    It gets far worse when you age. Their thinking is why hire an older person training them only to have them soon leave to retire.

    TIP: If you don't see a lot of senior people in a company, it means they only want cheap people who they fire every few years. Look for companies where you see all ages at the job and that''s also how you'll learn something useful. And stop looking to tiktok video's where young kids hate to work with older people because they hate to learn their job.

      It depends how skilled older employees are at knowledge sharing and whether there's an embedded learning culture. All generations will need to adapt to each other in different ways.

      Not necessarily. Low skill, low pay jobs attract young, inexperienced employees.

      I also look to see how the company is with diversity. Do they step outside the box when hiring or do they like hiring people that look like them?

    Young men should be training to work in the trades because the demand is there and the pay can be quite good.

      @@Solaxer sure, but it is actual work. How many women do you see do hard physical jobs. Equipment to do those jobs can be heavy,dirty, dusty. They use ATS these days. Applicant Tracking System for Resume selection/rejection. Meaning you have to change your resume every now and then with keywords that company is looking for. Best wishes

    ATS is the kiss of death. I understand the 'implied' efficiency BUT it's not helping candidates OR companies. Time to rethink ATS, put in the hard work of actually reviewing submissions.

    Lucy could you recommend some methods to get my resume seen by recruiters after a career gap of 5 yrs due to family reasons as fresher engineer ? How should i mention the gap in resume, phone & direct interview.. what would be some exact methods that could get me the job by applying in a specific way or behaving in some way ?? What does your wisdom says about this problem.. i am a 29 yr old hvac site & design engineer in Aec construction industry with 6 months of internship experience.

    • @jenniferatalla
      @jenniferatalla 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I'm not that woman but yes you write that gap on your resume and also include any relevent work done during that time whether it was an assistant job or something. The way you would write it would be "Family Leave" as the company name then mark the dates and in the description cite that you took time off to focus on your family and is now ready to take the job market. You can also include a small blurb about it at the bottom of your cover letter. It shows that you're a caring person. Good luck!

      @@jenniferatalla That's the whole problem i haven't done any assistant job or course during this time but attended some webinars which i have certificates of, watched videos regarding my field or lectures from experts on TH-cam etc so what reasons should i write in resume & say in interviews if this is the scenario ? If i am relevant with skills, prepared to do the work essential in office will they care about so many other things ??

    • @jenniferatalla
      @jenniferatalla 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@mohibquadri4053 You're overthinking this. You don't elaborate. Grown adults won't ask for follow-up questions on what exactly happened with the family. You had to take time to take care of your family and you're excited to get back to work, here are all the ways how you are excited: everything you listed. You would write all of this in your cover letter as well. This is all the advice I can give to you. Good luck.

One last question i don't know if there's any better ways to ask but are there any top books to read for me to stay encouraged in chaos like in times where desired outcome is not achieved as it becomes tough sometimes to listen to toxic people around us who try to belittle us on every mistake.

    Economy is on fire and there are a record number of jobs that employers can't fill. The people having problems didn't stick with jobs for 2 to 5 years and expect to make 6 figs by age 30. Now they are unhirable thanks to their greed and lack of commitments. There are plenty of jobs if people can take off the I am worth over 70k a year blinders

      This is absolutely not true. You have to look at your individual industry, there may be good statistics but when you break it down theres still a lot of people out of work in a very concentrated area. And some of those people have worked for over 15 years…

      @@bluedenim5979 I meant skilled workers yes. What I see is greedy 27 year olds on reddit making 200k a year with nap pods in the Twitter or Google gigs crying how hard life is and they can't get hired at 180k which in their mind is a wage cut after job hopping every 5 months ... cry me a river!
      I suggested on the reddit forum layoffs to ask for 85k a year and that went out like a lead balloon! lol. Kids today have no idea how good they have it. Yes jobs are harder but it was too far in the other direction. Not everyone works in IT yes but kids out of school making 85k a year with no experience is what is freaking causing inflation. Wages need to go back down and experience matters again

      Why didn't I stick with my last 3 jobs? Because they were hiring for overages in work, and they fire as the work declines. They hire and fire all year. And I had a 98 percent productivity rating.
