  • In part four of our training series with Adam Ondra, we look at building power endurance using a campus board. We visit Adam's home gym as he takes us through his personal regime for building strength. Remember to be careful when trying these exercises, bad technique can lead to injury.

    Any reason why he doesn't wear a weighted vest? Doesn't have to be loads extra just something more to change it up and get more strength.

    • @0_hype
      @0_hype 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      if you take a look at the wall, they are some weighted accessories right there. Im sure he mixes some in - but you will find even a little extra will hinder the endurance part of the workout. with only his body weight, by the end he is really struggling. weighted vest will shorten the amount of time under tension, meaning lower # of exercises, so less coordination and variance in what he is doing.

    • @johnmortimerjbmfitness7753
      @johnmortimerjbmfitness7753 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@0_hype u can get stronger with as little as 40% of your max so technically he may just not need one. He could get more volume in and could train more often perhaps.

  • @daaryl74
    @daaryl74 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's absolutely ridiculous to do anything like that before having 8a level, for 3 reasons.
    The most important thing to work on is mental strength, and it only comes by climbing!
    Secondly, if you work too much on strength you will not improve in technique, and a strong climber with no technique won't get far (high :p).
    Finally the strength will also come by climbing itself (unless you're at least an 8a climber).
    If you really want to practice something for the good of your climbing performance (aside from climbing!!), do stretching! It is way more important and you will see the difference very quickly.

    • @johnmortimerjbmfitness7753
      @johnmortimerjbmfitness7753 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ye i agree. He uses these tools because its safer than constantly pulling on high grades, he can get alot of volume in this way, more efficient than say climbing 30 7a back to back, on very technical stuff.

  • @Pineappletrainable

    His physice got me interested in the doping aspect of climbing..

    • @hurhurhurhurhruhrurh
      @hurhurhurhurhruhrurh 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oskar Wiklund he’s probably not doping. He’s a very small size and the time under tension is key for hypertrophic gains

    • @Pineappletrainable
      @Pineappletrainable 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Doping is the general term. But there are tons of substances he can take that will help his climbing. There is a big misconception that steroids make you big, they don't unless you are training to get big. Runners take steroids, cyklers etc.
      Steroids not only make you stronger, they allow you to train much more without injury, your body recovers faster. It would allow him to train harder and for his ligaments to get stronger as well which is so important for a climber.
      Steroids also help you much more easily loose fat, which is what made me think that doping is probably used a lot. Being as shredded as he his isn't easy, so steroids would help him a ton with his climbing.
      And that is just one substance. So the question remains, I wonder what the culture around doping is in high level climbing.

    • @BobMarley-vl5gl
      @BobMarley-vl5gl 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Oskar Wiklund he’s a competitive climber who competes in high level competitions that have mandatory drug tests once a month and the risk of being caught taking drugs would be to big a risk as he lives off sponsorships etc... there is no way an athlete like Adam would be taking any sort of performance enhancing drug!
