I really like the alternate tracklist you made for HTTT because instead of trying to make the album into something it's not, it just tweaks and refines whats so great about the original
I remember someone bringing up the idea of dividing the album into two distinct sides. One would be the more normal, traditional rock side, and the other would be the more experimental and electronic side. I thought it was a cool idea, so that's what I tried to do. Side 1 1. 2+2=5 2. Sit Down. Stand Up 3. Sail To The Moon 4. Go To Sleep 5. There, There 6. I Will Side 2 1. The Gloaming 2. Backdrifts 3. A Wolf At the Door 4. Scatterbrain 5. Myxomatosis 6. Where I End and You Begin The first three tracks would stay the same. 2+2=5 is a perfect opener, and SDSU follows it up perfectly. I also like how Sail To The Moon switches up the energy of the album. Go To Sleep is another more low-key song, and it has very natural sounding instrumentation, so I think it makes a good transition from Sail To The Moon into There, There. I Agree that There, There works best towards the middle of the album, and I Will is a perfect breather after that song in my opinion, although I do really like your idea of using it as a bookend for the album. I Will basically serves as a transition into the second side of the album. Having The Gloaming here makes it feel more significant as the opener to Side 2. I also think it works well as an introduction to the more experimental second half. Backdrifts basically builds off of the same sound of The Gloaming, being super electronic and experimental. A Wolf At the Door can be swapped with Where I End and You Begin, but I really like WIEAYB as a closer, so this was the best place I could think to put it. Going from Backdrifts into this song would probably be a bit jarring, but I think A Wolf At the Door sets up the last three songs really nicely. Myxomatosis and Scatterbrain work really well together imo, so I still wanted them to be next to each other, but I felt switching them was better for the overall flow of this version of the album. Like I said, I really like this song as a closer. The end of the song has a climactic end of album feel to it imo. Ending on the lines "I will eat you alive" would be super dark, but I think it would fit the album very well. Although, Wolf At the Door is an equally good closer. I just wanted to do something a bit different. I'm full agreement with you that the original track list is pretty much fine. HTTT is my third favorite Radiohead album, because of how chaotic and raw it feels compared to other Radiohead albums. With that being said, the less coherent nature of this album makes it really fun to make alternate track listings for it.
Thank you! And oh yeah I forgot that Animals did that. The Wall kinda does it too with the "isn't this where we came in?" thing. And I think Dark Side of the Moon does something similar? I'm going off the top of my head, but, damn, I love Pink Floyd so much. Would love to do a video on them one day. But where do I start? Maybe Meddle.
@@pookapeeka do something like a deep-discog dive! like a beeg video. I think you covering everything they've done would be awesome, maybe a cool multipart series

Just listened to HTTT for the first time ever today (I’m a newer fan). Wanted to save this album for tail end of my listening experience, so now I just have AMSP left! Had no idea there was a significant interest among fans to reorder/refine this album. I find it very cool, since it gives the album (as a cohesive piece of art/culture) all the more meaning. Thanks for making this order and this video! 🎸 Also, just watched my first saw film last night, so the inclusion of the picture towards the end was uncanny. 💀
My tracklist: 1. Creep 2. Let Down (Underrated) 3. Pop is Dead 4. Yellow 5. Fitter Happier 6. Creep (Very 2021 Remix) 7. Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors 8. Anyone Can Play Guitar
Damn this vid is something I always hoped of making discussing hail to the thief in depth, but you did this far better than I ever could Keep this stuff up man!
I like what you did with the og version of 'I will' at the start and the Los Angeles version at the end. And to make it better, We should re-name the Los Angeles version 'Will I?' like, as you said before, what happened in the album 'Rust Never Sleeps'. Feels like a good touch
I tried your playlist and I think it sounded pretty good! The only thing I'd change is I Will ( los Angeles vers.) with Gagging order, cause the calming acoustic to end the album with lyrics that, ironically, fits pretty well imo, like the chorus part; "Move along now, there's nothing left to see. Just a body, nothing left to see" -implicated that the album is over, move along with your life and eat some breakfast and a nice cup of tea, just to take the edge off.
Now, I do agree with everyone that a wolf at the door can't be beaten to cover the ending of the album's narrative. From my point of view , I see the song I Will as a prologue and Gagging Order as an epilogue, basically like reading a book that has an introduction and a conclusion. To add on that ( and perhaps I'm also over analysing this album waaaay too much), iirc Thom yorke wanted to adopt a strategy to filter the political themes in the album into childlike simplicity, by adding phrases and themes from fairy tales and folklores in children's literature and television. I stand on that information because I've always felt like the whole album is like an audiobook for "kids", aka their fans, voiced by Thom , to sit down ( or stand up) and listen.
You should definitely check out the remixes I used by themselves, I have them linked in the description, they're from a channel called longestsoloever and he made a whole album of classic Sonic remixes and they're all fantastic.
2+2=5 not being first is diabolical. I've grown quite nostalgic to the sound of the intro on my portable dvd player, since it was the first ever radiohead CD I've ever got.
i really liked that edit you did going from the left ear to the right ear in between songs. it adds a lot to the atmosphere while listening to music. another great video by pooka de peeka

