About AVATAR:
On the lush alien world of Pandora live the Na'vi, beings who appear primitive but are highly evolved. I'm surprised he didn't gasp in fear at her size. Interacting with them in dreams and seeing them in real life would be a night and day experience.
To be fair, he has seen the avatar bodies already so he would have a frame of reference.

Plus, he was wheeling around in his chair around those big mechs, that seems even scarier.
Two things I love about this scene:
1- "My Jake".
2- Neytiri's complete disregard to seeing Jake for the first time in human form. She literally doesn't care, she just wanted to save his life.

She actually says "ma Jake" which in their language is a word for possession of something you love, which is truly amazing

Tsuteys death felt WAY to important to the story to cut out.
In the theatrical he just gets gunned down. But this he actually makes Jake chief and acknowledges him as brother. I FEEL LIKE THATS IMPORTANT

The Extended Cut is leagues better than the Teathrical Cut, and this is one of the reasons why
In a way they are brothers Tsutey was originally promised to Nyteri's older sister but she was killed by RDA years before the story, if they were mated-for-life then that would make Jake and Tsutey brothers-in-laws. After his death he reunited with the one he truly loved

This is weirdly specific, but I love the small detail of her tail hitting the bed at 0:54. It seems so realistic.

I just love how Neytiri sees Jake in his human form and isn’t afraid or even phased. She even smiles and says “I see you”. It’s like She’s really seeing him for who he is/once was and accepting all of him. Human or not, she loves him.
And this may be when she first realizes he is paralyzed. There’s nothing in the deleted scenes or original script about him ever telling her.

I have to say, the attention to details is amazing. Neytiri's tail flopping around in a room that's too small for her, her having a vague understanding of how Avatar piloting and human technology works but being clueless on the details. She knows he needs the breathing mask but has no idea how to put it on.
Hell, even the way his body reacts to high level of CO2 in the air is spot on - not just suffocating but his body reacting to the elevated CO2 level in his blood by hyperventilating, even if he conciously knows it's counterproductive.
James Cameron is known for his attention to the tiniest details. Heck there was a scene the was practiced for 6 weeks which only appeared in this movie for a less than a second. The scene is when Neytiri is charging on that tiger like creature at Quaritch and he flips her. 6 weeks for just that one second.
She is so adorable in this scene 💙 I find it amazing that we have the technology and people with skills to create a character that is not real yet one can have feelings towards them.

I was 21 when this hit theaters but it made me feel like a little kid again. It brought me to the present like nothing else. The amount of wonder it made me feel was similar to when I was 7 and watching lion king for the first time, only even more potent. Who expects to feel even more childlike wonder than they felt as a kid… as an adult? I can’t imagine there ever being anything like the experience of watching this movie for the first time again. Short of taking some kind of psychedelic, but I’m not sure I want to do that … 😆
1:19, when she sighs in relief and smiles, and he takes a few breaths before his eyes start to tear up. It's the moment of fighting the urge to cry from being relieved and moved. Moved because she sees him in his human form and still loved him and saved him, relieved because he is able to see her again, to touch her with his own true hands. It's such a beautiful moment.
Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana brought everything they had to this.
I love how she's so desperate to saving him and is so focused on saving his life she doesn't care about his human form, she just wants him alive. Like 1:01 you hear he little " mmm " and it just shows how desperate she is

Man. I cried like a baby because of this scene. So beautiful. "I see you." I actually started looking at people and animals differently because of this movie.
I don't care what anyone else thinks, this will be forever etched in my mind as one of the most beautiful moments in cinema. That's a personal thing. The first time I saw this it blew my mind.

This is the most beautiful scene in Avatar and nobody can tell me otherwise
It absolutely is. The first time I saw this in theaters, opening night, with zero expectations, this scene in particular almost made me black out or have an out of body experience. Both my brain and my heart went into overload at the same moment. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing: like the they just made the fantasy real right in front of my eyes - and just the beauty of that moment, the true seeing and acceptance, the end of the dream and the embracing of reality. But the genius of this moment is that Jake and Neytiri and the audience are all kind of experiencing the same thing at the same time: “this is real.”
The kind of love these two have for each other is what everyone desires, and most people will never find.

The Na'vi understand love on such a deeper level than their human counter parts. They're not just connected to someone by decisions and experiences. The Na'vi are connected to their mates by spirit. Neytiri and Jame are bound by more than their bodies. With Jake spirit fading like that, of course she could feel it. Bodies don't mean anything to the Na'vi, it's all about your spirit and your heart.
The score in this scene is so beautiful. It’s so tender, soft and loving. It breaks my heart that James Horner isn’t with us anymore. He was one of the greatest.
For real. I would have loved to hear what he did with TWOW. Outside of the Songcord and the whole ending sequence (from the beginning of Kiri’s rescue of the family to the end), which were breathtakingly good, I was not a huge fan of the rest of the score. Most of the rest of it was more of that modern harmony-centric approach (a la Zimmer) whereas Horner still leaned on thematic melody a whole lot.

