I don't usually comment but, I just want to tell everyone about Josh and everyone we met at Haylett. My wife and I were in Michigan from Florida to visit family and made a detour just to go meet Josh, yes I am a fan, we drove over on July 3 just to meet him and look around at their place.
We met Josh and told him about visiting and not looking to buy that day, we own a travel trailer now, even though he knew we were not spending any money that day Josh talked to us and spent a good deal of time answering questions. We both decided that when it is time to get a new RV we will make the trip from Florida to Haylett to deal with them.
Thanks for stopping through and allowing us the opportunity to meet! Also, I greatly appreciate you sharing your experience with everyone!
I intend to start living full time in about 5 years. I know nothing about RVs. But I’ve been watching different videos here and there, but this channel is my top favorite.
The person in the video is very pleasant and talks like he would if you were one of his friends. He’s very knowledgeable and can tell you the good and bad with each model and who it would be right for.
Also, he shows things other people don’t. I’ve never seen anyone else show what a RV looks like when the slides are in. That’s important to be aware of.
I’ve never seen anyone get up on top of the roof and explain the type of roof, how it’s sealed etc.

I've never seen a couch in a RV bedroom before that's nice
Just read a scary RV story under another video about a couple that had purchased a brand new Coachman RV: "I just saw one of these while out camping. They asked about the auto leveling system and the dealer didn't know anything about it. They took it home and hit the auto level button and the left side rams started lifting and the right side ones did nothing. It almost tipped over the RV before they realized what was happening. they took it back and a level sensor had been installed upside down." That's what you get when you purchase an RV from people that don't use them! Yikes! You mentioned the limitations of dealers that don't go camping before, so I thought you'd find the story interesting. At the very least, it proves your point!
You can always buy it a dollar cheaper somewhere. But things like what you've described are the chance you take when doing so. As always: You get what you pay for.
Love the bedroom and Wow! What a shower setup!! I want those features! I haven't really noticed any higher luxury styles for mid bunk floorplans. My daughter would not be a happy camper without a private room to herself.
Most higher end fifth wheels tend not to have anything in the way of bunks. Pinnacle does make a middle bonus room. The North Point 377RLBH is an EXTREMELY popular and well executed middle bunk room you can see here: bit.ly/2Eusiej
Haylett RV I looked at your video on the 377. Something that caught my attention is the comment on insulated slideout floors. Being that they need to slide up and over the main deck I don"t see how any insulation can be added for a flush floor. In the winter, The floor under my dinette slide is brutally cold even with the rv skirt in place. Thanks for the recommendation!
The ability to provide protection to a slide floor has no bearing on if it's flush floor or above floor. The Flooring thickness actually becomes thicker on a flush-floor which helps.
Jayco adds a layer of their double sides reflective foil insulation to help keep hot/cold air on the appropriate side of the flooring. They do that through literally all their trailers and fifth wheels - even their most basic travel trailers.
Winter conditions can easily surpass what even the best fifth wheels are capable of handling w/o extra assistance. I Wouldn't doubt there are a few cold spots around the RV during more extreme use.
Rewatched to compare to something else and noticed the big towel rack in the shower. Man, I can see something new each time with this model. The details are awesome!

I guess I'm the opposite when it comes to carpet, just like my house, the fifth wheel I go on vacation with has to have carpet in the bedroom and the living room, after wearing shoes all day the last thing I want to do is put my sore feet on hard floor or have to wear slippers after wearing the shoes, if I got a fifth wheel like this, I would have to find someone who can install carpeting where it needs to be
This floor plan is excellent everything you need to live in full time especially if you staying in one spot for very long periods

Just received an email from Jayco on this specific floorplan and on the 37RLWS. At this time they are not able to delete the front sofa to add a traditional cap closet on these floorplans. Too many changes would be required to accommodate the front closet. Their front closets are deeper than the bed slides in these units can allow.

I spoke with the Pinnacle Brand manager about something like a work desk or split bench/desk combo. I think a lot of folks would find use from something like that. Turns your living room into something of daytime "Den"
@@JoshtheRVNerd Many couples would find that useful in the rear living area. Since the rear sofa and desk are non-structural items and would require not changes to the structure, a dealer should be able to easily swap them out when ordering. Especially with their in house cabinetry shop able to make just about anything. They could make a few alterations to their mid-bunk desk plans and add this as an option on all rear sofa models across the brand. What did they say when you inquired? The slide out desk over the fireplace is a great use of otherwise wasted space. However the times one can utilize the desktop is limited. When your partner wishes to watch TV (that's me 100% of the time) or when you're utilizing the fireplace for supplemental heat. Your legs would get mighty toasty and your head sore from your partner throwing stuff at you, from the comfort of the posh heated, massaging power reclining theatre seats, for blocking the TV. "MARTHA!!! Stop blocking the TV.".

