hunter it is ya and I really like it
I haven’t but I’ll have to check it out! I love the witchy vibes 🤭
I hate how ppl market the cruel prince as a romance and then ppl go in expecting alot of romance so people wait for the romance and when its not there they dont like the book nobody should go into cruel prince thinking its a romance its just a fantasy with a subplot of romance and even at that the romance is not the main point
Yes! I totally agree that it read more as a fantasy than romance. Overall, I really enjoyed the storyline & am excited to continue it!
@@alexaraye
What dose dnf mean?
Whats the name of the tik tok accoun that does the ai stuff? That sounds so freak cool!!
I really disliked cruel prince partly because I went into it thinking it was romance but I ate up the wicked king. I would really not consider the folk of air as a romance heavy series (haven’t read the third book) it’s more political than anythng else. I went into the wicked king knowing it was more politics heavy and that made me like the book a lot more
If you hadn't read Cruel Prince yet, why did you have a Cruel Prince mug, and the special edition?
I’m apart of a book sub that had the mug apart of one of the month’s books!
totally respect your opinion but i really want you to re-read king of sloth after a year or so, maybe you'll like it then! 😭😭
I went into The Cruel Prince knowing that it wasn't romance, but I still found it extremely bland and boring as a fantasy. Unpopular opinion but I never understood the hype around it.
I think the story around Jude was really interesting! I was just hoping for more romance unfortunately 🥲 I’m excited to keep reading through the series for the story though!
@@alexaraye The next two books in the series are better thou dw!! I hope you enjoy them.
