This song always makes my eyes tear up. But not from sadness, but from the fact that this song is SO good. Do you have the same reaction to either this song, or maybe another song that is close to your heart?
Thank you for this great reaction. I'm 70 years old, a life accompanied by a multitude of music, but BABYMETAL is beyond music, it's inexplicable, for me its story is a legend.🌸🦊🌸
Gee, and I thought I was a bit old to be a fan, being 60. They put so much emotion in their music, not only this song (though this is indeed one of their finest). In 1977 there were loads of punkband that did the same for me. But I was only 13 and I could never meet them. In the 80's there were loads of hardcore band that did the same for me and met many of them. They stayed at my house. Some of them I am still friends with. Now there's Babymetal that makes me emotional, and I don't think I'll ever meet them. But I hope they keep making music that gives me all these emotions.
Agree. That was one of the nice things when I watched the concert from Rock am Ring, they did show the band quite a lot. And I always love it when they for instance get to play "Mischiefs of the Metal Gods"
I started diving into the world of BabyMetal just over the last week or so. So far, this song is by far the most impactful to me. I have watched many different performances and reactions and get more emotional with each viewing. The talent and precision of these young ladies blows me away. The Kami Band are amazing musicians. I love how Su-Metal and the others can lead their audience. As I read translation of the lyrics and understand the intent behind them (especially "Monochrome"), and I see how it affects the crowd and their unity such as in this video, I'm overcome with hope. I never imagined that it would be young ladies mostly singing and dancing to a language I don't understand would bring me hope, but they do. Thanks for being part of this.
BABYMETAL concert transcend the boundaries of music, filling the venue with a mutual respect between the artists and the audience. The feeling is love itself. The world needs BABYMETAL now more than ever🌈🦊😀
@@zilch634 So true. It's kind of crazy when you think of how choreographed, click-tracked etc their performance is, how much contact they manage to create with their audience. It's some magic going on.
I know exactly how you feel about this song, I felt the same way when I heard it for the first time. Even in the intro before the vocals come in, the drum blast beats and guitar melodies feel so full of emotions (sadness, hope and acceptance), and above all of that, Su-metal's voice and the way she sings really embodies the message this song wants to convey. Monochrome is my favorite song of all time, not just among Babymetal discography, but in general. I just love how the song structure is written and of course the lyrics as well.
I was at PIA Arena for this show and it was a very special experience. In hindsight, PIA will go down in Babymetal history as one of the most important shows of their career, so I feel very lucky to have been there for it. The interlude where they gathered together arm in arm and Su hummed the melody was such a sweet moment. I think Momo started to step out of shot out of habit from her Avenger days, but then Su pulled her in like "You're part of this now. Get in here." PIA Arena is actually a fairly small venue compared to the kind of venues that Babymetal usually play for their big headline shows. The capacity at PIA is only 12,000, which made it very hard to get tickets to. Usually when they play in Yokohama, they play at Yokohama Arena, as they did for Legend MM, but apparently it was booked that particular weekend for another event, so they had to use PIA instead even though it's quite a bit smaller.
Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。I witnessed this very performance at the venue where and when Momoko was inducted into BABYMETAL officially. Yes, she had a headset mic for the first time like Moa has done since BM's inception. I sang the ♪ oh oh ohoo ♪ part with Momometal with my loudest voice in the show holding my phone. What a bliss! The flying drones with cameras that enabled the beautiful aerial cinematograph were manipulated by experts including Ms. Shiraishi. She is a member of team Japan for World Drone Racing Championship. Our Kami Band played in the girls' back. They have supported BABYMETAL since 2019. Japanese fans always appreciate the devoted support like knights by Chris, CJ, Anthony, Clint and Ryan. They are really unsung heroes.
