I listened to this album while driving to a funeral and it was so, so beautiful. It made me more at peace with losing my friend. We are so lucky to have Pharaoh Sanders still alive and making incredible jazz music at 80 years old, he is truly a legend.

I bought Floating Points' first LP, Elaenia, 6 years ago and among the exquisite geometrical modern art in the sleeves, the sticker on the cover with a Pharaoh Sanders' forward captured my interest. I fell in love with Elaenia and went to Floating Points Ensemble's show when they visited our city -- it was one of the earliest show I've ever been to, and till this day, it is still one of the best. The laser art together with the music created a truly entrancing experience. Sam's improvisation talent and artistic creativity was bursting throughout the whole show, and I had a feeling that night that his greatest work was definitely yet to come. When I saw the names on this record, I knew it's gonna be great. Today, I finally managed to find a block of hour all to myself to play this LP, and music lingered on long after it finished playing. Jazz, electronic and classical are about all I enjoy these days, and this record is definitely one of the best I've ever heard in years. And I can see myself enjoying it for years to come.
Fun fact, I'm about to be a PhD student soon so out of curiosity I checked out Sam Shepherd (Floating Points)'s doctoral advisor's page trying to find his old publications. While that professor listed other academic institutions for his other graduated PhD students as their now current institution, for Sam Shepherd, it reads -- "World Tour".

@@goclbert hot take: i think mahler 5 is better than mahler 9. Mahler 9 is as truly dark and beautiful as what mahler intentions and is truly a sobfuck. However, Mahler 5 has everything that makes a great symphony. I think the 2nd Mahler and 3rd Mahler symphony has it as well. However, Mahler 5 is no way normie... In fact the opposite. Just cause the opening and another movement is kinda famous doesn't mean its normie. In fact all the way through, it is the master of symphonies with by far a perfect opening and incredible ending (i can argue 2nd and even 9th has a better ending but still is a ride through out that makes it perfect
