Great breakdown. I am amazed at the myriad of little differences between the M96 and M97. Both have too many electrical connectors!

I know you already changed the transaxle mounts (from hello) and you said you were going to change the front mount also (video). Function 1st make urethane infills in 3 different durometers; soft, sport and race in case this interests you.

Hey Aaron - really looking forward to this series, especially since we didn't get to see the rebuild on the BBB series. Not sure how far along you are on the tear down, but if it's not too late (or perhaps on the reassembly) can you spend some time showing or explaining how the variocam system works? I have been troubleshooting a timing problem on my 2005 Boxster base 987 most of the summer and am wondering how the variocam plays a role in adjusting the timing on the intake cam. One thing I noticed on your Cayman motor is that it appears to have 2 of the "throttle control elements" (variocam solenoids) per bank where my Boxster only has the one closest to the cam gear. Not sure if that is a model year difference or a base vs S difference. Anyways, would love to gain some insight while you're in there. Can't seem to find any videos on TH-cam that explains how the variocam works on the M96/M97 3 chain engines. Thanks!

+Jeremy Pringle thanks for the interest! I don’t know much about them myself, but maybe I can ask during the rebuild 🍻
