My parents lent me this movie after it came out. Shortly after I finished watching it my high school friend from Hong Kong came over to stay with me for a couple months because his father died. He told me he just watched the movie on the flight. We watched it again, and I have to say it took all I had not to cry. The thought that he sacrificed his life to put people in prison and protect the Hmong family really got to me. Even though my friends parents couldn’t speak English there was a mutual respect and they treated me like family. I miss them dearly and I will never forget them.
