Now that's the back bone of a hard working family in America. He deserves all recognition for his hard work and so does his wife for supporting him. Not every man gets to do what he loves for a living. America needs more families like them. I'm glad he won the award, well deserved!!!!!!!
It's about time Marianna gets recognized for something positive. I attended this Anna Middle and Lee High School and graduated from that city. Everyone loves that bbq place and I'm glad he got appointed for his and his wife's hard work!
That's the damned truth Malcom! They are great hardworking people. Mama grew up in Marianna and dad was from Brinkley. We always fought over which one was better, Jone's or Craig's, but Mr. Jone's sauce is the best I have ever tasted, period.
Brought tears to my eyes. Had never been on a plane and his first vacation since graduating high school. For those reading this and complaining about their lives, watch this video again five times!
I live about 2 hours from this place and it is ABSOLUTELY worth the 4 hour round trip drive. I have had BBQ all across this country. I have traveled to almost every state and have been all over the world. I’ve had amazing meals in Rome, Paris, Athens, etc., but no meal I have ever had compares to this BBQ. Truly. Mr. Jones is the nicest man, as well. You walk in, get your sandwich, grab a can of Coke from his refrigerator and chow down. Absolute bliss.
I do not eat pork, but I do love beef ribs. Thank you for your excellent videos. Stay safe and blessed. My husband was born and raised in West Helena, and I was born in Chicago, where we met in 1969. R.I.P. David.
My absolute favorite Bar BQ shop! I remember as a kid eating Jones Bar BQ when I would go visit my grandparents and the rest extended family In Marianna. Now, my dad and I frequent Jones Bar BQ often when we head over towards Marianna on duck hunting trips.
That's my home town. My Big Momma's house is right behind the cinder block Pitt. RIP Mr. Hubert and Mrs. Honey . you would have been so proud of this moment. But that was not the only sandwich. When i was a girl, they also sold bologna sandwiches with the coleslaw and yes they were good as well. On any given day my Big Daddy would say , "go over and tell Mr. Hubert to send me some of those skins." LOL.
My Father's side of the family is from Marianna, Arkansas and my parents would bring some back whenever they traveled to Arkansas. On my last visit, Mr. Jones was nice enough to give me a tour and talk about our families. I never had the coleslaw and it was delicious on the pulled pork. Whenever I travel there I call in advance for my order. At least 5-6 lbs.
Gail, you have to try it! It's the absolute best. My family is from Marianna, AR and has been enjoying his barbecue since inception more than 80 years ago!
A old man told me a long time ago " When you're cooking BBQ cook it the way you like and you'll never go wrong !" He was right every time I BBQ there is nothing left! I'm from the Forrest City area and I've never had his Q but I will next time I'm home . I actually like the woman's BBQ that lived down the street from Jones ....she was heavy set and had a white bread van in her front yard right around the corner from old Sonic's.
What a distinguishing award. Aabout time a good down home restaurant wins one. Awesome. Gonna travel to Arkansas just to have one. Dang that looked scrumptious
I'm going to have to look up where Mariana is now. Weu used to go to Arkansas all the time to get up in the mountains and to go fishing or kayaking. Eating bbq would be a reason to go all by itself.
I'm loving it down south arkansas BBQ I grow up eating 😋 south food because I'm from osceola arkansas the best BBQ in the south baby so so 😋 👌 good 👍 😋
@LLoyd Boyd, I think you're talking about Ms. Marie. I also liked the bbq place out on Hwy 1 at Cypress Corner. We definitely had our pick of good bbq in Marianna... haven't found any here like it. Gordon Siders I think it is a acquired taste by hometowners.
I heard about and made my way out there while on the road. They said the extra 100 miles out my way would be worth it. That was over 20yrs ago. I still remember that taste. I've tried to figure out the slaw and Bbq sauce. Now,I can bbq my ass off. It's only because I been chasing how I could make better slaw and Bbq sauce. People love it,but truth is I'm no where near,Dudes level. He only some deep ancestral stuff. He be invoking his ancestors to guide him through the process. I'm sure because that shit isnt human. That taste is still in my mouth after 20yrs.
Looks like our little town in Georgia.. Small town hard working folks should get recognized more.. We're what makes this country go round. What would the cities do without us? Don't see any corn fields or cattle in the city..
Gail has been going to the wrong barbecue joints...! If I walk into a barbecue joint and they have a white tablecloth and/or wine list... back out the door I go...! (Ask Gail if Arthur Bryant's, LC's or Gates BBQ has a wine list or white tablecloths...???)
The food looks good, but did anybody notice that he took dirty money with his glove still on his hand, and then grabs a telephone, and then sticks his hand and a thing of barbecue with the same gloves?
I live close, and had for the first time a few weeks ago, it is served on plain white bread, bbq sauce and meat were blah, wasn't good to me. I will not ever eat there again.
No...sorry. They did the story on the wrong location in Arkansas for FINE BBQ!! I have eaten here a couple of times. Jones BBQ is not bad, but almost ALL BBQ is not "bad"...most is GOOD. It's the LITTLE things that make BBQ sandwiches special. Jones's uses plain white sandwich bread for the bun...which makes for a very soggy BBQ. The STORY should have been done in Blytheville, AR. Just some FYI about Blytheville BBQ...Here are just a FEW of the longtime BBQ Stands and restaurants in Blytheville. In no particular order...Dixie Pig, Kream Kastle, Penn's BBQ, Yanks BBQ, Benny Bob's BBQ, The Little Red Trailer at Hays BBQ... NOPE, no comparison. You're talking OVER 225 YEARS of BBQ'ing experience just in little OLE Blytheville, AR!!!
Yes, I have. Only once though. Was not a fan, but I also don't want to base my opinion on eating at a place just one time. I have friends that absolutely love Craig's, but for me (the one time anyway)...nothing more than average.
these animals from where that meat was taken, live in a tiny cages without room to walk around.. their brain releases hormones in their body.. when you eat that meat... you eat the pain, the despair, the anxiety, the stress, the sadness and the fear of the animal..
+Marvin Forssander-Baird Im guessing its vegan bbq tofu pork. I read that the chemicals in the fake smoke flavor and dyes in the fake smoke ring, not only kills taste buds. But also kills brain cells.

