Nice one. They played 10 concerts at the Budokan over the course of the first 3 or 4 months of 2021. It was a big part of their 10th anniversary celebration. These were their last live concerts before they announced they would be going on a hiatus in October 2021 and they didn't play live again until the end of January 2023.
As you said, this was during lockdown so there were very severe restrictions that had to be adhered to. There was a crowd there for every show, but the capacity was limited to about 50%, (so only 5 or 6,000 where the Budokan would normally hold something between 10-15,000 I think). They had to remain in their seats (actually they could stand up, jump, stamp their feet, clap and wave, but they couldn't move from their place) and they were socially distanced with empty seats between them.
Everybody had to wear two masks (their own plus a BABYMETAL "saviour mask" handed out on entry) and they were not allowed to shout or sing along etc. Cheering, crowd noise, chanting etc was piped in - that was from recordings of the crowds during those same songs at previous concerts.
As you saw, the Kami Band were positioned around the stage, roughly N, S, E and W. I don't know if that was anything to do with social distancing - I think it more likely because the stage was at the centre of the arena and it made more sense visually.
The stage itself was spectacular being a video screen in itself and somehow they even made it look like a huge flaming birthday cake at some points of the shows.
If you want to see this same song with a more obvious (and full capacity) crowd the Legend MM performance from March this year (Momometal's 21st birthday celebrations) is on the official channel and would be safe to use for another reaction (or just watch it for your own pleasure).
'Syncopation' was a Japan exclusive track from the second album Metal Resistance. The international release had 'From Dusk Till Dawn' instead.
I was lucky enough to have been at Brixton in 2019 the first time they ever played 'Syncopation' outside of Japan. We couldn't believe our ears when the heartbeats sounded, the crowd went wild.
Su-metal said she was amazed everybody there knew the song since it had never been released outside of Japan in any form.

    Good one, thanks!
They performed 10 shows at the Nippon Budokan stadium in early 2021. This famous martial arts arena has a capacity for nearly 14,000 people seated (11,000 in this configuration). And yes, many restrictions were put in place like the limitation to half the capacity and the prohibition to shout. Also, attendees had to wear two masks: their own face mask and another one provided by the organization.
Crowd noise was played though the venue sound system and it was from each song's previous performances. I guess no one likes to perform in front of a silent audience. This is a huge amount of work (as they admitted) and shows their extreme attention to the detail.
They actually did a livestream in December 2020 filmed in an empty Rock-May-Kan, the small venue in Meguro (Tokyo) where they performed they first solo concert, with the tittle: STAY METAL STAY ROCK-MAY-KAN (an obvious reference to the famous "stay home" slogan) to celebrate their 10-year anniversary.

Nice one! I love this song, and Budokan 2021 was an amazing series of 10 shows.
Legend MM version is better though. But, it just came out (Mar 2024 show), so I assumed you were just catching up on past suggestions. Check that one out on your own!
Also, you are correct on Covid: Budokan was less than 50% capacity due to restrictions (~5K vs ~10K normally). And Babymetal still went ahead and performed, despite the massive drop to ticket revenues.

There is a crowd, but it is small. That is why they held 10 shows at Budokan in 2021, to give more people a chance to watch. Watching Megitsune from that same show at Budokan will give you an idea of the real size of the audience.

BABYMETAL held 10 shows at Budokan in 2021 to celebrate their 10th anniversary.
The concerts featured songs from the 10 BABYMETAL YEARS album.
They had to limit the crowd size because of COVID 19 restrictions.

I am always amazed at the professionalism of these ladies. Even they make mistakes in choreography and lyrics on the rarest of occasions, but it is a rare opportunity to see them for the human beings they are.

This series of 10 shows celebrating 10 years of BabyMetal. Many fans had planned to go if they got a ticket, but covid hit Japan shut down, so only Residents in Japan got tickets and even special seating arrangements in an the all seater Budokan and no cheering , shouting ect .
Still, from what i have been told, one hell of a series of shows 😁 for the lucky ones who were their . 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼

This is another banger track, and with the already mature side on Metal Resistance 2nd album.
Our queen and princesses are undecided if they are really in love, like a syncopated heart.
Syncopation was the song exclusively for Japanese album while "From Dusk Till Dawn" was released for International version of Metal Resistance (of course that's my next recommendation), although later on they performed this song outside of Japan because is a blast with more rock sound rather than metal.
Along with Karate, is one of those songs many fans got that anime vibes, for me Karate would be the opening and Syncopation the ending, although it works like an opening too. Till this day those were the only BM songs with that anime vibes for me, but after the new single Divine Attack - Shingeki came out now i got three songs lol
In this live version Momoko Okazaki (now MomoMetal) is the avenger filling the third spot as a backup dancer, you can see the original trio performing this live at Tokyo Dome 2016.
The Eastern Kami Band was in charge of these shows. The more recent version at Legend MM 2024 is with the West Kami Band playing.
Last month they finished the Asian Tour and in October they will be at Knotfest Brazil, Argentina and Chile for the first time in South America, as well Peru, Chile, Colombia and Brazil with a headlining show, they will come back to the US for another tour and also Mexico will be part of that tour but this time as special guests for Slipknot, we can't wait for it.🥳
They also got a new collab song along with Tak Matsumoto new group called Eternal Flames, although it's mainly SuMetal singing along with the vocalist, Tak-san already did another collab with his guitar skills in the album versión of DA DA DANCE from Metal Galaxy back in 2019, we're waiting for a safe proshot clip to react of that live performance.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this and see you next time 🦊🤘🔥

One of BM's most underrated. So many musical ideas cramped into one tune, aka Megitsune. Yet Kobametal thought it sounded too Japanese technically (visual kei, anisong, particularly the J-electronicore band Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas) & replaced it with the Skrillex-inspired From Dusk Till Dawn for the international edition of the Metal Resistance album. The obvious standout alternative as a lead single for the latter, but they opted for the more grandiose Karate & it paid off (both Karate & FDTD were critically praised).
