Same. Had this small detail not been there, it would have been awesome but would have only met my expectation. Having that in the middle of the ride threw me into full suspension of disbelief, putting me fully into the experience of the movie I loved. That one little detail brought the whole section of the park alive for me, and it actually brought a tear to my eye as I left for the first time.
I have a condition where my brain does not combine the vision from right and left eyes together. (Think split screen TV seeing the same pic) This also means I dont see in 3d like you can and I cant watch 3D movies. Basically I see in 2d, judging distance by comparing size. I.E. larger things = closer and vice versa. Now in 2017 I was extremely excited to ride the ride the first time! Then I saw the glasses and my heart just dropped to the floor cause as you now know, I cant see 3D. Well I went on the ride anyway. I honestly dont know what or how Disney has created such magic.... For the first time in my life I was able to see what you see. I saw in 3D. I was so moved I cried. I'm sure the two cast members that saw me afterwards thought I had been scared. It took me a good hour to recover enough to explain to my husband what I saw/experienced. The only time I get to see what you see every days is during a 5 minute ride over 900 miles away. Thank you Disney, for giving me a chance to see.
I’m in the same boat. Typical 3D movies don’t do much for me, they’re always a bit blurry. I can switch dominate vision between my right or left eye but that only changes what side the ghost image is on. I don’t mind going to most of Disney’s 3D attractions with friends and family, because I can still enjoy the other immersive elements but it’s frustrating knowing I’m missing out on the full experience. I’m really glad new attractions (like Rise of the Resistance) are leaning more towards large high def 4K graphics instead of 3D screens.
Hands down the best ride in Disney. Worth the wait, almost two hours in line. The 4D effects are outstanding, you could even smell the forest at one point when the banshee dives down there. And when you’re flying over water, oh boy, I loved it!
Like others have said, it is hard now to keep your emotions in check. This ride brings out emotions I never knew existed, almost like a different level of euphoria. I kept pondering after the ride and wondered if I had a simple brain because of how well they tricked me. It felt real even though I knew how it worked. This ride should be the standard when building other immersive rides. Thanks Disney for the memories! Great job on the video!
As a Cast Member who works at Flight Of Passage guests will get off in tears. Most people are just really overcome with emotion. I've also been behind the screen while guests are riding it's quite a cool experience.
The pre-show story layers that include language examples like "You will be taking part in a cermony experence (with permission from the Na'vi") are also running under this this. All human beings at there very core hold these internal layers of recognition for the refective examples shown in flight of passage , plus almost anyone holds there own internal dream of flying .. At this imersive level, it does not matter at all what culture ones is from its a universal layer of recognition, This deep internal layer of recognition inside all of us is going to "see" and internaly connect with these layers at a very powerful emotive level. Avatar's storyverse is more root refective then many think , but one would need to know the roots of our own very real world indigious history ,, In relation to Avatar I am going to reflect two names all refrenced on youtube , A living peacemaker and respected Leader "(Jake) Swamp" and The Blue Lynx woman (A lynx is a cat) "Jigonsaseh" .. "The Erie People: The Chat/Cat Nation - The Long Tail People" (do a search on youtube). From the roots of Very real world living history,.. th-cam.com/video/9iVziGHPhVw/w-d-xo.html (Where did James Cameron grow up ? in the Area near Niagera falls)..
Same! Went last summer, and was so emotional when I got off. The music! The experience! Everything was beautiful and overwhelming. A favorite ride at Disney for sure!
I hope you get to go soon! Me and the wife went to visit friends who work for Disney and they got us in for free, the que is jaw dropping and the ride is nothing short of breathtaking! The first drop can make people sick cuz of how realistic it is but it's hands down the best ride I've ever been on and I also love the avatar universe so it was something truly special. Sivako!!
This is most likely the best ride in the history of the world. It is an amazing visually stunning ride. It is pure joy. I can still smell the scents of the ride.
Katya Weikel yeah... but it’s screens. Well, I shouldn’t criticize, cause I didn’t get to go on it. I waited the full 3 hours but had to secure our reservations :/
Aaleyah Adebayo exactly it’s feels like you’re right there, and if it didn’t feel like you were right there then you wouldn’t feel yourself falling like the screen does when flying...
One of the absolute best rides I have ever been on. Feeling the Banshee breathe while you ride while on it was a complete surprise and it made the ride. It felt like you were actually getting a little taste of riding for real. It is amazing how advanced rides are becoming. I love it.
