His singing does remind one of Lauri Volpi at times. The latter probably had a larger voice. Fisichella was one of the best tenors of the 1980s. No one like this today.
We hear so many bad operaish singers these days. They use shitty techniques to hide the fact that they can not sing properly as a real opera singer. Anyway, he is a real tenor. He may be the last real tenor.
Beverly Salls was denied more than 10 times to get into Met due to disliked by the top guy, she did none at her prime time with Met. Only till the guy retired, she said yes into the met stage, 10 years, all shows sold out. But her younger years were totally out off the so considered highest level of opera house. Sometimes it is better to know nothing and just to enjoy real voice, instead of those human made error decisions, this guy is a shining example.
just like movie industry, marketing and packaging be so much more than the real stuff inside the box, it is a loss if not a crime to ignore this handsome voice in grand scale, if one be in recording and or opera house upper level artistic so called directors... shameful...

Maestro Fisichella was magnificent! In shared repertoire, I prefer him over Pav. Why on earth didn't the Met re-engage him for many years????
