He was about to give more insight, talk about what exactly he was doing there... Until Peter cut him off. Mansell even tried to prevent him but Peter was so confident with his BS. It's crazy how much Windsor takes himself seriously, despite he was a marketing person with zero racing background, not a mechanic, engineer or driver. When he talks about driving styles, you can see that he's just making up stuff.
Schumacher was the best ever, until 1993 in Monaco he had manual gearbox, against the paddle shifter of Ferraris, McLaren and Williams. Then Mansell was my 2nd favorite driver all time, the most aggressive, the craziest, the personality, IL lione was a show apart. I miss watching him driving.
Really honest and good insight from Nigel here. Basically saying he was driving perfectly on the traditional racing line, was getting caught and couldn’t understand it. It was only when Nigel got a bit rattled and out of shape in certain corners he discovered the extra grip and worked out what Michael was doing. It’s as close as you’ll hear a racing driver come to say that he probably learned something from another driver that day.
Most of the GP fraternity knew that Schumacher was special by then. Nelson Piquet, who got outpaced by Schumi at the end of '91 said "this young man reminds me of Gilles Villeneuve." It was rare that Piquet complimented another driver - Prost and Lauda were the only two who he genuinely had time for during the 1980s.

Thought the same thing. Mansell was not that Special same for Hill or Rosberg. Schumacher, Senna, Vettel or Hamilton were/ or are special drivers, they are true legends. He was just a drama queen
I remember watching that race live. It was the classic race where Mansell and Senna went wheel to wheel down the straight. James Hunt clearly thought Mansell was toying with Michael too in his commentary, and when he started to open the gap back up I remember him say “that’s clearly a bit of an ‘up yours’ to Michael”. Great memories.

I like and liked Mansell when I was a very young kid. The only mistake this guy has ever done was to get rid of superb moustache. That moustache, man! F1 drivers of today all look like little kids in cars for men.
They always said that Spa Francochamps was Schumachers best track...in reality it was Barcelona. He also made a second place in 1994 just with driving in 5th gear only. Obviously Barcelna had a desing which allowed to drive away from the best line and still being fast.
Mansell is actually contradicting himself, 0:30 "I was pushing it on the limit" and then at 1:36 "I went to sleep" So pushing it on the limit is sleeping?
Also always liked Nigel's racing but he was always a bit of a drama queen. One thing about Nigel that stands out is he was always a "clean" racer, he was one of the drivers that you could trust when racing wheel to wheel.
The Point is, Nigel did have everything in his car. Traction Control, ABS, Active Suspension, semi automatic. Michael did have nothing of that! Nothing!
you are forgetting in the rain engine supply matches from V10 to V8 to V12 so the V8 cars (lighter to a certain point) have no disadvantage to V10 engine cars. In fact probably the V8 was giving power in a smoother way to Michael so he could use it better.
Never liked Michael Schumacheat or any other driver that in terms to win a race or a championship crashed other drivers. So that's why I always liked Mansell, Nelson Piquet and Keke Rosberg.

The reason max was good in the rain in Brazil was because he he warmed his tyres like crazy. After a few laps and everyone was up to temperature he was nothing special.
But how did Max warm his tyres in the rain? Everybody else was wiping out all over the place but he just cruised by them. Mansell was a good pilot, but the car he was in 1992, basicly won the tittle for him, Mclaren had a bad season right after Honda leaved Formula 1, and benetton despite Schumacher was a new talented pilot, didnt really had the power to compete with Williams, wich was by far the best car in formula 1 between 1992 and 1998 when mclaren mercedez took over the grid.
How many World champions has there been driving a poor car? People don't give Mansell the credit he is due, he mixed it with all the very best and often got the better of them.