I rode this my senior year of high school. The whole time I was on it, I could not stop thinking about how I would love to know the technical stuff behind the ride. I'm now a sophomore in college and am so happy to have found this video. Thank you for doing the research and, more importantly, sharing that research with us.
i mean the actual queue of rotr is basically just rocks....i think once you get into the room with bb-8 and the rey hologram, that’s considered part of the attraction
@@america091397 it's coconut milk and rice milk with a bunch of other flavors that don't mix. I haven't personally tried it, but I do know of people who wanted to, bought it, took one sip and threw it in the trash can. I don't understand Disney's need to make everything super bizarre and weird with SW:GE. A standard vanilla milkshake with blue, yellow or green food dye would have been the safest way to go.
We have waited over two hours multiple times. The attraction is incredible. So much emotion. Absolutely love it snd it never gets tired. Thank you for this video.
when we went on it we were lucky enough to get very short queues. we rode it four times. three times in a row, a final time before we left the park. it felt like riding it the first time every time. there's nothing like it out there, it's a life changing experience
I worked as a project supervisor at DH Griffin installing the ride, the mechanical part of it. I was there since the first anchor bolts, to the first time the ride came to life. I can tell that is an amazing technology! The safety features are the best. There are miles of tubing to deliver the mist and scent. In the 4th room, 3 floor in the right section is an easter egg: There is one beam with all the signatures of every single amazing man and woman that made the magic happen.
Fantastic job. Everyone who worked on it should be very proud. I hope you all know how much we love the ride and appreciate the hard work the went into it.
I was part of the team that built the screens, unfortunately none of us actually got to test the ride out and as we where all from England, it wasn’t exactly easy to pop back to have a go
Imagine if the next avatar movie is completely 4d like this and had its own exclusive theater with all the equipment to move the seats, pump out smells and air, and mist you AHHHH that would be so cool!!!!
You know, I’ve always wondered why Disney doesn’t have their own multiplex cinema inside the Magic Kingdom that exclusively plays Disney films. Feels like there’s a lot they could do with that as far as tailoring the experience to each specific film or franchise. I guess theater-studio ownership laws make it difficult.
@@syzer3056 I'd say even more. Because a whole movie with Avatar technology costs hundreds of millions of dollars, and usually that gets made again by being watched worldwide in cinemas. ====== Hindsight: This is long. But I'll keep it in here for people who might be interested into the numbers and how it could work out, and also why not. It was fun a few hours to fiddle around and learn about the numbers of Disney World and how Mathematics and Economics are connected. ====== Let's see, and get some data. Epcot has about 12 million visitors per year. Ok with that, it would probably attract more people from other theme parks to Epcot. Let's take the overall number: The resort gets about 60 million viewers per year. Let's half that to 30 million to get a realistic number, because probably not everyone would go there (-), but it would also attract a lot more visitors (+), so that might be a good estimate. Hmm - looking at the high price - half it again to 15 million visitors for that specific attraction. Avatar 2 did cost 350-400 million dollars, let's take the lower number of that. Flight of Passage did cost 200 million dollars to build. Now I don't really know much about maintenance, power and operation costs. Mhm, let's just take a wild guess: 3 million dollars per year. 350+200=550. Let's just make it 555, if I forgot something. Alright: 555/15=~37$. Wow, that's not all too much. Maybe I overestimated how many people would go there. Ah yes, right, it can't handle 15 million people per year on that ride. Of course. Now I have to find out the capacity. Give me a second... 1440/hour. Since I couldn't find any information when and how long the ride is under maintenance, let's guess 2 weeks, so 365-14=~350 days. Epcot is opened from 8:30am (early access for resort guests) to 9:00pm, that's 12.5 hours. So: 1440*12.5*350=6.3 million per year. But I forgot, that of course that capacity will drop. Let's take the usual length of 1.5h for a movie plus 15 minutes for cleanup or something in between, and calculate again. 12.5h / 1.75h = ~7 screenings per day. According to parktourist: "The Avatar Flight of Passage has four theaters with six rows per theater and can accommodate up to eight riders per row, for a total of 192 people at once." 192 people per screening. So: 7*192=1344 visitors per day. 1344*350=470,400 visitors per year. That changes everything. Because 555,000,000/470,400=1180$, if you want to make it back in 1 year. Let's cap that to 100$, then it would be 11.8 years to make it again in revenue. But you'd need a new movie at least every 3 years to keep people interested. So it's 200 (building cost) + 350*4 (movies) + 3*12 (operation)=1,636 million dollars for those 12 years. Let's calculate the ticket cost: 1,636,000,000/470,400*12=290$. That's too much, have to cap it again to 100$. ALRIGHT: It's impossible: I have entered this formula into Wolfram Alpha: (200 + 350*x/3 + 3*x) / (0.4704*x). The LIMIT of the function is 254.393$. That's this inverse exponential nature. That means: Even if we consider an INFINITE amount of years, even then the best we can do is a ticket price of ~255$ per person. And then it's break even. Wow, I've never had that and applied Math that way. So it means, it is not possible to get a price of 100$ given the costs that it takes and the capacity that one Flight of Passage theater has. So: What if we build 2? Or instead of more guessing, let's solve this equation again, and set a realistic approach of 21 years: (200*x + 350*21/3 + 3*21*x) / (0.4704*21*x) = 100. The answer is ~3.38. So let's assume 4 theaters: ~90$. Bingo. With the numbers of theaters we can scale it up. But what would the investment sum be for those 4 theaters and 7 movies over 21 years? 3.5 billion dollars. So yes, with 3.5 billions dollars and a ticket price of 100$ it could be done. The problem probably is, that I was way optimistic about visitor numbers. How many would really do this? Aren't 1.5 hours too exhausting? And also, a movie has more than just you flying around. The whole concept is questionable. If it's not a concept that consistently draws people in for 7 movies over 21 years, filling 7 screenings per day from morning to evening, it also wouldn't work. These questions should be asked in the beginning. However, I learned something today. That was fun, and gives insight into what is possible, and what isn't. But: What is possible in theory, might not work out in practice.
