So cute -- congratulations !!! I'd like to point out something ... You might want to re-think the grain free food. There is no reason for your pup to be eating grain free. Grains provide nutrients for cardiac health. I know here in the US it's been a big news story about the link between grain free diets and heart disease in dogs. Also, if she is part Boxer it's even more important. Boxers have a predisposition to getting cardiomyopathy (enlarged heart). Please check with your veterinarian. If you're worried about allergies, it's usually the protein source, not the grain, that is the cause. CONGRATULATIONS on your new baby. She is precious and I wish you many years of happiness with her. Dogs are the best !!!!

That’s how our Evee girl 🐈 picked us. We went to the shelter to adopt, and while interacting with other cats, she reached her paw out of the crate and gently tapped me on the back of the leg. That sealed the deal for me ♥️ 3 years later, I can’t imagine having chosen anyone else

Awwww, bless her heart! Being a dog mom is so rewarding, I just lost my little chihuahua Wednesday😢😢😢 She would have been 17 on May 6. I adopted her when she was 3 months old. So hard to say goodbye. Enjoy your sweet baby!❤️❤️❤️❤️

Having a dog is definitely one of the best thing ever! I have two and recently lost my senior girl at almost 14 years old. We adopted another dog 3 weeks after and he is such a mush. Best advice is repetition and a schedule. My pups are like clock work 🤣. Also both my pups love their crates. It’s a safe place for them. Don’t leave any toys in the crate when not homeIncase she goes crazy ripping it apart and decided to swallow some of it. I usually leave treats hidden or a bone. Congratulations on being furry parents.
thank you so much for the helpful tips! Im slowly getting her use to her day crate but even 5 min in there she is not a happy camper. I did recently put a kong with a lil PB and that helped. Sounds like you got cute new pup on your hands.
If she cries in the crate at night, you can cover it with a blanket and it should calm her. That really helped my puppy. Also be firm when training lol! She’s so so so cute I love her! 😭❤️
Puppies between 8-16 weeks typically need to go outside every 2-3 hours to avoid accidents. If you take them outside before they have the chance to have an accident it will potty train them easier and quicker.
Pro tip: if your puppy eats something it shouldn’t or it might be sick mix pumpkin purée in with a Little hot water and it’s regular dry food. It’s a natural laxative and will help the digestion. We did this with our puppies in litters I’ve raised in order to kick start they’re digestive systems. If you have any other questions I’m quite informed on puppy matters so please let me know.
I have 2 small dogs and they LOVE ❤️ kale, stalk and all! We grew it in the garden and they would literally take it out of the garden when we were outside. When she starts teething, watch for the teeth falling out! Having a dog is the best thing ever! She will be life changing!!!! I could never imagine my life without dogs!!! I hope you enjoy every moment you have with her!! 🥰💜🥰😊 More Cashew please lol

Cashew is so beautiful and so lucky to have you two as her parents! Congrats to your little family!! As a dog mom of two large dogs, I will say that it is super important to set boundaries early on. When you mentioned the couch situation, I thought of my dogs. They were allowed on the couches as pups but as they got older and now are around 80 lbs each, they have not been allowed on the couches. It was extremely hard to get them to understand that they are no longer allowed on the couches. So one piece of advice is to not allow her on your furniture, whether it is a bed, sofa, etc. very early on. Also, invest in swiffer. It'll be a life saver for your home as she will shed (possibly a ton). Good luck!!

I'm so excited for you and Matt!!!! Cashew is so cute and so sweet. It looks like she felt right at home quickly. Dogs have great instincts and she definitely knew that you are her mom. I have an English bulldog named Penelope and she is without a doubt the best thing that's ever come into my life . You will become the annoying parent that always talks about and shows pictures of your dog in EVERY.SINGLE.SITUATION so embrace it! They are only with us a short time and they need us as much as we need them. Congrats again she is going to make your life so much more fun!

Put a hot-water bottle with water that is cooler then what you would put in it for yourself but still warm. Pop that in the sleeping crate with a blanket over top. Puppies are used to sleeping with other animals and can get chilled! Other than that, she is absolutely adorable and I know you both will make excellent dog parents. Proud Golden-Retriever owner for the past 12 years wishing you both luck and loads of puppy love! P.S. I totally understand the Instagram account thing, we've got one for our golden as well!
Congratulations!!!! I got my bulldog puppy when he was 7 weeks old... he's now 11 years old! I had a puppy shower for him at a park near my home and all my friends came by to meet him and bring him toys! It was so much fun!!! I took a week off from work to get him acclimated to his new home. My best advice is to crate train her. I would put him in his crate and immediately after he would wake up I would take him outside. Consistency is key! He was potty trained in no time. He now goes to the door when he needs to go out and even when I'm not in the room he will bark to get my attention. I can count on both hands the times he went in the house in 11 years and half of them were me moving too slowly! Also wear socks.... puppy teeth are sharp!