Loved this video!! Your stuff never disappoints. Here's my HTTT tracklisting. Split it up into two sides like a record. SIDE ONE - 25:12 1. 2 + 2 = 5 2. Backdrifts 3. Sail To The Moon 4. Myxomatosis 5. Go To Sleep 6. A Punch Up at a Wedding SIDE TWO - 21:58 1. There, There 2. Sit Down. Stand Up 3. The Gloaming 4. Scatterbrain 5. I Will (album version) 6. A Wolf At The Door TOTAL RUNTIME - 47:10
I did something similar once- I decided to make it a shift from autumnal nocturnes to a rainy dystopian nightmare. The tracklist I ended up with was: 1. There There 2. Scatterbrain 3. Sail to the Moon 4. Where I End and You Begin (the transition from the latter to this is amazing) 5. 2 + 2 = 5 6. Sit Down. Stand Up 7. The Gloaming 8. Myxomatosis 9. We Suck Young Blood 10. A Wolf at the Door This way it goes from this gorgeous acoustic and autumnal fall feeling to this glitchy mad feeling by the end of the album. The sequencing between 3 --> 8 is like a descent into madness. By WSYB as the penultimate track, you've pretty much lost it.
I also did Amnesiac. The result was: 1. The Amazing Sounds of Orgy 2. Pyramid Song 3. Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors 4. If You Say the Word 5. Hunting Bears 6. I Might Be Wrong 7. Dollars and Cents 8. Kinetic 9. Fog 10. Like Spinning Plates 11. Life in a Glasshouse
My track list: 1. 2 + 2 = 5 2. There, There 3. We Suck Young Blood 4. 2 + 2 = 5 Again 5. Myxomatosis 6. I Am Citizen Insane 7. Whatever Happens 8. 2 + 2 = 5 Because I Like 2 + 2 = 5 9. Cuttooth 10. Pop Is Dead 11. Broken Bass Bin 12. Everything In Its Right Place But Extended to be 33 Minutes Long 13. The Gloaming 14. Last Flowers 15. Rock N Roll McDonalds 16. 2 + 2 = 5 17. Wonderwall 18. The Amazing Sounds of Orgy 19. Open Pick 20. True Love Waits 21. I Will, but the Climbing Up The Walls screaming plays in the background for the rest of the song 22. 2 + 2 = 5 23. Avril 14th 24. Fitter Happier 25. Fitter Happier 26. Fitter Happier 27. Fitter Happier 28. Fitter Happier 29. Creep
The band saying it was too long is ridiculous. Fans shouldn't have complained. You got more music. Rhcp took on the ambitious project of making stadium arcadium. A 28 song record that is for me their best record and at least for the majority of rhcp up in the top 3. It ended up being 122 minutes and feels like a great musical journey. Now rhcp and Radiohead are two very different bands but my point is don't judge a record by looking at the runtime and saying it's too long.
Right man. It was pretty standard for some artists to max out the limit of a CD to make sure that the listeners got the most bang for their buck. Soundgarden, RHCP, and especially a LOT of hip hop artists. Radiohead claiming a 55 minute album is overkill is just kinda goofy.
Your tracklist is what got me to love HTTT! I tried listening to both the original and W.A.S.T.E tracklists, but it didnt fit well for me. Yours fit well though Personally, I would modify your tracklist to put Scatterbrain after Go To Sleep since Myxomatosis -> A Wolf At The Door -> I Will (LA ver) is such a perfect order that I CAN'T let Scatterbrain ruin it's downspiral feeling. I'd also replace I Will (the 1st track) with its extended intro version. Otherwise, all other tracks and their orders are intact Thank you so much for sharing this tracklist to us and discussing the reasons why!
My Tracklist: 1: Pop is Dead 2: "Yeah" Queen Cover (Special Made for this reimagined version) 3: Like Spinning Plates (Twice. First reversed, then normal) 4: Feral 5: The entirety of the Suspiria soundtrack, but sped up to a degree where it's 9:12 seconds long (9:12 -> 9/12, as in the day the Creep single was released (for Americans, that is.)) 6: Hunting Bears 7: I Will (Old Version) 8: Thinking About You 9: True Love Waits 10: Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors
my personal tracklist 1. Don't Panic 2. Shiver 3. Spies 4. Sparks 5. Yellow 6. Trouble 7. Parachutes 8. High Speed 9. We Never Change 10. Everything's Not Lost
this channel is like cybershell but for radiohead. man i love this saying punchup should be cut from the tracklist and used as a bside is a crime though. that track is fucking incredible
I desperately wish someone would do this for Blur’s 13 album. Not that its order needs to be changed but anyone dissecting the album would be insanely great.
No I’ve always loved that. You get a milder version of that on in rainbows, heck even on their previous album. On think tank they follow this dynamic too, it’s like they need an upbeat song to pierce through the slow songs every now and again. Bugman acts as song 2 on the album. I’ve heard a few people say this and though it’s there a bit, I’ve never seen it as jarring. Bugman is the quintessential song to follow Tender.
I tried doing some transitions with this tracklist and I really liked how it turned out, I Will (LA) as a closer is really good and some songs work really great together (There There/WIEAYB or 2 + 2 = 5/The Gloaming), nice work!
My tracklist is super simple, I call it _Half Of The Thief:_ *1) 2 + 2 = 5* *2) Sit Down. Stand Up* *3) Go To Sleep* *4) Where I End and You Begin* *5) There, There* *6) Myxomatosis* *7) A Wolf At the Door* From 14 songs, 56 minutes, to 7 songs, 28 minutes. Cut it in *half.* Like a *thief.*
And I have another playlist called _Rest Of The Thief,_ which is just the 7 songs cut out in the order they appear. All pretentiousness aside, I think it's fun to listen to the album like this and jump between A & B.
My Tracklist (If it were reworked): 1. 2 + 2 = 5 2. Myxomatosis 3. Sit Down. Stand Up 4. Go To Sleep 5. Backdrifts 6. The Gloaming 7. There, There 8. Where I End and You Being 9. Sail To The Moon 10. We Suck Young Blood 11. I Will 12. A Punch Up at a Wedding 13. Scatterbrain 14. A Wolf At the Door
I did my own version of an alternate HTTT tracklist a few months because I liked some of the ideas and flow of the "WASTE" tracklist, but other parts were an issue for me, so I restructured it slightly and added one song, while trying to keep it more "official" rather than one that changes things just for the sake of it. Here's my alternate take: 1) 2+2=5 (perfect opener, maybe my favourite radiohead song, too) 2) Myxomatosis 3) I Will (I kept this because it's more important to the album, transition to Punchup should be removed in this version) 4) There There 5) The Gloaming 6) Sail To The Moon (With the same transition into Sit Down. Stand Up you had in your video as it flows really well) 7) Sit Down. Stand Up 8) Go to Sleep 9) Where I End and You Begin 10) Scatterbrain 11) A Wolf at the Door
my take 1 - I Will 2 - 2 + 2 = 5 3 - The Gloaming 4 - Sail To The Moon 5 - Go To Sleep 6 - Where I End and You Begin 7 - We Suck Young Blood 8 - There There 9 - Sit Down. Stand Up 10 - Myxomatosis 11 - Scatterbrain 12 - I Will (Reprise/LA Version) 13 - A Wolf At The Door
personally, i'm not that good at alternate album sequencing, but here's how my version would go: 1. 2+2=5 2. the gloaming 3. paperbag writer 4. backdrifts 5. go to sleep 6. myxomatosis 7. there, there 8. i will 9. sail to the moon 10. sit down, stand up 11. scatterbrain 12. a wolf at the door also side comment, i really love how your version ends and begins with 2 versions of "i will", kinda reminds me more of how system of a down did the same concept, beginning and ending their double album with two versions of "soldier side"
HTTT disc one: (Thoms version + I Will in between Go To Sleep and WIEAYB) Disc two: 2+2=5 LA Version Gagging Order Backdrifts I Will LA Version Punch Up Paperbag Writer We Suck I Am Citizen Insane I Am Wicked Child Fog (Again) Where Bluebirds Fly
