This may be the best version ive seen. Pavarotti sang this beautifully but he didnt have quite enough volume to be clearly audible above the orchestra, even with amplification. Senoir Fisichella's high C's seemed effortless and rang loud and clear and bright. What a beautiful voice, and powerful enough to frame this role even though he us clearly not a spinto, but perhaps a powerful lyric.

Que no es para Manrico... que es un tenor ligero...cuantas pavadas... Di quella Pira tuvo en Bjorling y Corelli a los mejores Manricos; y en Fisichella una gran interpretación despues de los años 50 y 60 que no se escuchaba cantarla en vivo con excelencia.
Quando qualcuno dice che Fisichella è fuori repertorio, si afferma il vero.. E' stato un eccellente tenore leggero, di stampo belcantistico.. Trovatore richiede una voce piena di lirico-spinto, anche un buon drammatico abbastanza agile va bene.. L'orchestrazione copre i tenori leggeri in queste opere, dove peraltro si richiede una voce eroica.. Cantarla in tono non significa necessariamente cantarla bene.. Il diapason è stato alzato nel corso dei secoli, non mi stupisco che molti tenori abbassino di mezzo tono l'aria... La cosa importante è la canna della voce, la solidità, la robustezza di emissione, l'intonazione, semplicemente il corpo del vero tenore spinto: Corelli, Del Monaco, Giacomini, Bonisolli sono esempi eccellenti
A parte Corelli... Bonisolli e del Monaco non erano certo impeccabili... Il primo solo estremi acuti voluminosi... Ma niente legato, niente argento... Ovviamente Fisichella si toglie uno sfizio (lo fece anche Kraus). Ma tecnica impeccabile, acuti, gusto... Unico vero problema di Fisichella... E non so spiegarmelo... Risultava avulso dall'orchestra e dai colleghi rispetto al "tempi".

I can’t believe some criticism thrown at this by arseholes who couldn’t stand beside him and sing it better nor substantiate there pointless remarks as an example singing a piece like this is not a purely mechanical procedure so I wonder if he being out in front of the orchestra it’s his main objective is to follow the wind section or think about a critic in the audience who like the comments probably come from are failed and frustrated nobodies
Although the top notes are very bright and ringing, his voice does not speak to me in the lower register. I'm not sure what it is. His top is great, so thats not it.
Not out of tempo. Alagna does the same thing. It’s the job of the conductor to follow the singer not vice versa. If you are a little ahead of the orchestra, you will be heard. Also Although I am no expert, Verismo opera as opposed to classical or baroque allows for more flexibility in tempo to express emotion. I have seen/heard this with tenors particularly. I wish a tenor would come on U tube and explain the whys and wherefores better than me.
Listened to a few clips of him now, and in every one he cannot keep time with the music. All over the place on his phrasing. His high notes are really quite exceptional, so perhaps he comes from the old Italian school that only cares about that.

Why would I check other videos in order to judge whether he is definitely lacking in stamina in THIS one??? I offered my honest opinion on this video, not a general judgement of the singer in general. This video does not convince. There could be many reasons for that including temporary lack of form or even illness. Singers are NOT machines that always sing the same way. Just because one person may usually sing well, it doesn't mean it is forbidden to judge a video fairly when they DON'T.

Superbly unmusical, almost constantly out of pace with the orchestra (faster than the orchestra, because lacking the stamina for longer phrases).. Great voice - but that's about it.

I adore this tenor, but just because one can sing something, doesn’t mean they should.
Fisichella is an intelligent singer.He knew what was for him and what was not. I personally am very grateful to hear him do this, it was terrific!

What's the point of being a tenor, let alone bel cantist, if you sing well everywhere else but the high notes
