Here is a thought in my head and maybe it was explained, but were the machines using the biological components of the Pandorans in order to create that link, going from that biological link to a wireless link to the body rather than wired to wired like the Pandorans have. An industrialization of the tradition the Pandorans had in a symbolic sense.
The artistic symbolics of a technology that enables a bidirectional two way link of the nervous system of a Human driver with that of a Native of Pandora, letting in this case a wounded warrior experience what it is truly like to "walk in the shoes another people" and allowing one to internally feel and experience the world through all there senses.. what a very powerful reflective story telling tool this is in recognition and reflection to the relation with our own history on so many levels.