This past year I went to Disney World for my first time (a life long dream). I was blown away the whole time, and just barely able to keep my emotions in check. Until I got on Flight of Passage. Between the beauty of the ride itself and the joy I could hear for the people around me, I couldn't help myself but cry with delight.
I rode this with a friend who got a special pass so we went in what I think was the fast pass line & saw none of the queue. 1st world problems i know & skipping the 3hr wait was Disney magic in & of itself, so I'm grateful for these videos.
The wait is like 4 hours but honestly it’s 100% worth the wait. I’d wait 6 hours for this thing if that’s what it took. This ride will change your life
Just rode it today and I’m still blown away. This is something I will never forget. Most amazing ride ever. I thought Harry Potter was great but this took the cake for me. Definitely will be going back.
There is nothing like this ride anywhere. Maybe the Harry Potter ride film is on the same level, but something about this ride is amazing. I'd wait two hours for this ride without even thinking. One thing I always tell people when they ride it is when they're at the rest scene (you'll know when you're there), take a second to stick your head out and look in all directions. Amazing how many people they fit in there. Sure it doesn't have the speed or thrills of a true roller coaster, but this ride is beyond anything. When we went in May 2019, we had a fastpass for this ride later in the day and did the River Journey at rope drop. Since everyone was at this ride waiting in line, we high tailed it to Everest after River Journey and rode it over and over. Literally six times before the Pandora crowd made its way over to Everest. Then we came back later at night to ride this again.
Very creative, immersive and innovative ride. Disney is good at the details, and they don’t disappoint with this ride. This is one of few attractions that’s managed to make this middle-aged man smile the whole ride and say “wow” out loud several times. Truly a magical moment. I knew there was a lot of technology and engineering behind this, but this video revealed just how extensive it is. Fun to know that cast members could see my reactions when riding this the first time today! Haha.
Just went on this ride this weekend, and I’ve never been this impressed by any other ride- it’s the most exhilarating one I’ve ever been on! I was screaming with excitement the entire time. It truly feels like you are really flying, and who doesn’t want to fly?? Best ride ever.
Something I noticed while riding: right before the ride starts, you're told to look at the screen on the front of the seat itself that shows science stuff. Then when the ride starts, the room goes dark and a strobe light that blinks from somewhere near the screen temporarily blinds you to hide the transition of how they change the sci-fi facade into the projection screen. I'm still not sure how they do that.
The wall in front of you simply moves/tilts upwards and that's it. The strobe lights are to distract you so you don't notice it as well as to prevent your eyes from adjusting to the darkness. Additionally colored lights are projected onto the wall which are also the first sequence on the actual screen to make the transition even more seamless.
In August 2020, my family and I visited Disney World in the middle of the pandemic. It was very empty, and most ride queues were no longer than 15 minutes. We ended up going to Flight of Passage and waited for maybe 10 minutes. It wasn’t any of ours first time riding but it’s incredible each time. When we got off, a staff member offered to let us ride again and it was the best.
@@MeGustanLosTacos1013 there was a ton of social distancing precautions set that we obviously followed, but there was also hardly anybody there. also, we wouldn’t have gone, but my mom is a travel advisor (she plans vacations for people) and she gets tons of discounts. she ended up getting a huge discount and we went. she also just liked the idea of going with no lines.
