Like genetics and luck has nothing to do with it. A “man’s man” can simply will himself through all of life’s struggles because he’s different, special, got a real secret knowledge.
What a load of CRAP! By that reasoning, John Wayne, Ward Bond, Steve McQueen, Robert Shaw and Yul Brenner were all Pussies!

He is best, playing western movies and as Dirty Harry, but if one should look at him more as an actor, he was really great in White hunter, black heart and in the movie, In the line of fire. Honky tonk man is not that memorable, as a movie, but Eastwood was magnificent in the role, even Play Misty for me was great acting. One of his greatest movies for me, The Outlaw Josey Wales, that´s what I call a great movie.

Clint Eastwood was in the US Army during the Korean War. He never went to Korea, but he was riding back seat in an early-model Skyraider that had to ditch off the California coast, out by Marin. The water there is cold and infested with great white sharks, and it was at night. Clint swam a mile or more to shore, then walked until he found a home where he could call for help.

Saw the man in Idaho in a Safeway store in 83 or 84. Sometime around 'Pale Rider' which they shot up around Sun Valley, Idaho.
I'm 6 foot but still had to look up to see his eyes. Didn't talk to him, because he was, of course there to get away from the publicity and fans. He bought a steak and a bottle of wine. I didn't realize who it was until I heard him talk to the cashier.
    You cannot mistake that voice.
Didn't ask for an autograph, just stood back and gazed on in admiration. Lots of folks in the movies have houses up in Sun Valley. We just left them alone and didn't bug them. Live and let live.

that's what I always loved about Clint Eastwood. the roles he played like this character just really draws you in. It's not like most movies with some guy playing some macho hero. Here (Gran Torino) Clint's character is someone you can relate with. just a ordinary (or so it seems) everyday old man who stands up to some punks. When most of us would turn the other cheek and keep walking instead of helping.
