    I found a snail attached to the bottom of my front door. I pulled it off and threw it over the fence into next doors garden.
    A year later there's a knock on my front door, I opened it and looked down, there's the same snail again.

      Snail over-population problems are usually caused by too much food in the aquarium. Snails reproduce in proportion to their food supply. Reduce the food, eliminate the need for the snail-on-snail violence.

    I had a dead rasbora in my tank yesterday. I filmed my assassin finding it, then manoeuvring it so it could go in through it's mouth! I filmed it in time lapse and you could actually see the rasp, deep inside the fish. It was eaten from the inside out. Grotesque but fascinating. They are really quite amazing creatures

    • @TheDave333
      @TheDave333  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      They really are amazing yet disturbing creatures! They don't have very strong mouthparts, so when they start feeding, they typically go for the softest spot that they can find. On a fish that's through the mouth or behind the gill cover. And this is the reason they can't attack and eat animals with hard shells like shrimp. Thanks for watching the video and sharing your experience.

    Brutal. I am surprised to learn that they don't possess any harpoons, or toxins, like the cone snails. I had just assumed they did. Didn't know that ramshorns had haemoglobin either.

    • @TheDave333
      @TheDave333  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      They do secrete digestive enzymes that help liquify their prey. So, there's always that nightmare! They used to be considered a close relative of the cone snails (Conidae) , but taxonomists now realize that they're more closely related to mud snails (Nassariidae).