Great video. Would have been cool to see a floor plan of the show building to show not only flight of passage and Navi shared space but also how each of the flight queues leads to different theatres.
This ride made me cry first time I rode it on how amazing and real it feels. Ride it every time I go it always feels peaceful too.these new rides are amazing, being able to take the Millenium falcon into hyper space, rise of the resistance and also the rides at universal and island of adventures are just another lever. Very nice work 👍🏼👌🏼
By far Flight of Passage was the best ride I have been on. Amazing is an understatement. I have no words to describe how beautiful and magnificent it was. ❤
The Banshee’s breathing and the smell of the cave really had me sold on it, it was such a surreal experience. I will forever wonder how they got that smell in a ride like this. I suggest that if anyone goes to Animal Kingdom, they ride this, because it is worth the wait.

Most information on Disney rides is not readily available to the public and is very much kept under wraps. I rely on employees who reach out to me with information on the agreement of anonymity for obvious reasons, and while I do try and vet this info, it's not always gonna be 100% spot on.
Coaster Labs There are actually 10 projectors per room. 3 stacked in the middle and 1 on each side rotated vertically. All of that x2 (one for each eye). Also, the back of the ride cannot move up and down, it is purely fixed in place but allows rotation as the front half moves. It’s hard to tell that the back doesn’t move if you’ve only seen it from the guest’s perspective but behind the back wall there are giant bearings that hold one side of the platform while the other side moves up and down.
@@AmusementLabs Any chance you can point to where it's stated the screen is transparent and case members are behind it watching the audience? This just doesn't seem accurate. I'm in film and have used Imax and other technologies and have seen slightly transparent screens (especially noticeable if no video is projected), but once film/video is started it's nearly impossible to see through the screen.
Billy Reichard the screen is made out of metal and is technically transparent because it’s filled with small holes about the size of a pencil eraser (the small pink one on actual pencils) so when the show lights are on and the projection is playing it is very much so transparent but not amazingly clear or anything my
Just rode this ride yesterday and let me tell you at first it was scary but after the fear went away a felt nothing but pure ecstasy, having been giving the illusion of flight was enough for me to feel alive .
Love this ride...Wife and I did the rope drop, and got on with almost no wait. Then went back, towards the end of the day and waited in the line (90 minutes) and rode again. Ryan Petersen before the park officially opens, cast member carry a large rope to contain the crowd until a specific point. They then drop the rope, and you go to the ride.. so, basically park opening
Ryan Petersen we generally get to the parks 60-90 minutes before official opening time. If the crowds are deep, the manager will allow guests into the park a few minutes early. The closer to the head of the line you are, the better your chances of a very short wait for premium rides (FoP, Soarin, Test track, 7DM, and the like)
Rode this ride for the first time completely blind last week and my mind was absolutely blown away. I'm heavy on the side of preferring traditional dark rides over simulators, but everything about this ride from the queue to the ride systems is absolutely mind blowing, surprisingly it may be my favorite attraction at Disney World.
My wife and I loved it so much we went on it back to back 3 times in one day. They did a great job in details for everything. A true 4D experience that's near perfection.
I don't remember the lab, but this is definitely the best immersion ride Disney has ever created. I rode it in 2019 and I was almost in tears during the ride because it was a most beautiful experience.
I remember I went to the park when this was still a new ride and waited for about 4 hours in line. It wrapped all the way from one end of the park to the next. It was so worth the wait, though! The visuals, the mechanics, the build up, it all felt so real and I loved it! 10/10 would definitely ride again!
When I rode this ride I had no idea I would love it so much. It was well done and every little detail from the wind in your face to the simulated breathing of the ikran made the ride one of the best I ever experienced.
This ride created one of my favorite theme park moments, I was riding flight of passage for the second time and I was trying to figure out how they did it, so I was looking around and decided to look to my , and saw a wall of people. I was filled with shock and wonder, marveling at the ingenuity of designers who had had been able to create the illusion. My love of the ride was enhanced, not dampened by knowing the secret, which is part of the reason why I love this channel so much. By letting us see how the designers pull off these magic tricks we can gain a better appreciation of how amazing these attractions truly are.
That was great! Maybe I will lose some weight and get to ride this thing sometime. BTW I noticed you took my suggestion to slow down. It shows and you did awesome man!
Do you happen to know what the weight restrictions are? I'm 780 lbs and would love to experience this amazing ride!!! Great video! Can't wait for the next one!
@@stateradio115 it wasn't a weight restriction that killed me. It's a combination of my knees being too tall to fit inside the restraints, and my body being too far back in the seat. If I were slightly shorter I probably would still get away with it but with the combination of the 2 it was the killer. I am 6'3" but was 6'4" with the shoes I was wearing that day which is also part of the reason for the ride didn't work out for me.