Classic pookapeeka vid. Yt needs more people with this sense of humor and great content. Anyhow, httt has always been an album I’ve loved and alternate tracklists for it are usually pretty good. I personally wouldn’t remove We Suck Young Blood (I quite like it) but you could make Punchup a b side and remove the Gloaming and potentially scatterbrain (no hate, just isn’t a strong one IMO). Something like that would be good for me. I also love how I Will bookends your version, reminds me of how PF does.
Tracklist i came up: 1. 2+2=5 Works way too well as an opener 2. The Gloaming 3. Backdrifts I figured putting the more glitchy electronic tracks earlier on would make more sense, plus these two transition very well 4. Where I End And You Begin 5. Sit Down Stand Up These two also go well with eachother and are more the electronic side 6. Sail To The Moon 7. We Suck Young Blood 8. Paperbag Writer I figured putting the two piano songs together would make sense and Paperbag could carry the eerie vibe from We Suck Young Blood 9. Go To Sleep 10. A Punch Up At A Wedding 11. There, There These there are fairly energetic tracks so they could go together, plus the transtion from Punch Up isn't that bad as well 12. I Am A Wicked Child Cooling down a bit 13. Myxomatosis (I might swap this one with I Will) 14. I Will 15. Scatterbrain 16. A Wolf At The Door Two slower songs right before A Wolf at the Door 17. Fog (again) (live) - Hidden Track I love this one way too much to leave it out (sorry for my shit english)
A pretty good track list I made. 1. 2 + 2 = 5 2. Sit Down Stand Up 3. Go To Sleep I swapped out Sail To The Moon because I don't really feel like it follows up SDSU's energy, Go To Sleep works a little better I feel. These three songs are a chaotic opening to the album that set the mood well while flowing great. 4. A Punch Up at a Wedding this song works well to kinda carry on some of that energy, but also as a way to set up the next few. 5. Sail to the Moon 6. Where I End and You Begin 7. I Will SttM and WIEaYB both are electronic/piano focused tracks that work well to follow Punch Up. WIEaYB works very well to create a sort of Karma Police affect by leading into I Will. The pure chaos of WIEaYB works well to contrast the focused clarity of I Will. 8. Gagging Order Gagging Order helps to keep the mood steady after the chaotic twist of WIEaYB into I Will, and keeps the themes, and minimalist vibe from I Will going. The fade out at the end of I Will also doesn't really harm Gagging Order too much in the grander flow of things. 9. Scatterbrain 10. There There Scatterbrain helps to build up the tension, and the layers of instrumentation, building up into There There, which acts as a major explosion, propelling us into the last few songs. I also feel that putting Scatterbrain here gives it more room to really sink in. My biggest gripe with the original order is that Scatterbrain gets sandwiched between two faster paced, and more hyped songs, thus not giving this slow somber love song room to express itself on the album. 11. Myxomatosis this song keeps everything in motion, and works as the perfect follow up to There There's explosion 12. Backdrifts 13. The Gloaming Backdrifts works pretty well after Myxo, and works extremely well going into The Gloaming. 14. Fog 15. A Wolf At the Door It is a real shame Fog never made it on an album as it works as the perfect penultimate song. I use the Amnesiac B Side version of the song, but I'd imagine a new rendition would have been recorded if this was the order they had went with. A Wolf At the Door works way too well as the final song. Overall, my goal for this track listing was mainly to make something that felt like an odyssey into the mind of an insane person, and to keep the disjointed, chaotic feel of the original while improving the flow. I think I did a decent job, but there are prob better ones out there. This one just works for me. We Suck Young Blood was mainly excluded because I couldn't find space for it that actually worked towards the flow of the album. I hope this wasn't too long.
No you're fine man, I love long discussion-y comments, I really appreciate you taking the time to do this! Especially with adding a little commentary to explain why you ordered the tracks the way you did. Although I would love to see if you could find a way to incorporate Backdrifts into it somehow.
@@pookapeeka I may try to find a spot for it again. Iteration is the best way to make a good track listing! Maybe could work in place of The Gloaming, idk. I like the song a lot as well, so it's a massive shame that I haven't found a good spot for it yet.
@@pookapeeka A little update: Myxo into Backdrifts into The Gloaming into Fog works scarily well. Will be changing that hopefully permanently towards my track listing. Thanks!
While I really enjoy this video, and I’ll check out your variant, I still think the album as it is is perfect. I wouldn’t change anything about it; even if it was never intended to, for me, it works as a complete cohesive piece, start to finish. That’s not to say I don’t enjoy certain songs over others, for sure, but the album as a whole for me is just brilliant
I never had a problem with this album, it's actually one of top RH albums. I had no clue it was kind of controversial until I randomly read the Wikipedia page for it while listening to it last night. 1 hour is hardly bloated and none of the songs sound like filler imo
my track listing 1. the gloaming 2. the gloaming 3. the gloaming 4. the gloaming 5. the gloaming 6. the gloaming 7. the gloaming 8 the gloaming 9. the gloaming 10. the goaming 11. the gloaming 12. the gloaming 13. scatterbrain 14. the gloaming
I actually made my own tracklist a while ago! 1. 2+2=5 2. Sit Down, Stand Up 3. Go To Sleep 4. I Will (LA version) 5. A Punch Up At a Wedding I like the transition between these ones (: 6. Sail To The Moon 7. Where I End And You Begin 8. We Suck Young Blood 9. There, There 10. Scatterbrain 11. A Wolf At The Door
My Tracklist: 1. 2 + 2 = 5 2. Burn the Witch (It was originally written for Hail to the Thief but they couldn't get an orchestra to play it or something, I don't remember the whole story) 3. Sit Down. Stand Up. 4. Go To Sleep 5. There, There 6. Where I End and You Begin 7. The Numbers (I just think it fits the album thematically, the intro I imagine would be low-passed and have some channel switching sound effects added to make it sound like it's on a radio) 8. We Suck Young Blood 9. I Will - Los Angeles Version | Retitled to just I Will 10. Myxomatosis 11. Sail to The Moon 12. Scatterbrain - As bonus tracks: 13. Gagging Order 14. True Love Waits (this would be adjusted to be in the same key as Gagging Order (or the other way around) so that it flows better) 16. I Will (No Man's Land) | Just the album version 17. Wolf At the Door I know there what would be considered weird track picks by most people, particularly We Suck Young Blood and the demotion of Wolf At the Door to a bonus track, and for Wolf At the Door I kind of agree, I just think Scatterbrain works as a nice closing song. Now for the rips off of AMSP I just think they add a nice touch to the album, particularly Burn the Witch. Idk, this is just what came to mind for me.
Actually it started being written in the middle of the Kid A sessions, It was further developed for Thief and was attempted to be officially recorded for it and In Rainbows before it was finished for Shaped Pool, Hope that clears thing up