No commitment, but seemed interested. Change of Operations (even seemingly small furniture things) is often something that is slow to be adopted. Every change, every option, every variance opens opportunities for human error. So they're always careful to see how the knee bone will connect to the leg bone.

Question for the RV Nerd.... Luxury features vs floor plan?
Right now I’m looking at a new Forrest river heritage glen 378FL. LOVE THE FLOORPLAN. I have 2 toddlers so the upstairs loft and huge living room is great. But on the other hand, in my area I can get a Montana high country 384br for a similar price. But I don’t love the floor plan. Does the heritage glen at least have the same structural quality as the Montana? Is it worth it in the long run to go with a more reputable model? Please, I need your help! Thanks.
A Heritage Glen is fine in its own right, but it's not on the level of a Montana. It's designed to be something that slides in below the price of a Cougar. Montana comparisons shouldn't even be in the picture.
It's like comparing a Ford Focus and Fusion to a Lincoln if that makes any sense.

I like it but it’s just not big enough for my family. We just moved to Washington state and we are full timing it for at least the next 4 years because I’ll probably be moving again after that.
I can’t find anything like the floor plan of the heritage glen 378fl right now. It’s gives you so much space and I really love it.
I understand it’s hard to compare the two, but I need your honest opinion...do you think I would be sacrificing to much if I go with the heritage glen over a Montana?
If you're buying based on floor plan, then you really don't have a choice based on the preferences you've mentioned. If you're buying based on product performance and value, then something like a Montana would be the answer.

Yes this is the one for me. It has “it” in spades no doubt lol. Something about that couch and the window in the bedroom and the stairs on the opposite side of the door..different and homey...homie lol. Hey umm..Mr. Josh forgive me if I missed it but how thick are the walls? I am going to be a full timer sooo..well, really don’t think they would lame out on the walls seeing how they built everything else to be the last one someone buys 😇. Just curious I am sure it’s well insulated. I am ordering my 2020 with every option including the electric loft all the way in back. Sweet. Kinda surprised the Televator isn’t all electric but it’s not a dealbreaker lol. Keep the videos coming great job and thanks for keeping it humorous.
Pinnacles have 2" walls and have never NOT been cold camp tested and proven. In fact, Jayco was the first major brand to publish their hot/cold camp testing data.
Currently Jayco does not build a fifth wheel that isn't tested and proven for at least 0-100 degree F use.
Thanks Mr. Josh. BTW, you DID mention a 2” thick wall when you were on the roof at the end ..my bad 😇. Now, quick story. I work for the local telephone co. here in Naples FL and I get lots of opportunities to see inside RVs but really have not paid attention over the last 28 years. But now!? Hyper-aware, because I am retiring soon and I’m hitting the road! So I get a job last week at local RV establishment and lo and behold my customer was in a Jayco North Point. Not sure what year. OK now I get to see one! I was..disappointed. It seemed claustrophobic and like a cave. I went back to the Jayco website, and I watched the video you made AGAIN, trying to figure out why why it seemed so...like a bear living in a cave lol. Was it the not-as-wide North Point? The not-as-high North Point? Yea but...but..it was something else I couldn’t figure out. And I think I know. YES the height and width but it’s the super slides that make a HUGE difference IMO. The gentleman had four small slides down stairs and they just felt...tiny. Compared to the Pinnacles two humongous downstairs slides and the huge upstairs slide..with a slide in a slide lol. Also, I now see why a lighter color wood might be the way to go. I mean..it was dark..(not judging! Super cool guy!) What I DON’T want is any claustrophobic bear in a cave feeling. (Fully understanding that I am buying an RV!! Don’t expect the Taj Mahal!) I now see the importance of windows, light colors, height and width, LIGHTING, as well as floor plan. So, as I struggle with the decision of a fifth wheel or diesel pusher, for me?, it’s back to a 50-50 thing still not decided . When I left the North Point I was like, OK it’s a diesel pusher. The way I see it I win either way, because it’s about enjoying the lifestyle! But so happy to be back looking at both and obsessing over both lol. @@johnnyryan8003 Sounds like your perspective may have been skewed by the floor plan you saw specifically, though it's hard to say. Sometimes an RV is like a pair of pants & you just have to try it on for size in the fitting room (aka dealership) before you take them home.