This ride is the coolest thing I've ever seen. 2 yrs later I still remember being blown away by the experience. We had local FL people in line behind us (on a Friday night). They told us they come to the park just to go on this ride and the 3hr wait is worth it.
It seems that the creators of this ride put lots of love on it! Definitely I cried the first time I tried it! The best ride I have ever seen with no doubt
Tip: If you want the full experience, don't go in the Lightning Lane! The Lightning Lane skips out on the entire laboratory walk-through section and just goes straight to the hallway leading to the ride.
Of the rides with long lines of waiting, this one I don't mind because of just how much detail and attention went into the lab room to add imersion and the like.
Very amazing ride. The only thing I don’t like about it is the 3D aspect of it. Idk if it’s the glasses or something else but I always get double vision when I ride it
Are these comments serious? This motion simulator was so good that it made half of you cry? Or are a lot of these just "10 year olds" who went to Disneyland for the first time? Either way, I'd love to see what the fuss is about. Haven't been to Orlando in years.
The Disney Expert Of All Time for me the ride is just so magical. It makes you feel apart of their world. It brings you in with its small details like the “banshee” that you sit on feels like it’s breathing. It’s indescribable how you really feel like you’re flying with them. Just for a few minutes it’s like you’re in another world!
The Disney Expert Of All Time it’s hard to narrow it down, but I’d have to say that feeling the banshee “breathing” what probably the most unexpected part, and the excitement of letting yourself get lost in the ride is just such an amazing experience
The breathing of the Banshee shocked and delighted me when I rode it in 2022. It made an already very immersive experience that much better. Incredible ride!
The queue and all its visual elements are a part of the experience story as a whole , for example you are told that what you are about to experience (Take part in) is rights of passage ceremony ,"past" history is explained (important point).. a key phrase in Na'vi used by the Na'vi Guide is core explained.. refelctive cultural identity aspects and art are shown ,, it adds to the layers of the experience ..
@@mikel9567 back in the normal times, this ride was easily a 2 hour wait almost any time of the day, every day. Sometimes over 4 hours on numerous occasions.
Avatar is one of my favorite movies EVER! I was so excited to see the new Avatar way of water in 3D at the theaters, and it was absolutely incredible, but when I went on this ride, it was like I was back in Pandora again, in my avatar. Every detail was essential, and it really worked! I really was in Pandora. When the ride was over, I wanted so badly to drop my human life and become part of the na'vi. Overall, incredible!
My family & I experienced it this past Wed! Kids loved it so much we rode it twice! Wife screamed most of the ride & got motion sick; Fair Warning! Best 3-D VR ride we ever rode! Its worth the 30-90 minute wait in line! Great video! Now I know how it works, Feels & Looks So Real!!
Biger Boy oof I was sad when I had to flight back to Chile 😭 but I cherish the memories so much, I hope I can go back 😃 I couldn’t stop smiling for like an hour after riding flight of passage
Very impressive. I hear people complain that all the best technology and rides are in overseas Disney Parks. I disagree. WDW is a masterpiece in technology.
For anyone saying the ride was underwhelming, I highly recommend trying it again. Your location in the ride room can have a strong impact on your experience. Sitting on the second level of any of the four ride rooms, in seats towards the center of the load rooms is ideal (8 and 9 are the best).
The day I rode this they were having a grounding issue and couldn’t promise it would be up again that day but there was still a chance. We were at the front of the line with 20 or so other people and decided to stick it out. We got in line 8:30am and the ride finally went up at 1:30pm. The unanimous sense after the ride was the wait was absolutely worth it. We got in line during the tree show and only waited about 30 minutes to ride again. Such an incredible ride experience and I’d happily wait hours again
The first time I rode FOP I had to look away as I felt intense motion sickness once it started to move (I don't usually feel nauseous on rides with the exception of the Forbidden Journey at Islands of Adventure). I have never felt this nauseous on any attraction ever and when I got off had to rest on one of the benches they provide immediately at the exit of the theater and said to my partner (who thought it to be the best ride experience he has ever had) that I would never again go on it. That night I woke up at 2AM annoyed that I did not experience what others experienced and made the decision to go back to Animal Kingdom equipped with Drammine and it was truly the most amazing theme park experience I have ever had and the best decision to give it a second go. Did again feel a little squeezy but nothing compared to how I felt the day before. I literally can't wait to travel back to WDW all the way from England just to experience this ride!