WOOOOOOOOOO
Honestly the way I have been listening to Hail to the Thief is to listen to tracks 1-9 and then Wolf at the Door. There, There to me feels very climatic especially with the last minute, so I think just wrapping up the album shortly after makes for a nice and concise listening experience. I know that in this processes you do lose Myxomatosis which is a fan favorite. Maybe swapping We Suck Young Blood for Myxomatosis would work too. But idk, the album in of itself is good as is, just a little long. But it is fun to mess around to see what works and what doesn't.
ALL HAIL TO THE THIEF Track Listing 1. I Will 2. 2+2=5 3. The Gloaming 4. Sit Down, Stand Up 5. Sail To The Moon 6. Go To Sleep 7. Myxomatosis 8. Where I End And You Begin 9. There, There 10. Scatterbrain 11. The Wolf At The Door 12. I Will (Reprise/LA Version)
About your "alternate title" for the W.A.S.T.E. variant, Hail to the Thief itself is already subtitled "The Gloaming" in the album's booklet, the full title being "Hail to the Thief, (or, The Gloaming.)" or just simply "Hail to the Thief. (The Gloaming.)" by others. Just wanted to point that little something up.
Yet again A punchup is proven to be the most underrated song in their discography. That song is like 10 times better than the gloaming or the backdrifts
here's my tracklist: 1. I Will 2. 2 + 2 = 5 3. Myxomatosis 4. Go to Sleep 5. Where I End and You Begin 6. The Gloaming 7. Sit Down. Stand Up. 8. Backdrifts 9. A Punch Up at a Wedding 10. Scatterbrain 11. There, There 12. A Wolf at the Door 13. Sail to the Moon
The ultimate, objectively correct track list is of course: 1. 2+2=5 2. Sit Down. Stand Up 3. Backdrifts 4. Go To Sleep 5. There, There 6. I Will 7. A Punch Up at a Wedding 8. Where I End and You Begin 9. Myxomatosis 10. A Wolf At the Door On a side note: is this the most horribly capitalised/punctuated album of all time? I was getting weird OCD impulses when typing up those titles. Why is the 'At' capitalised in 'A Wolf...' but not in 'A Punch Up...'? Why does 'Sit Down...' have a full stop in it? What qualifies the 'To' in 'Go To Sleep' to be capitalised? Why isn't 'A Punch Up...' just called 'Punch Up' (I'll let 'A Wolf...' go)? And don't even get me started on those parenthesised titles...
My track listing: 1. Xtal 2. Alberto Balsam 3. Homecoming 4. Holiday 5.American Idiot 6. Happy Cycling 7. Roygbiv 8. The rest of American idiot 9. The worst Radiohead setlist 10. Take a break, make and drink a nice cup of tea

