This is SO smart, glasses are one of the most expensive single items we purchase especially if you dont have vision insurance. This is such a great idea. Buy the lenses once but change the frames whenever you want? Sign me up
Love it as a consumer, but as a business they will eventually run out of customers if they can’t sell more products. Hope this company has lasting power.
As a former optician I was on board with the Pair idea of having "Toppers" for a base frame until I saw the cost of the Toppers. All the Topper is nothing more than a plastic face plate with magnets on the both outside edges. But they sell for around $21.00 - $27.00 each. My issue with that is that for that for the same price of a Topper you can buy a complete pair of glasses from many other on-line glasses sites. Remember that the Topper isn't changing the shape or style of your glasses, only the color. I think the Toppers should sell for under $10.00 for sure.
Awesome company that makes quality glasses. Have 2 styles. They are a lot like printers, though, in that the core product is cheap and the extras add up in cost. Like, the base frame is pretty cheap if you don't go progressive or get lotsa extras with your lenses, but toppers can be 25-30 a pop, and they're over 400 of them. And youi'll want more toppers. That's where they really make the money.
Glasses get very expensive even at discount stores, when you need progressive lenses. Those are the only lenses that have worked with my migraines and aging eyes.
It's interesting how the Vision care industry works in different countries, with lessons I learned as a digital nomad. In Canada, I was told that with my age and my prescription, I should 'never' wear contact lenses again. And they pointed me to eyeglasses that had a starting price of $750+. Here in North Dakota, I was told that I could wear contact lenses until I was 100 years old, as long as they were comfortable on my eyes. And in Wales, United Kingdom, my eye exam cost all of £10 ($13), while citizens of Wales get their eye exams for free. And my contact lenses were less pricy in Wales, as well.
They are in Irvine, CA. Eyewear machine is not very big, so it's possible to make in America. Soon, the global eyewear monopoly - the Italian eyewear lexotica will try to buy this company to continue it's dominance and control their prices. It's why they charge $400+ for a new pair because the monopolize the industry
@@___beyondhorizon4664 You couldn't be more right. Very few people know that Luxottica is really a glasses monopoly. They own Lencrafters, Pearle vision Centers, J.C. Penny Optical, Sears Optical, Target Optical and even Sunglass Hut. There home base is in Austria. They even sent a memo to all of their stores telling them not to provide anyone with their PD measurement. That was done because you need your PD measurement to order glasses on-line.

I love mine and buying new toppers is addicting ❤
I believe I saw this on Shark Tank.