I also experienced horrific motion sickness on this ride in particular! I had to close my eyes for the second half, it was just too much. Before that happened though, my curiosity caused me to crane my neck out and look around me. I released that there was an entire other row of people next to mine, and one above, and one below... The realisation of the crazy mechanism I was in the middle off was the mind-blowing thing I took from the ride, and ultimately brought me here to see more of it.
@@BrotherSergeantFlynn Take Drammine and give it another go! It will be worth it. It is incredible how sync the movement is along with the picture and how it actually make you feel like flying.
I'm so glad I was able to experience it. I was terrified and had my eyes closed most of the time (I'd make a crappy navi) but the experience was worth the terror, feeling the Banshee breathe was amazing. I felt like I was actually riding a dragon
Normally I’d want a chance to ride spoiler-free and then try to figure out how it works… but it’s seeming pretty likely I’ll be dead soon. So thanks for the upload! Enjoying it vicariously is a nice treat for today.
Rode FoP twice during my trip to WDW in October and it was definitely an awesome experience. This is the first time I actually saw the queue since I was able to get fastpasses for both times that I rode it and skipped the line.
Woaw this is amazing. I’ve always wondered how Disney rides operate. Especially seeing the whole ride with the lights on is awesome. These types of things make me want to be an engineer.
I teared up a couple times riding this. The simulation is def more intense than most other sim rides (combines Soarin with Star Tours), but if you're a drop hater PLEASE dont skip out on this one. It will make you uncomfortable (the stomach feeling more because youre getting thrown around than any real drops) but the experience is so so worth it
The first time I rode this,I was blown away. I loved the strobes to magically transition into the scene. Then the adventure starts. Went a k in Sept of 20 and because of the pandemic, this ride was a walk on. Still went through the que line, but no one was there. We did it twice in a row. That will never happen again!
I was amazed that I didn’t see the wall in front of me open and close. This was our favorite ride we rode at Disney. We got in line when it was light out and when we came out of the ride we weren’t sure if we were inside or outside. The whole area glowed at night and it was amazing.
Nice blog ! We just found your channel. Then when watching with my hubby I notice that 2 of the people getting on the ride looked like Tim and Jen tracker from the back ! 😊 there some of our favorite Orlando area bloggers.
When the guy says "It's one of the most advanced rides Disney have ever created"... that's a hell of a high bar it's meeting there. Disney love to go to town on these things.
Hi from the UK, great imformative video. Was in Florida back in december, and rode this twice...WOW, amazing ride, up there with Escape from Gringotts, Hagrids Motorbike Adventure, and Rise of the Resistance.
Rode this in January. It is amazing. I usually struggle with a bit of nausea on these types of rides due to frame rates being low and the motion blur, but this one was less of an issue. I was able to look off in the distance at several points to help control that. It pauses enough for you to take in the scenery that it's not just a constant overload of motion.
Love your videos! Just FYI.. projector screens have always been made with holes in them to make them acoustically transparent, usually hiding the main channels speaker arrays so that the sounds comes from the screen. This means that you can actually see the audience from behind the screen in most theaters. This is because most of the projected light is reflected away from you, back at the audience. Since you're in complete darkness and they are not, they become very easy to see. There may be optical reasons to perforating the screen in addition to the acoustical transparency, such as cutting down on light blooms from the projector lamp, but I'm not sure. Hope this is helpful!
Great video as always Coaster Labs! I’m not sure if which is my favorite of yours anymore since they are all so high quality. Love this attraction and was glad to be a part of its operations! Also, glad to have helped give insight into how it all actually works and some secrets about it as I was a contributor!! 😊 So I guess I’ll be biased and say this is my favorite! Thanks for all you do!
@@AmusementLabs ^_^ Keep up the amazing work and looking forward to helping as I can anytime and seeing what else you cover in the future, from big E-Tickets to things completely out of left field! ^_^ Best of Luck and thanks again for an excellent showing of an attraction so many of us love and even a few have had the privilege to operate and know its secrets from the queue to the attraction itself. :)
The whole experience from walking up the line to seeing the lab and getting scanned in the chambers, it was breathtaking once I felt the chair tighten up I knew I was in for a ride !! It was dope 👌 10/10 recommend.
The line was insane we where waiting for two hours though it was very pretty but it was an amazing ride I don't regret riding it the banshee breathing was so weird but so cool and it was just so beautiful
The sacks that simulated the Banshee breathing was something that really took it to the next level for me. Small but Important.
And that little buzz along the spine as you link in.
Me too
this was the thing that made it so special for me
I was so immersed by this as an adult I ended up petting the chair I’m embarassed to admit...
Yeah, the glasses will help recombine the image to an extent, but it'll still be 2D.