1. Sit Down Stand Up 2. Where I End and You Begin 3. 2 + 2 = 5 4. Myxomatosis 5. There There 6. Backdrifts 7. We Suck Young Blood 8. The Gloaming 9. A Punchup at a Wedding 10. Go To Sleep 11. Scatterbrain 12. A Wolf At the Door 13. I Will 14. Sail to The Moon
My idea for this listing is to hold more of the thematic of the album. The first half is all the paranoia, anger, and disbelief of what could be antagonising us, the middle transition is the limbo, the confusion, the unsettlement of the situation we're in. And the end is the acceptance, peace, and surrender to the devil's way. Everytime I hear Sit Down Stand Up I always think it's such a good opener for an album, it does the same as 2+2=5, but with more tension and gives more definition to "Hail to the Thief". To me, Where I End and You Begin just seems so perfect right after SDSU, the drumming feels like the continuation of SDSU, and it still keeps the tension from SDSU. 2+2=5 amplifies this tension, and Myxomatosis explodes the entire thing. There, There becomes the assurance and a schadenfreude to lead the person to giving in, and hailing to the thief. I personally don't like Backdrifts, WSYB, Gloaming. And I think the album can go without the three, but if they have to, they'd have to be in the middle, the limbo and uncomfortable situation of being persuaded by a thieving higher figure to submission and surrender. Punch Up at a Wedding is the sad acceptance, leading to the "lullaby" of Go To Sleep, and the four next songs to accompany it. Sail to the Moon is just perfect ending honestly, just drifting away from how ridiculous it is to even care about the unchangeable, a true surrender - peace.