Cashew is adorable!! I have had 4 puppies, including a boxer, and a tip is to get a harness instead of attaching the lead to the collar. This is especially important with barrel chested dogs like boxers. Also, as hard as it is, be very strict about the rules NOW while she is a puppy. It is really hard BC they are just so cute but you will thank yourself later that you don't have a constant battle to get her to follow your commands and rules. Also, small little training sessions, like 5-10 minutes a few times per day is the quickest way I have found to teach puppies commands and tricks. Good luck!

Congrats on your puppy!! I just wanted to give you a little tip about the dog food tho, i’m in vet tech school and am also a doggy mama myself so i’ve done a fair share of research on foods and grain free diets aren’t completely the way to go. it’s showing that dogs that have been on that diet for years tend to have heart failure so it’s really important that you give her some type of grains with her food, even if it’s just some cooked rice or make sure her treats have some grains in them!! but good luck to you guys, she’s the cutest lil girl!!💗

Congratulations! I've had dogs my whole life (just adopted a new one in august) but make time for puppy classes with each new dog. Its a nice refresher on how to train a dog and holds you accountable to keep practicing! Plus, its great socialization for your dog. My dog went through three 6 week sessions and we still have playdates with one of his classmates. Good luck and remember...when all else fails, hug the dog!

I love her!!!! Good choice mama! My advice is consistency and routine, dogs need it! Also make her crate a safe place and a place she enjoys being. Not a place for punishment or she will resent going in there to sleep. Give her some food or treats every time she goes in and she'll be happy to go in every time. Good luck!!

Congrats on Cashew! We just got a golden retriever. Puppy tip- make cashew sit and stay in front of dog bowl before eating. We put the food down, make our dog sit and stay and can only start eating when we say “ok”. We’ve gotten to the point now where he does this without us holding him or anything :)

My tip for you is patience! Patience with potty training, because that can be very difficult for some dogs. Patience with chewing, biting, etc., with whining, and with walking! For example, they don’t know how to walk on a leash yet but they’ll never learn if you always pick them up. With my puppy Daphne, it took us a hour just to get from the parking lot to the walking trail, but by the time we finished our walk, she was walking like a pro! My partner wanted to just pick her up, but I persisted and she did great! It’s all about taking your time, because your pup can sense if you’re frustrated with them and it will change their whole demeanor!

Give her a lots of love ,give her a treat and a cheer for everything she does well and make clear that fingers are not for chewing by always putting a toy in her mouth :) you will have a wonderful time with CASHEW and she will fill up your heart with so much love you didn’t even know you had :)

We went to look at puppies four years ago and we were for sure we were going to go with this super cute boy named Leon. We got there and was playing with all of them, and Leon’s sister Lucy bit my husbands beard and we just fell in love with her, lol. Lucy made a great addition to our family and she is a great younger but big sister to our shihtzu! Sometimes the dog will choose you!

Lots of exercise helps with chewing and misbehavior! Also, it’s super hard, but being firm with them when they’re little and you’re training them pays off big in the long-term!

Congratulations on your ADORABLE new Cashew! As the human of two Boxers, and being knowledgeable of Mastiffs as well, I can tell you that she is going to be BIG and she will NEED a LOT of exercise - BUT you NEED to be mindful of how much boisterous exercise and how far you let her run because her joints are still growing. Please Google it, or a good book about Boxers or Mastiffs should cover that. Now I've got puppy fever :-)

My girl loves organic ground turkey, grated sweet potato, frozen peas and green beans cooked together in a bit of water. I make enough for a week to mix with grain-free kibble. Good luck with your infant. Pee pads are essential for a little while (in the case of older rescue dogs, for a long while). I’m happy for you both. Dogs give us the boost we need for a happy life. ❤️
Congrats on the puppy guys! Costco is where it’s at for dog beds. They’re huge of course, what isn’t at Costco. And they’re priced great too! They even have memory foam ones.

Too cute! How exciting for you both. Toys, toys, toys and obedience training. We also love the doggy daycare we have for our dog 4 days a week. We both work outside of the home an it is wonderful for our dog...she loves it!
We had a similar experience with our cat! We went to the shelter in another town for one certain kitten we saw online and we loved the way she looked, long fur and beautiful colours. But when we got there, there was another kitten who was really social and came up to us right away and we just couldn't not take her home! I kept an eye on the shelter's webpage and I was really happy when I saw the one we were planning on taking originally also found a new home a few days later.

