There appears to be a bug where the game changes rankings during the race near the finish line on some tracks even when you are in first place, sometimes dropping to sixth place before reverting back to first place when the finish line is crossed. And after all these years and someone who played Super Mario Kart as a kid, I never realized until now that Bowser's Castle's music is Boswer's Boss Battle from Super Mario World remixed.