Beautiful comment and memory. Please send feedback to Disney too if you haven’t already! 💙
@@wesley815 I would love to but 'm not sure how to do that. Could someone point me in the right direction?
Omg i have the same condition as you... im so happy you said that.. i will be able to see it as well when i go ☺️🧡
I’m in the same boat.
I bought the candle in the gift shop but won't light it. It smells of Pandora...ahhhhh ❤️

As an avatar fanatic it’s like my goal to experience this. reading how this made people literally cry just makes me so excited to ride it one day.
yea it’s really fun you should ride it btw i’d ride it first in the park because the line is very long
You should ride it once through the stand-by line and once with a lightning lane pass. The que itself is almost worth the wait if its your first time.

I hope you get to go soon! Me and the wife went to visit friends who work for Disney and they got us in for free, the que is jaw dropping and the ride is nothing short of breathtaking! I rode it 3 times in 1 day, worth the wait every time. It was so immersive

Same bro it just made me feel so free idk how to explain it lol
omg me too. I thought I was the only one crying after this ride.
I have to say, this is hands down my favorite ride ever. I will gladly wait 2-3 hours to ride it over and over again
If you get to the park right when you are allowed to, then the line is really only 45 minutes to an hour.
We have waited over two hours multiple times. The attraction is incredible. So much emotion. Absolutely love it snd it never gets tired. Thank you for this video.
Andre DeVine next time get a fast pass! But it is definitely worth the wait 😭
Andre DeVine I waited 4 hours with my then pregnant wife 2 years ago, AMAZING THOUGH
i waited for 95 mins without eating lunch but worth a ride and forgot eating after that... kept remembering & rejoicing it for last 1.5 years...
when we went on it we were lucky enough to get very short queues. we rode it four times. three times in a row, a final time before we left the park. it felt like riding it the first time every time. there's nothing like it out there, it's a life changing experience
I waited about 2 hours also. I decided to ride a second time and found out I could have used my fast pass 😂
It's truly a run-away hit and a job well done. Don't care that it's a screen ride, the queue is half the experience and the ride itself is great. 🙂
The cost would be huge tho…
You know, I’ve always wondered why Disney doesn’t have their own multiplex cinema inside the Magic Kingdom that exclusively plays Disney films. Feels like there’s a lot they could do with that as far as tailoring the experience to each specific film or franchise. I guess theater-studio ownership laws make it difficult.
For that they would for sure have to charge at least $100 a person or more to cover for the build, power consumption and maintenance.
@@syzer3056 I'd say even more. Because a whole movie with Avatar technology costs hundreds of millions of dollars, and usually that gets made again by being watched worldwide in cinemas.
======
Hindsight: This is long. But I'll keep it in here for people who might be interested into the numbers and how it could work out, and also why not. It was fun a few hours to fiddle around and learn about the numbers of Disney World and how Mathematics and Economics are connected.
======
Let's see, and get some data.
Dude you can already watch Avatar 1 and 2 in 4D
This past year I went to Disney World for my first time (a life long dream). I was blown away the whole time, and just barely able to keep my emotions in check. Until I got on Flight of Passage.
I'm a HUGE fan of Harry Potter and I'm not even a fan of Avatar, but I think the Flight of Passage is a much better ride.
‘Of a true rollercoaster’ not every ride is a rollercoaster, and this one definitely isn’t anywhere near one
Haha.
I cry every time I am on this ride. I just get so overwhelmed with the beauty of it.
Same here.

Coaster Labs There are actually 10 projectors per room. 3 stacked in the middle and 1 on each side rotated vertically. All of that x2 (one for each eye). Also, the back of the ride cannot move up and down, it is purely fixed in place but allows rotation as the front half moves. Rope drop?
Ryan Petersen before the park officially opens, cast member carry a large rope to contain the crowd until a specific point. They then drop the rope, and you go to the ride.. so, basically park opening
Ryan Petersen we generally get to the parks 60-90 minutes before official opening time. If the crowds are deep, the manager will allow guests into the park a few minutes early. The closer to the head of the line you are, the better your chances of a very short wait for premium rides (FoP, Soarin, Test track, 7DM, and the like)

The visuals, the mechanics, the build up, it all felt so real and I loved it! 10/10 would definitely ride again!

@@Elmerstudd007 my dad had the exact same issue! he asked to take his shoes off to have his knees fit and they said no :(
@@stateradio115 at 780 we should ride you
@@fusion451 oh that's fucked up
This ride is the coolest thing I've ever seen.
Idk if it’s the glasses or something else but I always get double vision when I ride it
Me too! It was sort of blurry for me and the people I rode with. I was wondering if it meant I was higher up or lower rather than in the center row
Yea I thought the same thing.
