This video lecture is about the Companding. The word Companding is a combination of two words: Companding = Compressing + Expanding. The companding model consists of: Compressor, Uniform Quantizer & Expander. Block diagram of companding has been discussed. Compressor Characteristic and Expander Characteristic have been drawn and explained.
Compander characteristics is the combination of the compressor and expander characteristics, has been drawn and discussed. Types of Compressor Characteristics: mu- Law and A-law. Both of them have been discussed in detail along with mathematical expression and applications.
