Very simply put....this song was written for our daughter Rhiannon Autumn Kuhr, her middle name is Autumn= (Autumn Reflection) she was the strength Paul needed to deal with his multiple spinal diseases. She was too young at the time to be in the video, she was only 3 but @ 2:09 there is a picture of Rhi & Paul hanging on the wall. (That was the director Tony's lovely idea) So yes technically she's in the video. Twilight Innocence & Swallowed By The Moon are also written for Rhiannon.

Novembers Doom gives a Gothic spin on Death Doom Metal -- Paul can sing both Gothic Metal and Death Doom Metal. He's good at the clean vocals. I came to know Paul over the years as he played with my my book cover designer. Novembers Doom hints to God in their lyrics but don't mention it.

Some of the first songs from Amid were written almost 20 years ago. At that time, "Doom" wasn't a popular tag. We were very SLOW death metal. When the "doom" tag came into play, we felt Amid fit that rather well, but after that, with our second CD, we started to drift away from that style, branching out into more musical areas.
You know what i like most bout this song, Novembers Doom is Doom Metal, Doom Metal is a genre based on death and well, doom. These guys make a song, yet another doom track, and it goes about birth and finding new life, quite te oposite and it friggin works perfectly. Simply genius, one of the best there is out there.

I am very much into avantgarde metal, but gothic doom is a personal favorite of mine, I don't know if you know these bands, but I bet you will like them: The Sins of Thy Beloved, Draconian, Swallow the Sun, Katatonia, Funeral, Skepticism and Shape of Despair. I never understood why people think emotional punk rock is metal (shortened emo) the genre says it all... Oh look up the bands Rapturized mentioned, they are good too.

Recently i have listened to oneof the songs of November's Doom and Really now all Day im listening to their songs they are so good band and i think they will hav a very famous reputation so near.
OK, so I'll settle this before this gets out of hand here. We are NOT a doom band. Autumn Reflection is NOT a doom song. All of our music certainly has elements of doom, as well as death metal, rock, and thrash. It's hard to put us into one genre, but the one thing that is constant, is the dark sound. We simply call it Dark Metal.

First and foremost, we are very much a death metal band, although we have many influences, and create music on an emotional level, being it death metal, doom metal, or a softer ballad type song. We like to class ourselves as "Dark Metal."

@Digideus In my opinion she should decide when she is an adult so that she can make informed decision on her own as you say....until then you shouldn't try to influence her decision....you should say choose what you want.....I don't have any children I have just thought about how I will treat my childern if I ever have and this is one of the main aspects of being a parent that I have though of....whether to let your children decide or make them believe the same things as you....
It's not that we deny having quite a bit of "doom" in our sound, I think it's quite obvious. It's more of a case of not wanting to just be labeled as "doom metal" because we have alot of other stuff going on musically that doesn't simply fit into that category. We're not a big fan of all these sub-genre tags anyhow, people get too wrapped up in what to call something and what genre it belongs in. "Amid..." was the closest you could come to really labeling was we do as "doom" or "doom/death".
The black sabbath thing was nearly the first thing that came to me then. Yes your music is nice and the "genre" is not so important as people's likes/dislikes variate in many ways :) and at the moment there is no band taht can adress to all the listeners in the world, and most new bans adress "a group" of fans and try to gather more and more popularity over the public,and people who don't understand music 2 much i really think they should at least have some respect for it since it's an art

I hope I can have that sort of a relationship someday. It will be many years before that can happen to me though. I'm a person who lives an hour from any real civilization who is striving to be in a band someday. Any advice as to where I could possibly find some bandmates? I'm quite alone in my school in my musical tastes.

@belardo80 I know the doom bands i listed are from Europe, ND isn't though. Which is a change. Core Genres, and Nu metal isn't metal, most of them are sloppy bands with metal influences, and a name tag to boot, which is just plain trash. Doom Metal is true metal.

If you liked our older stuff, try giving the last 2 another chance. Some of it is a bit faster and more "death" than before, but there's still quite a few tracks that are reminiscent of the older stuff too. I stand strongly by our new material. Hopefully see you on tour somtime.