Personally I don’t like how the trim on the four corners of the island does not go all the way to the floor. I know why they did it but to me it just looks stupid, maybe they should’ve used a different type trim. Also more and more I’m wishing that more RVs would put their sink to one side instead of right in the middle of an island. My sink at my home is like that and I can tell you from experience it is very inconvenient as far as spice is concerned.

Be neat to design that faucet to be able to be pushed down into the island and have a cover to plop down snug and smooth into the hole. So the whole island can be used with the sink covers in place. 😊

Not from the factory, but something like a small ceramic space heater can easily get the job done.

I don't have hard dimensions on the front sofa, but it could easily sleep a single adult. Plus, you have the hide-a-bed and access to one of the recliners

You said that the second slide cant get a cover ,but you have one listed that all the slides have awnings,even the small slide in the slide .
I did. And at the time the video was filmed (not the posting date) that was accurate information. Since then that RV has sold, revisions and updates have been made, and we now have on hand one of those revised models with the additional slide awning.

Can you access the bathroom with the slides in?
Yes. If you notice near the beginning of the video when I have the slides in I actually step down the stairs. Meaning you can get to the stairs and the bathroom w/slides closed.

Haylett RV wOw that’s amazing looking at the size of the slide I thought for sure it blocked the bathroom. How awesome that it doesn’t! One more reason this one is for me.
Sorry i was sleep deprived. My 3/4 truck says 14,500 max tow. But payload is 2500 ibs. Seems like these things get heavy quick and 10 to 11k is max with the hitch weight. Is that a safe area to be around or am i getting into dually territory with that weight. Thx again hope this helps clear the question
They definitely do get heavy quickly. The upper deck super slide here in the hallway and bedroom is heavy enough, then add another slide on that and this one lands *solidly* in dually country.
Different models carry weight differently. They're all made with different purposes in mind. Paint us the picture of your needs and we'll get you camping.
The challenge of Dry Weight vs. Hitch Weight is part of the reason I think Cougar fifth wheels have really punched thru the market place.
What is the cost of this configured per the video? I'm contemplating buying this model for next year.

Curious what credit score needed to buy? Want to live full time RV.
Hi Angela! There are a lot of variables in RV Financing and there aren't specific credit score numbers. There's things like debt to income ratios, existing loans, history, and so many more factors my head spins.
Money down is also a significant factor. A lender may be more willing to work with someone with a little lower credit score if they have money down vs. someone with a higher credit score with zero down.
I am not a finance "expert" by any means but I know our financing staff is pretty good about finding you the best rate and term for which you're qualified.
I would recommend having a private conversation with a team member & sharing what sort of range you feel your credit score may be in. They can relay that information to one of our finance specialist who can provide you an idea of a few payment options.

3,200lb empty hitch weight. You're up there and likely a client for whom some sort of suspension assist would be beneficial for highway stability.
How deep is the washer and dryer cabinet? Also, can you get a residential refrigerator?
Exact storage measurements aren't a spec Jayco provides. One of our team can measure it out for you if it's an important item in your decision making process. No sweat.
Resi-fridges are available. We're generally not fans of them. We've found their service records to be less than what we deem acceptable and the lack of backup in the event of power loss is a major problem.
The Resi-fridge itself might be better insulated, but that's easily overcome with slide awnings to shade the slides like you see here.
Haylett RV this will be a full time live aboard situation so the residential fridge is desirable

Be nice to have a Murphy bed type system in the bedroom then close off that window and put a nice entertainment center in its place. Now that floor plan would be perfect for individuals using the RV has their office space. 😉😊
I have a question what are your thoughts on the Chaparral 373 by Coachmen
Overall I think Chaparral does some great things. They've never quite yet found the punch thru the market as an Eagle or Cougar in that class however. Respectable brand in its own right. That 373 is an uncommon model & I think suited for a few specific niche uses. We tend to keep our offerings focused more in the "mainstream" segment of the markets

If a brand builds any, then typically they only build one model with that feature. Many brands build no slide-in-a-slide models.
Why a slide within a slide and not just one slide thats equally as deep...
The engineering completely changes & causes clearance problems with other items (like walls).

I hope you haven't been buying into this "R40" and "R52" false information that's being thrown out there right now. Might be good for you to see these videos:

Jayco's roof R-Value might be something like a 28 or 30, but that's an *actual* value -- not a calculated value with an * next to it (which you'll notice most MFGs don't bother explaining that * next to their R-Values).
Yet, despite having lower R-Values Jaycos have among the very best hot/cold proven, tested performance on every single floor plan.
You need to research performance. Not R-Values. You can make up R-Values. You cannot falsify 3rd party tested performance.