@@sister9670 My family is from Marianna, Arkansas and the Freeman's are relatives.
Malcom Freeman from Arkansas too we don’t get much recognition do we bruh
This is the best story on BBQ I have seen.
I have to agree and I read and watch bbq videos all the time.
Brought tears to my eyes. Had never been on a plane and his first vacation since graduating high school. For those reading this and complaining about their lives, watch this video again five times!
Occasionally we recognize people who really matter. Congratulations again!
This makes me feel happy, that the American dream can be accomplished through hard work and dedication.
The murrican dream is a myth and the US has failed, get with the times.
The American dream is still alive and well but you have to actually work for it and not be a lazy dirt bag

I've eaten their barbecue many times and it is hands down the best restaurant barbecue I have EVER had.
I do not eat pork, but I do love beef ribs.

That's awesome
Thank you for sharing that memory. 😊
@@doctordoomscousin9181 it's not fried bologna, it's the bbq bologna that she is talking about
You know it is so good. If only we had smell a vision. Wonderful award for him and his family.
Wouldn't surprise me in the least if it's the best. Gotta love places like this. One of the many great things about living in the south.

Came for the foot massage. Was not dissapointed.

Awesome. I'm drooling and I dream of sinking my molars into that masterpiece.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It burned down a few months ago. But they're rebuilding.
I ended up on the wrong thing. This is a nice story but I was looking for Jones BBQ and Foot Massage.
The sauce is chili powder pickle juice Dr Pepper onions

$3, he's giving the food away. In Nashville that'll be $6 to $7.50, depends on where you go.
Nice story. Suppose to use wood and not charcoal or gas grills. Suppose to smoke it and not use flame.
Already had it. It was just OK. Still prefer the McRib
That place burnt down after further research.. sad….
Good for Ole skool....
6 dollars a pound 🤯

Jones bbq and foot massage
The food looks good, but did anybody notice that he took dirty money with his glove still on his hand, and then grabs a telephone, and then sticks his hand and a thing of barbecue with the same gloves?
So no FOOD HANDLING/health codes? He was touching money and the phone with his gloves!
I live close, and had for the first time a few weeks ago, it is served on plain white bread, bbq sauce and meat were blah, wasn't good to me. I will not ever eat there again.
+Gordon Siders probably the sauce or the slaw that you didn't care for ... not everyone likes vinegar sauce and only certain slaws
Wonder bread? Well what ever works I suppose, but BBQ might go better on an onion roll.
