I pulled hammers with a screwdriver when I first started out too lol, I now take the lock out, pull the mainspring, then I take out the sear tumbler screws, once apart you can use a small brass punch in the hammers square hole and a little tap on the punch and that hammer will pop off without scratching the lockplate
A friend of mine has a double barrel muzzle loader we. Check the bore with a bore gauge one barrel is a 16Ga. And the other is a 28Ga. They are both s.ooth bores and they are over and under but have only one percshion lock and they swivel at the beech and has two. Nipples for caps it states on the barrel J.M.Hndover Columbus OHIO from what he can find out it was made between 1839 & 1847?
I never knew such a set exists it was my first time ever but that's how you learn so thank you I will get one if I ever will try to restore another rifle.
Good job ! I found a rifle similar to yours without any marking on it. Do you know the possible date of the manufacture ? Perhaps the middle of the 19 S ? Do you know the manufacturer ?