Welcome back to the Foxhole.🦊🤘🌈 I don't remember following your BM journey but it's cool you already know about them. BM songs brings many different emotions and that's what one of things that makes them so unique. Keep enjoying and re discovering BM songs.🦊🤘
Nice one, thanks! "Monochrome" performances are always emotional. And this was a really cool one with Momoko finally joining them in that hug as a metaphor of joining BABYMETAL as a full member. This is pure class! 🤘🦊
I mean, it does look like Momo is still getting used to be a full-on member, being an integral part of it, she doesn't even realize Suzuka was calling her for the embrace by extending while Su wasn't even thinking it'd be a new moment for her, so much so you can see Su like "where is she" and calling her directly. She's growing into it and I'm bawling my eyes out all throughout!
Music is emotion. 🙂 And so is a live performance and Babymetal know really well how to do both. PIA Arena isn't actually that large, Saitama Super Arena is the place Babymetal has performed the most (RoR live in Japan 2015 and Suzuka also performed there ones as Karen Girl's), is 20 000 and this is smaller, but it was selected because it's Momoko's home prefecture. Just like Legend S was in Hiroshima. Their were 2 shows, the first night at the end Momometal was born and the second night you are watching, they have the clothes with transparent plastic-like extension or whatever it is. 8:08 darn, had just written that in my comment and then he says the same. 10:55 and the acknowledgement by Su-metal by saying her name....
@@autohmae I watched them in a small(ish) venue in Norway with about 1600 people. And even if I prefer smaller venues, I hope to be there for one of their more spectacular concerts one day.
Everything Babymetal does is deliberate and practiced. I love the attention to detail to the lasers and light show, stage design, to the musical arrangements, to the singing, and choreography. It's all very tight. Babymetal has always been visually and auditorily appealing to me.
I just turned 60 a few days ago and have been a Babymetal fan for about 10 years. I like to tell the story of the first time I heard another song from this album, Metal Kingdom. I had worked one of those 24 hour shifts fighting an issue at work (I am in IT), took a couple hour break to get a little bit of sleep, maybe 2 hours or so, got up, logged back on ready to tackle the issue again and noticed the song "Metal Kingdom" just dropped, thinking, work can wait a few minutes, I have to see this. I did not realize how "tight/uptight/stressed" I was until the first words of the song came out of Su's mouth, I had a involuntary mental and physical reaction, I relaxed. I literally felt my shoulders droop as the tension left my mind resulting in tension leaving my body. I still experience that when listening to that song. Su can have that reaction on people. I don't know how she does it, what power she posses, I just know she possesses it.
What a nice story. I love hearing about it. That's the power of the metal goddess that is Su. Music is such a strong tool to deal with all kinds of stress.
Great reaction. A genuinely emotional reaction is worth 10 normal reactions to me. Monochrome is my favourite Babymetal song, even more than Syncopation, which is a perfect song. Monochrome is an 11/10 song for me. Of course, this song wouldn't be the same without Su's performance of it, which is equally perfect. The guy who wrote this song is Yuyoyuppe; he's like the Beethoven of Japanese writers now that his genius in the early Vocaloid and Doujin scenes was noticed and he was selected by Koba to work with Babymetal from the start. And when he writes or arranges for Babymetal, he goes well beyond expectations and pushes them to new places. I have recently made a collection of very exhaustively researched Yuyoyuppe-related playlists on my homepage, collecting hundreds of songs he has written or arranged in the past 14 years, including for Babymetal (you could say i'm a fan of his LOL). All Babymetal fans will feel an affinity for Yuyoyuppe's music because it shares DNA with Babymetal's music. Judging by songs like 'Messiah' and 'Anemone', it seems like his metal-related writing has become more epic recently. So he might have something equally epic lined up for Babymetal's next album.
@@FranksReactions Well Monochrome is a high bar to cross, it's one of his greatest songs IMO. But he has more great songs, even Karate by Babymetal. But even his lesser than epic works are always high quality and have a distinctive genius sound no matter what genre he's working in or who he writing for. 'Just for myself' which he wrote for the anime A3! is a great song that could have been a Babymetal song. And if i had my way it would be one, along with 'Hope' as part of a Yuyoyuppe cover project, but thats just my personal pipe dream😃 Oh you earned a sub BTW, i forgot to mention.