Side 1
1. 2+2=5
2. Sit Down. Stand Up
3. Sail To The Moon
4. Go To Sleep
5. There, There
6. I Will
Side 2
1. The Gloaming
2. Backdrifts
3. A Wolf At the Door
4. Scatterbrain
5. Myxomatosis
6. Where I End and You Begin
The first three tracks would stay the same.
Using both versions of I Will to bookend the album seems like an actual great idea! Kinda like Pink Floyd's Animals does it (my fav PF album)

Damn this vid is something I always hoped of making discussing hail to the thief in depth, but you did this far better than I ever could
Keep this stuff up man!
When ever I look at the hail the the thief poster in my room I try to make sense of the word’s but end up making a abomination of a sentence
I like what you did with the og version of 'I will' at the start and the Los Angeles version at the end. And to make it better, We should re-name the Los Angeles version 'Will I?' like, as you said before, what happened in the album 'Rust Never Sleeps'. Feels like a good touch
I tried your playlist and I think it sounded pretty good! The only thing I'd change is I Will ( los Angeles vers.) with Gagging order, cause the calming acoustic to end the album with lyrics that, ironically, fits pretty well imo, like the chorus part;
"Move along now, there's nothing left to see.
Just a body, nothing left to see"
-implicated that the album is over, move along with your life and eat some breakfast and a nice cup of tea, just to take the edge off.
I love all the Sonic music in the background. Radiohead is my favorite band and the classic Sonic games have my favorite videogame music.

I did something similar once- I decided to make it a shift from autumnal nocturnes to a rainy dystopian nightmare. The tracklist I ended up with was:
1. There There
2. Scatterbrain
3. Sail to the Moon
4. Where I End and You Begin (the transition from the latter to this is amazing)
5. 2 + 2 = 5
6. Sit Down. Stand Up
7. The Gloaming
8. Myxomatosis
9. We Suck Young Blood
10. A Wolf at the Door
This way it goes from this gorgeous acoustic and autumnal fall feeling to this glitchy mad feeling by the end of the album. The sequencing between 3 --> 8 is like a descent into madness. By WSYB as the penultimate track, you've pretty much lost it.

Yours fit well though
Personally, I would modify your tracklist to put Scatterbrain after Go To Sleep since Myxomatosis -> A Wolf At The Door -> I Will (LA ver) is such a perfect order that I CAN'T let Scatterbrain ruin it's downspiral feeling. I'd also replace I Will (the 1st track) with its extended intro version. Otherwise, all other tracks and their orders are intact
Thank you so much for sharing this tracklist to us and discussing the reasons why!
Glad you liked it! And that it helped you appreciate this awesome album.