When i first heard novembers doom im hooked on it. Brilliant music lyrics the voice of the artist has you in awe of awesomeness. Any albums available?
Some of the first songs from Amid were written almost 20 years ago. At that time, "Doom" wasn't a popular tag. We were very SLOW death metal. When the "doom" tag came into play, we felt Amid fit that rather well, but after that, with our second CD, we started to drift away from that style, branching out into more musical areas.

You know what i like most bout this song, Novembers Doom is Doom Metal, Doom Metal is a genre based on death and well, doom. These guys make a song, yet another doom track, and it goes about birth and finding new life, quite te oposite and it friggin works perfectly.
Simply genius, one of the best there is out there.

@belardo80 Looks like you got a pretty good music taste then. I am very much into avantgarde metal, but gothic doom is a personal favorite of mine, I don't know if you know these bands, but I bet you will like them:
The Sins of Thy Beloved, Draconian, Swallow the Sun, Katatonia, Funeral, Skepticism and Shape of Despair.
I never understood why people think emotional punk rock is metal (shortened emo) the genre says it all... Oh look up the bands Rapturized mentioned, they are good too.

OK, so I'll settle this before this gets out of hand here. We are NOT a doom band. Autumn Reflection is NOT a doom song. All of our music certainly has elements of doom, as well as death metal, rock, and thrash. It's hard to put us into one genre, but the one thing that is constant, is the dark sound. We simply call it Dark Metal.
I would appreciate it if you kept your religious beliefs, and the attempt to "save" people on this comment section away from here. Arlineku was quoting text written in a book about this song, not looking for saving.

We're not a Christian band. Elements of religion are heavily used in the imagery and lyrics, used to promote individual thought. First and foremost, we are very much a death metal band, although we have many influences, and create music on an emotional level, being it death metal, doom metal, or a softer ballad type song. We like to class ourselves as "Dark Metal."

I checked a list of doom metal band and almost 45 % of bands originally from the states.
I do not have a favorite genere or a band. I have favorite songs and best lives show. I listen to classic hard rock to gothic doom and avengard metal. Today's kids think EMO is metal ! God deliver us ...
@Digideus In my opinion she should decide when she is an adult so that she can make informed decision on her own as you say....until then you shouldn't try to influence her decision....you should say choose what you want.....I don't have any children I have just thought about how I will treat my childern if I ever have and this is one of the main aspects of being a parent that I have though of....whether to let your children decide or make them believe the same things as you....
It's not that we deny having quite a bit of "doom" in our sound, I think it's quite obvious. It's more of a case of not wanting to just be labeled as "doom metal" because we have alot of other stuff going on musically that doesn't simply fit into that category. We're not a big fan of all these sub-genre tags anyhow, people get too wrapped up in what to call something and what genre it belongs in. "Amid..." was the closest you could come to really labeling was we do as "doom" or "doom/death".
The black sabbath thing was nearly the first thing that came to me then. Yes your music is nice and the "genre" is not so important as people's likes/dislikes variate in many ways :) and at the moment there is no band taht can adress to all the listeners in the world, and most new bans adress "a group" of fans and try to gather more and more popularity over the public,and people who don't understand music 2 much i really think they should at least have some respect for it since it's an art

@belardo80 I know the doom bands i listed are from Europe, ND isn't though. Which is a change. Core Genres, and Nu metal isn't metal, most of them are sloppy bands with metal influences, and a name tag to boot, which is just plain trash. Doom Metal is true metal.

I'd say pick up either of our last two cds. "The Pale Haunt Departure" is still the one I feel most strongly about, to be honest with you.
Your best bet is to check out the videos here on TH-cam, as well as what we have put up on Myspace and our website, and see what interests you and take it from there.

If you liked our older stuff, try giving the last 2 another chance. Some of it is a bit faster and more "death" than before, but there's still quite a few tracks that are reminiscent of the older stuff too. I stand strongly by our new material.

Lewl. I like it, but the name just fits it, since I have nothing else to call it. I don't call this doom metal, because it sounds like a radio song, whether you like it or not. If they played this on my local rock station, it would fit in perfectly.
