I have been trying to buy American made these days n would like to see a video on where n how to buy American made products at a good price? I have been having to pay much more for American made products but have consciously been buying only American made products, but it often puts a strain on my limited income.
I haven't shopped at Dollar General in many years. I wasn't impressed when I went with the cleanliness of the store or of the selection of items. After this video I am going to have to give Dollar General another look! I love the topiary you showed as well as some of the decor items. I have shopped Dollar General for quite a few years for almost every single reason you have listed here. 1st and foremost, cleaning supplies. ALL cleaning supplies. Dish detergents, laundry items, household cleaning supplies. The prices can't be beat for the sizes being offered. I find it quite interesting that people get all caught up in the, "Oh, I can buy Dawn dish soap at the Dollar Tree"... and yet they haven't figured out that they would be paying over $10 if they were buying that product to equal the amount in a large size bottle at the Dollar General. Thank you for a great informational video... I'm a devoted DG fan, and I'm learning new stuff from you. Some of the items you pointed out in this Top 10, I hadn't really been paying attention to. Also, I'm also excited about the forward moving trend in things getting even better in this 2021 year! GO D.G.!!!
Me too. decor items are pretty nice and at a good price. I especially like the greeting cards, there's a wide selection and the quality matches American Greetings and Hallmark cards for only a dollar!
Dollar General has its own makeup brand called “Believe Beauty” that has some great finds. Their foundation is beautiful, comes in a glass bottle with a pump and retails for $5, with a recently expanded shade range. Also love their radiant primer and nail polishes. A few misses but overall they are crushing it with this cosmetic line.
I live in Argentina and whenever I travel to the US, I buy the Believe Beauty foundation at Dollar General. It’s at the level of high end foundations! Excellent!!! Too bad they don’t sell online... no trips during this long horrible pandemic 🥲
DG has their own cosmetics line called “Believe” excellent quality. Also just released a lot of nail polishes ranging from $1 to $5 that rate as high as $10 to $15 in quality

Their 3 tier cube furniture is fantastic! I wish my local Dollar General’s would carry the rectangle Mr. Clean mop heads because those are the best on the market and SO hard to find! Keep the Dollar General videos coming! I do 80% of my shopping there, I’m disabled and they are close and I save a to of money! Especially with the app!
I love my Dollar General, their rugs are beautiful, I like that its quick in/out and the people there are so nice and friendly. We are lucky to have frozen section and fresh meats that often are marked down for fast sale.

There are Dollar General stores everywhere in my hometown in East, TN and I often go to Dollar General when I don't feel like going to Walmart. Thanks for helping us all save money.

We recently purchased a motorhome. I was thinking of buying things to decorate with at Amazon. Then I went to my local Dollar General. I found really nice kitchen items , towels, bedding, throws, pillows wall art. I saved major money buying at Dollar General. And still got great styled and quality items. I am a big fan of Dollar General. And definitely use the $5 off on Saturday coupon. I always say I’m getting something free when I shop on Saturday with a $5 off coupon. My laundry detergent or paper products. If you coupon and take advantage of the discounts an everyday low prices your dollar will stretch at dollar General, Leslye
I love Dollar General! I find stuff other stores don't sell. It saves me time because I don't have walk through the super marker or Walmart. Also it is less walking on my bad knee. Such a good selection and such good prices. It's so convenient!
just stopped in a nearby Dollar General two days ago.....surprized at all it offered...got a few fairy garden pieces for a $1, easter basket candy and stuffers, Spring motif mugs....some real finds.....

Bedding? Check out Tuesday Morning! They have decent to good quality and carry some of the slightly odd sizing sheet sets. So if you’re looking for a California King size bed, a camper queen size bed... odds are they will have it! And often these are top quality name brands from big brand stores that Tuesday Morning bought their last years inventory at a bargain price. I had a friend and she had a weird shaped round queen bed that she loved to hate, couldn’t find sheets for it. Tuesday Morning had them, they were ugly AF but they had them! LOL!
I've been getting my cleaning and laundry products at DG for a few years now. Decent sale prices, digital coupons, and $5 off $25 coupon on Saturdays makes for some good deals there. Can also found cute socks and t-shirts for cheap, don't last forever but by the time they wear out you're ready for something different anyway.