I desperately wish someone would do this for Blur’s 13 album. Not that its order needs to be changed but anyone dissecting the album would be insanely great.
The order is definitely weirdly funny though, Bugman right after Tender, Swamp Song after Coffee and TV and some others
My tracklist is super simple,

7 songs, 28 minutes.
Cut it in *half.*
Like a *thief.*
And I have another playlist called _Rest Of The Thief,_ which is just the 7 songs cut out in the order they appear. All pretentiousness aside, I think it's fun to listen to the album like this and jump between A & B.
Leaving out Sail to the Moon is a crime (although you have separated the album into two halves)
My Tracklist (If it were reworked):
1. 2 + 2 = 5
2. Myxomatosis
3. Sit Down. Stand Up
4. Go To Sleep
5. Backdrifts
6. The Gloaming
7. There, There
8. Where I End and You Being
9. Sail To The Moon
10. We Suck Young Blood
11. I Will
12. A Punch Up at a Wedding
13. Scatterbrain
14. A Wolf At the Door
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I did my own version of an alternate HTTT tracklist a few months because I liked some of the ideas and flow of the "WASTE" tracklist, but other parts were an issue for me, so I restructured it slightly and added one song, while trying to keep it more "official" rather than one that changes things just for the sake of it. Here's my alternate take:
1) 2+2=5 (perfect opener, maybe my favourite radiohead song, too)
2) Myxomatosis
3) I Will (I kept this because it's more important to the album, transition to Punchup should be removed in this version)
4) There There
5) The Gloaming
6) Sail To The Moon (With the same transition into Sit Down. Stand Up you had in your video as it flows really well)
7) Sit Down. Stand Up
8) Go to Sleep
9) Where I End and You Begin
10) Scatterbrain
11) A Wolf at the Door
my take
1 - I Will
2 - 2 + 2 = 5
3 - The Gloaming
4 - Sail To The Moon
5 - Go To Sleep
6 - Where I End and You Begin
7 - We Suck Young Blood
8 - There There
9 - Sit Down. Stand Up
10 - Myxomatosis
11 - Scatterbrain
12 - I Will (Reprise/LA Version)
13 - A Wolf At The Door
personally, i'm not that good at alternate album sequencing, but here's how my version would go:
1. 2+2=5
2. the gloaming
3. paperbag writer
4. backdrifts
5. go to sleep
6. myxomatosis
7. there, there
8. i will
9. sail to the moon
10. sit down, stand up
11. scatterbrain
12. a wolf at the door
also side comment, i really love how your version ends and begins with 2 versions of "i will", kinda reminds me more of how system of a down did the same concept, beginning and ending their double album with two versions of "soldier side"
this seems pretty interesting. I'll probably check it out.
where it ends and it begins

Where Bluebirds Fly
Classic pookapeeka vid. Yt needs more people with this sense of humor and great content. Anyhow, httt has always been an album I’ve loved and alternate tracklists for it are usually pretty good. I personally wouldn’t remove We Suck Young Blood (I quite like it) but you could make Punchup a b side and remove the Gloaming and potentially scatterbrain (no hate, just isn’t a strong one IMO). Something like that would be good for me. I also love how I Will bookends your version, reminds me of how PF does.
King of TH-cam is here
This is honestly great, I would really love to hear your version with all your edits. Maybe something like google drive would work or wevideo
Tracklist i came up:
1. 2+2=5
Works way too well as an opener
2. The Gloaming
3. Backdrifts
I figured putting the more glitchy electronic tracks earlier on would make more sense, plus these two transition very well
4. Where I End And You Begin
5. Sit Down Stand Up
These two also go well with eachother and are more the electronic side
6. Sail To The Moon
7. We Suck Young Blood
8. Paperbag Writer
I figured putting the two piano songs together would make sense and Paperbag could carry the eerie vibe from We Suck Young Blood
9. Go To Sleep
10. A Punch Up At A Wedding
11. There, There
These there are fairly energetic tracks so they could go together, plus the transtion from Punch Up isn't that bad as well
12. I Am A Wicked Child
Cooling down a bit
13. Myxomatosis
(I might swap this one with I Will)
14. I Will
15. Scatterbrain
16. A Wolf At The Door
Two slower songs right before A Wolf at the Door
17. Fog (again) (live) - Hidden Track
I love this one way too much to leave it out
(sorry for my shit english)
A pretty good track list I made.
1. 2 + 2 = 5
2. Sit Down Stand Up
3. Go To Sleep
I swapped out Sail To The Moon because I don't really feel like it follows up SDSU's energy, Go To Sleep works a little better I feel. These three songs are a chaotic opening to the album that set the mood well while flowing great.
4. A Punch Up at a Wedding
this song works well to kinda carry on some of that energy, but also as a way to set up the next few.
5. Sail to the Moon
6. Where I End and You Begin
7. I Will
SttM and WIEaYB both are electronic/piano focused tracks that work well to follow Punch Up. WIEaYB works very well to create a sort of Karma Police affect by leading into I Will. The pure chaos of WIEaYB works well to contrast the focused clarity of I Will.
8. Gagging Order
Gagging Order helps to keep the mood steady after the chaotic twist of WIEaYB into I Will, and keeps the themes, and minimalist vibe from I Will going. The fade out at the end of I Will also doesn't really harm Gagging Order too much in the grander flow of things.
9. Scatterbrain
10. There There
Scatterbrain helps to build up the tension, and the layers of instrumentation, building up into There There, which acts as a major explosion, propelling us into the last few songs. I also feel that putting Scatterbrain here gives it more room to really sink in. My biggest gripe with the original order is that Scatterbrain gets sandwiched between two faster paced, and more hyped songs, thus not giving this slow somber love song room to express itself on the album.
11. Myxomatosis
this song keeps everything in motion, and works as the perfect follow up to There There's explosion
12. Backdrifts
13. The Gloaming
Backdrifts works pretty well after Myxo, and works extremely well going into The Gloaming.
14. Fog
15. A Wolf At the Door
It is a real shame Fog never made it on an album as it works as the perfect penultimate song.
Thanks!