@@hitz310 Apparently sitting to the side can do that too for some people. It was a bit blurry to me too.
You need to sit towards the middle of the cinema and floors 2 or 3 to get the best experience. So probably between seats 6-8 and 9-11.
The wait for this ride is so worth it! I love how real the ride feels. It’s so magical
Are these comments serious? This motion simulator was so good that it made half of you cry? Or are a lot of these just "10 year olds" who went to Disneyland for the first time?
Either way, I'd love to see what the fuss is about. Haven't been to Orlando in years.
Finally got to ride this with my family 9/18/2021. This was unbelievable we all enjoyed it. The details and all you felt really apart of the world.
Do yourself a favor and ride Flight of Passage at least once. It’s absolutely incredible.
What is the most incredible part about it to you?
The Disney Expert Of All Time for me the ride is just so magical. It makes you feel apart of their world. It brings you in with its small details like the “banshee” that you sit on feels like it’s breathing. It’s indescribable how you really feel like you’re flying with them. Just for a few minutes it’s like you’re in another world!
The Disney Expert Of All Time it’s hard to narrow it down, but I’d have to say that feeling the banshee “breathing” what probably the most unexpected part, and the excitement of letting yourself get lost in the ride is just such an amazing experience
Best ride of my life period! Great video.
It would be neat to see them take some of this technology and make it into a star wars podracing or something related ride
@Andrew P Yeah but the technology of both aren’t the same as this, especially Star Tours seeing how old it is
The breathing of the Banshee shocked and delighted me when I rode it in 2022. It made an already very immersive experience that much better. Incredible ride!
Now I almost regret having ridden this via a FastPass, as I missed all of those queue special effects.
Eh, no ride at Disney is worth a 2 hour wait. Fastpass was the only way to ride this bad boy.
@@jackwilliams303 I've been to both Disneyland and Disneyworld and I have never had a 2 hour wait. Longest I waited was 45 minutes.
@@mikel9567 back in the normal times, this ride was easily a 2 hour wait almost any time of the day, every day. Sometimes over 4 hours on numerous occasions.
I waited 3 hours with my phone dead, i would have killed for a fast pass 😂😂
I roped dropped this for a ten minute wait! Completely worth it🤩
This ride brought tears to my eyes
This experience was incredible! I believe VR would make it even better, as you wouldn't see people around you anymore and feel totally immersed
I am watching this while waiting in line to ride it. 🤣
Biger Boy how was it?
@@f3rzz476 Loved it. But now I am back in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷😭😂
Biger Boy oof I was sad when I had to flight back to Chile 😭 but I cherish the memories so much, I hope I can go back 😃 I couldn’t stop smiling for like an hour after riding flight of passage
‘This must’ve set ‘em back a couple hundred bucks’
Very impressive. I hear people complain that all the best technology and rides are in overseas Disney Parks. I disagree. WDW is a masterpiece in technology.
My daughter brought me here on my 68th birthday yesterday. This ride made me feel nowhere near my age. What an amazing experience!
For anyone saying the ride was underwhelming, I highly recommend trying it again. Your location in the ride room can have a strong impact on your experience. Sitting on the second level of any of the four ride rooms, in seats towards the center of the load rooms is ideal (8 and 9 are the best).
It's a really fun ride. Very visually stunning. Looking forward to riding it again.
Emotional experience. Amazing. The smells stay with you forever. Yes i bought the candles haha
I had tears both time on same day it was crazy feeling
I was so amazed by this ride! Hence the reason why I’m here watching the inner workings!
I love that you used footage from Tim Tracker. He is amazing
Heather Schmidt ha! I just noticed that!
Can you show how fantasmic works? Like, where they get the pyro, how they control it, how the lights work, etc. Love your videos!
Cancer? You ok?
Just came back from Orlando yesterday and this ride was one of the family favorites. We were lucky to go on it twice.
Got to do this for the first time this year. Most amazing ride iv ever been on and iv done a lot believe me... just incredible!
Spent half a day there doing this three times. Wait time averaging 1.5-2 hours. Worth it. Will absolutely do again if I ever get the chance.
When the guy says "It's one of the most advanced rides Disney have ever created"... that's a hell of a high bar it's meeting there. Disney love to go to town on these things.
Hands down the best ride I have ever experienced.
Glad to hear you liked it and thank you so much for your help. 😃
It’s more than a ride, it’s a whole opening to the land. I got my banshee puppet after it I was so happy. I felt so free and wild while on this ride.
The line was insane we where waiting for two hours though it was very pretty but it was an amazing ride I don't regret riding it the banshee breathing was so weird but so cool and it was just so beautiful
