    Hey Tim, I have a question I hope you can answer. None of your 7 client acquisition methods went into some things I know others are currently recommending. For example, using paid Facebook ads, Google Adwords, TH-cam ads, cold email outreach, messaging company owners on Instagram and/or Facebook, etc. Do you engage in these methods? And if so, what kind of a budget do you recommend allocating to each (especially if you are starting out and are super limited on funds).

    • @TimConley
      @TimConley  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't use cold outreach methods anymore. I haven't since the early days of my career. When getting started it can be very helpful. A real chore, but helpful. To use advertising you need a conversion method figured out or you'll spend a lot of money without any sales. With social outreach, don't spam DMs. Garyvee has a great idea on how to do it right he calls, something like, the 2 cents method or the $1.80 method. You should be able to search that on his channel. Do exactly what he says and you'll build real connections on social that can turn into new business.

    Thank you for the great videos, I appreciate your logical approach. Any recommended resources for someone looking to move from freelancer to full-time/full-service agency? I'm overwhelmed by all the information out there.

    • @TimConley
      @TimConley  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a big question and I don't really know of any resources that dive into the switch. What is stopping you from going from freelancer to agency?

      Oh, BTW...this is my thinking on full service agencies: th-cam.com/video/RGhV3SS4Ois/w-d-xo.html

      @@TimConley :D I watched another one of your videos and you mention the way Pia Silva works and I went down that YT rabbit hole for a few hours. Her way of work ties in with a lot of the things you talk about and reiterates the importance of being a specialist vs. "full service". Now I think I just need to wrap my head around reframing myself as an Agency vs order taker. I think I'm on my way.
      Again, thanks for the videos and the replies.

    Based off your expertise, can a successful freelance copywriter get paid for their services such as Strategy, Training, Building, & Maintenance?

    • @TimConley
      @TimConley  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You've got to define what you mean by copywriter. I had Sam on who doesn't get paid maintenance. He does project work only.
      I have a friend who hired a copywriter who writes his emails. The copywriter gets paid on commission from the sales generated by the email list (both are very happy with the results).
      I knew a guy who used to charge for strategy, training and creating the campaign. He stayed involved until the campaign was complete, but he did project work only.
      It's possible to do all those things depending on the type of copywriting.

    Hey Tim I commented on another video of yours about how you look like Jim Carrey. LOL. But now I have a question about a client a potential client that I went after in my town. Basically they are a restaurant and I actually sat down with the owner of the restaurant and talked about me building their website. I'm not a website developer I mean just using template and using Wordpress. Anyways what happened was I think I put a bunch of information into his face on accident I was trying to upsell him to Facebook ads and Google my business all at the same time. I did follow up with him multiple times about twice now. Should I do another follow-up

    • @TimConley
      @TimConley  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should continue to follow up, but not just in one format. Email, call, FB message, in-person at the restaurant. What you need to do is get him to talk to you so he can give you objections.
      This will give you the opportunity to back away from selling him everything and the kitchen sink. Then you can find a solution he actually wants.

      Did he have 1 reason to buy your services? Can you promise him one extra dollar he can make by spending money with you today? You will cost him time and money, but what does he get in return? If you can show him that his financial benefit will faaar outweigh the extra effort and expense he has to outlay, there may be a sale in it for you.