This is like Radiohead fan’s version of reorganizing The Beatle’s white album
As a fan of both, you're totally right
The White Album has no filler and the track order is completely perfect, I don’t care what anybody says

4. Go To Sleep
5. There, There
6. Where I End and You Begin
7. The Numbers (I just think it fits the album thematically, the intro I imagine would be low-passed and have some channel switching sound effects added to make it sound like it's on a radio)
8. We Suck Young Blood
9. I Will - Los Angeles Version | Retitled to just I Will
10. Myxomatosis
11. Sail to The Moon
12. Scatterbrain
- As bonus tracks:
13. Gagging Order
14. True Love Waits (this would be adjusted to be in the same key as Gagging Order (or the other way around) so that it flows better)
16. I Will (No Man's Land) | Just the album version
17. Wolf At the Door
I know there what would be considered weird track picks by most people, particularly We Suck Young Blood and the demotion of Wolf At the Door to a bonus track, and for Wolf At the Door I kind of agree, I just think Scatterbrain works as a nice closing song.

YES! WE DID IT! THE ULTIMATE HAIL TO THE THIEF LIST! WOOOOOOOOOO
i love you pookapeeka
Honestly the way I have been listening to Hail to the Thief is to listen to tracks 1-9 and then Wolf at the Door. There, There to me feels very climatic especially with the last minute, so I think just wrapping up the album shortly after makes for a nice and concise listening experience. I know that in this processes you do lose Myxomatosis which is a fan favorite. Maybe swapping We Suck Young Blood for Myxomatosis would work too. But idk, the album in of itself is good as is, just a little long. But it is fun to mess around to see what works and what doesn't.

Would love to see a Hail to the Thief rebuild

The ultimate, objectively correct track list is of course:

4. Go To Sleep
5. There, There
6. I Will
7. A Punch Up at a Wedding
8. Where I End and You Begin
9. Myxomatosis
10. A Wolf At the Door
On a side note: is this the most horribly capitalised/punctuated album of all time? I was getting weird OCD impulses when typing up those titles. Why is the 'At' capitalised in 'A Wolf...' but not in 'A Punch Up...'? Why does 'Sit Down...' have a full stop in it? What qualifies the 'To' in 'Go To Sleep' to be capitalised? Why isn't 'A Punch Up...' just called 'Punch Up' (I'll let 'A Wolf...' go)? And don't even get me started on those parenthesised titles...
I do enjoy the comma in 'There, There' though, so points for that one

Sometimes Thom has some laughably bad ideas and needs a slap. That's why Radiohead are so unique.

5. There There
6. Backdrifts
7. We Suck Young Blood
8. The Gloaming
9. A Punchup at a Wedding
10. Go To Sleep
11. Scatterbrain
12. A Wolf At the Door
13. I Will
Punch Up at a Wedding is the sad acceptance,
leading to the "lullaby" of Go To Sleep, and the four next songs to accompany it.
Sail to the Moon is just perfect ending honestly, just drifting away from how ridiculous it is to even care about the unchangeable, a true surrender - peace.
@@3THREEIII This is pretty much my personal list, and i love your take on the album.