I have a boxador (Boxer/Labrador mix) and she was just like Cashew when she was a puppy! She never really barked and was always sweet and friendly, and very needy. Some helpful tips I have for you guys is to bell train her, cover her crate at night, and to mix in wet food with her dry if she doesn’t eat. My dog Luna was always a quiet puppy and wouldn’t let me know when she had to go out, so I trained her to ring a bell when she needed to go out and it was actually pretty easy to do if you’re consistent! For the first month or so she slept in the crate at night, and she was not happy and would whimper a lot. I realized she only whimpered if she could see me, so I took an extra top sheet for my bed and laid it over the crate (we started off with a 42 inch crate off the bat, so the sheet wasn’t too big) making sure to leave some room on the top for ventilation and the whimpering at night stopped. Luna was also picky and didn’t like her food, so we mixed in wet food so it would taste better. Since she was only 3 months old when we got her, we didn’t use much wet food when mixing with her food so it wouldn’t be smart to get those cans of dog wet food because they go bad after 3 days and a lot would be wasted. We discovered Pedigree puppy wet food pouches, which were a game changer! Each pouch is 3.5oz and would get about 3 feedings for the amount she ate. We would just mix in a few spoonfuls until the food was wet and tasted better (now she is 15 months and the pouch gets her 2 feedings) They even have pedigree adult pouches and pedigree senior pouches for when she gets older. Also keep in mind that some food is much lower calorie than others, one food we had Luna on required her to have 7 1/2 cups a day to meet her calorie requirements, and we struggle to get her to eat anyways. We switched her to a higher calorie food that requires 4 cups a day for her weight, which we split into 2 meals that are 2 cups each. It is easier to get her to eat 4 cups than it is 7 1/2 cups. I know that this was a long comment, but I wish I had known these things when I got Luna, it would’ve made all the difference with training her! Each dog is different, Cashew could be so much different than Luna, but it is nice to have some tips just incase. Other people in the comments recommend Chewy.com and getting Cashew an easy-walk harness and I completely agree. Buying dog food in bigger amounts saves a lot of money, but it isn’t fun lugging a 40lb bag of dog food around a pet store. I have an easy-walk harness for Luna and it makes it easier to walk her and it doesn’t risk choking her. Anyways, good luck to you and your little family, and hope the first few weeks are not super stressful 💗

So exciting! We actually add a cooked egg to our dogs dry food for breakfast. He loves it and it's great for his coat and gives him the protein he needs.
I am so happy for you. I think you made the right decision. When we got our dog we originaly wanted his brother but he wouldn't come towards us at all. My dad then told me that when you choose a puppy , you should pick the one that runs towards you first. I think you will be so happy with your pretty little girl ❤️

She is super cute, but I’m sad she was bought, not adopted. When a dog chooses you, it doesn’t let go and I’m glad you found your newest family members, it’s just hard to think about all the dogs that deserve love too who are sitting on cold cement floors, alone.

First...omg she’s adorable. Second...from personal experience be very careful with putting her in a crate with her toys because I had a pup eat one and almost had to have surgery to remove it. It was a hard lesson to learn.
My biggest tip with puppies (I’ve had my own puppies and raised 14 foster pups) I would say get her well socialized and do training every day. Even if it’s just 15 minutes start training her now. That’s a big one. I also kept my pups on a drag line (just a leash) until they are fully potty trained. I basically think of them as babies that just started crawling. They don’t have the freedom to do whatever they want yet because they will get into trouble 😂 stick to a routine just like you would with a small child and stick to your guns with rules! Also most importantly....have fun ❤️❤️❤️
Oohh and also, when training don’t ask for something more than once! So it’s not “sit, sit sit” it’s just “sit” one time! Wait her out so she knows you only ask once!

It's also good that you waited a week to get everything together. I think you made a great choice. I got my puppy at 8 weeks old which now he will be 2 years old next weekend. Having a puppy was very eye opening for me. I didn't realize how much work was involved and even more so for the breed we chose. Some tips I have would be 1. Be patient during all the different states. 2. Be consistent. Always make sure you don't give in to anything you want to make a rule. If she isn't allowed on the couch, you can't allow her to go on there one time and expect her to still listen to your rule later when she wants to get back on. 3. Take a TON of video and pictures. I said I was going to do that when I got Jaxx and looking back, I realized I didn't take enough. 4. Love her to death and give her a lot of affection. You both are so blessed to have such a sweet little girl in your life. I can't wait to see her grow and bond with you both. :D