What I really loved about this film was the love in their eyes. That wide smile made me feel so warm. They were alien, but also very human.
The most beautiful romance scene in movie history. She loves him so much she’s not even phased by seeing that he’s a human and the way she holds him in her arms cause of how big the Navi are compared to humans and how she struggles to put the air mask on his face cause of the Navis lack of knowledge about human technology made this scene so beautiful. This scene perfectly sums up that love has no borders.
I remember watching this for the first time and my mom pointed out that the moment Jake put his hand on her face was the first time he actually touched Neytiri

After seeing the second one its almost baffling how much of an upgrade it is. This is still amazing for a 2009 film, but wow how much it has improved.
I honestly prefer the full extended cut of Avatar 1 vs the original theatrical cut. I feel like the additional scenes add SO much depth to the movie.I don’t know why James Cameron thought it would be a good idea to cut them out when it was released.

Him being able to interact with her more with his Human body would've been a lot more interesting but obviously because of his legs, transferring to his Avatar permanently was the most logical course of action in the end. Still I LOVE the size differences between the two species.

I found that Neytiri is truly a hero she saves Jake from the beginning to the end. Also she's tough outside but too emotional insight. Jake's brave and pretty smart but not enough plus he's sometimes clumsy.

I think Neytiri is biased towards all humans EXCEPT Jake, which can happen in the transition from hating an entire group to being impartial towards them. I did think she’d be more open-minded in the 2nd movie because of Jake, but with what the humans did and the fact that she probably sees Jake as 100% Na’vi, I guess it makes sense that she’s not? Spider definitely deserves better, though. I feel bad for the kid.
@@xspacecl0udx I mean Jake still acts human if I’m being completely honest. He uses cameras for photos. He uses his guns. He checks in with norm and max when Kiri has a seizure. Uses a tomahawk instead of a bow and arrow. Just because he’s a Navi within avatar form it doesn’t make him any less human at heart. I’m surprised Neyitri doesn’t look at Jake and is reminded he was part of the reason her father died. She obviously doesn’t resent him for it anymore. It’s been 15+ years of them happily married before the humans came back but I always wonder if she’s going to break at some point you know. They can never be happy unless Quaritch is dead

I think maybe Jake is just an exception, because Neytiri still clearly does not like humans. It’s also helpful that he’s in a Na’vi form, though. Although she did look at his human form quite lovingly in the first movie 🥹 I wonder how her attitude towards humans will shift. Maybe it won’t at all or maybe she’ll be more at peace after Quaritch is dead. Not blaming her at all because most of the humans she met just wanted to destroy her home.

This scene is so sweet. Jake is willing to risk a lot just to protect her, she the same for him. She attempts to awaken him and senses something amiss. That’s why she looks to the broken shack. While, Jake in human form is struggling so he can get back to his Avatar, he’s fighting a battle he can’t win. He passes out as Neytiri runs to him. She helps him with the mask and sighs happily seeing he’s alright. Knowing this is what her mate is in reality, it’s not his Avatar, it is truly “her Jake”. The endearment of the simple phrase, “I see you.” is the care he has and sees her through his own eyes. She reciprocated it equally and melts into his touch as she holds him close. This is when they saw their true selves.
This scene brings me a strong feeling of love into my heart and tears into my eyes!😭😍

that movie was a freaking blast.
I wish we saw her reaction to finding out his human body is unable to walk. Could've been through conversation or just showing this meeting scene just a little bit longer. It's very unclear how the Na'vi look at disabilities
that would be interesting. she could ask why he was so adamant on being in the Na'vi body. and he explains that he lost the ability to walk. this maybe causes the other tribe members to be more sympathetic or at least understanding.

I think it’s beautiful to see how strong their bond is that we get to see how hard they fell for each other that she could go from being so mean and literally hating humans to not caring whether he was human by the way she just started panicking once she didn’t see him wake up

I come back around and watch this scene once or twice a year. Throughout this movie I was kind of back and forth on whether I liked it, until moment. This scene planted itself in my psyche and stayed there. This is the moment that they made Neytiri real for both Jake and the audience, and hits. The "dream" element is pulled back and it becomes fully real for both Jake and Neytiri, and us. Still my favorite moment in either one of the films that's been released so far, and I'm not sure anything can eclipse it. There's nothing quite like seeing this particular scene for the first time.