Report them to corporate headquarters because their manager isn't doing their job. I used to work there and only quit because I had my foot operated on and it was taking to long to heal.
I went into a relatively new one (open about 6 months) in a rural area near me and it was scary. The building felt like a garage inside, very dark, boxes of inventory piled up everywhere, aisles barely wide enough for a cart, and like a maze to get in and out.
Ours are nasty too. They are less scary than Dollar Tree (the manager was screaming at employees while I hunkered down at the back of the store in case I needed to run outside for safety). Dollar Tree, Dollar General, Family Dollar are all super sketchy, poorly managed, and prices not all that great compared to Five Below and Walmart in my area. I was really surprised that Matt made this video.
Hi Matt! To be very honest w you, our Dollar General is always rather junky. But, I have found good deals on kitty kibble and wet food, litter as well. Also, for my hair salon, I have bought darling, printed boxes with a magnet closure for storage. They are great for rollers, perm rods, etc. all the stuff u want to hide in something cute! But I will go check out their rugs!! Never thought of that, ty!!
Two weeks ago DG did a 70% off discount on all of their artwork, I bought one of the 3 piece canvas' for a whopping $3! LOVE THAT! Great video, thank you!
Thanks for this video- Not all Dollar Generals are created equal! In the county I live in we have 3 DG stores. One in the 'farm neighborhood`, one in the 'upscale town and one by the 'low income housing' in the county seat- Guess which one gets all the leftovers from other stores and generally has a very limited inventory. I would love for you to do a comparison video of different DGs in different demographic areas. Love your tips 🌻
They recently revamped our Dollar General, and it's really awesome. It went from being Wal-Mart's bratty, little sister to Target's cool cousin! :D I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw fresh produce and really good hair product brands. They even have Seventh Generation dish soap. We live about 20 minutes from town, so it's really nice to have a place this good nearby.
I like their one dollar shelves I find name brands of all kinds of items. I like getting big bottles of hand soap, just be sure to check the liquids they might've been opened. They are having up to 90% off seasonal items including clothing right now. Also I hear they'll have remodeling sales too. Thanks Matt☺
Toilet paper!! I buy the DG brand toilet paper...just as good as name brand and $10 for a large package! And I go on Saturday's to take advantage of $5 coupon!
After Christmas I bought tons of items for .25 - including Oreos! The next week Christmas items were .10 but actually rang up for .05! I bought bags full! Really awesome!
OMG, HE LISTENED!!! I asked for a DG video a few weeks ago and MATT DELIVERED!!! A lot of the DGs are also remodeling (or have remodeled recently) and now include actual food, not just microwave meals and snacks. Unless it's a specific brand (like Clear'n'Natural carbonated water) or a specific product I need, I RARELY set foot in my actual grocery store now. Just... avoid the produce at DG; it's GROSSLY overpriced. $3 for a SMALL head of lettuce or 4 bananas for $1?!? That's quite high!!!
I go to DG all the time. One by me doesn't have produce, but I do get some frozen food there. A box of frozen hamburger patties with 16 in them cost about $7.00 at DG, but that same exact brand at grocery store is $10. I also the DG brand of flavored sparkling water. It is 75 cents for a liter and tastes great. So I stock up on that stuff every week. Always get my cleaning supplies there.
In my area a new PoPShelf has opened. I feel it would be a good place to buy inexpensive gifts. It’s seems to be better quality than Dollar General items. The PoPShelf does carry brand name cleaning & food items. Plus the decor in the store is more updated & not so plain like the Dollar General stores.
I once purchased super comfortable and cute nightshirts. I hit a sale and they were $5.00. For snack-aholics they have every brand of everything that your doc tells you to avoid. Great impulse items while waiting in line.
Hey,! I have never posted a comment on any TH-cam channel but I thought your video on Dollar General was informative! We have 5, Yes, 5 in our town! So since this is March 1st, I headed out to look for bargains via your information. Found some BUT thought I would let you know for those peeps who are HOME EDIT ADICTS OUT there.... lots glass jars with lids super cheap! Also super cool modern pots for plants can be had for cheap but look awesome! Plus they have a new fabulous greeting card line that looks like top shelf OMG!
Love Dollar General... they have great seasonal decorations, around Xmas time they have nice little Xmas trees that you can put anywhere. They also have that lighted cheap green garland there around Xmas time. I was told by a decorator, that when they have a Xmas tree that’s looking a little sparse, they he’d to dollar general and buy the fake tree like lighted garland and fill in the holes in the Xmas tree. I have used this trick many times.

I am a huge DG fan. Some things to note: 1. The $5 off $25+ sometimes happens on a Friday instead of Saturday. Not all DGs print these out and once in a while, none print out at any store on a given day. 2. You do not need an app for the online coupons ("Digital Coupons"). I do mine from the DG website as I do not have a smart phone. The Digital Coupons are normally manufacturer coupons, so you can't combine them with the paper manufacturer ones. However, you can combine the $5/$25 one with manufacturer, BUT the purchase must be $25+ after the manufacturer coupon discount. Also, the Digital Coupons often offer large discounts. For example, recent there was a Digital Coupon for $2 off purchase of 2 Quaker products. I bought 2 boxes of Quaker Oats, $2 per box, which really meant I was getting 1 box free. 3. Once in a while DG will do 1/2 off clearance items. You can save huge here. 4. A clearance item may ring up a lower price at the register than what is on the item. Something to keep in mind when you are trying to get up to the $25 threshold. I've been burned by this a few times. 5. The DG sales ad that comes out in Sunday's newspaper is typically good across the US. Of course merchandise varies from store to store (even in the same area). 6. Some of the items in DG are slightly smaller, less quantity, and etc., to have a "lower" price. You may end up paying more per unit than a normal size at a competitor.
Years ago I saw a stainless steel cookware set at DG at a very good price. Glassware, serveware, wall art, as you pointed out, paper and stationery products also are good buys. I found cans of spray paint for 1-2.00 there that I found to be as good as name-brands, and also occasionally auto products at good prices, and in the clearance section, excellent buys, including some pet products. I have subscribed to 4 people that gives out the penny list. So find the best people that put out the penny list. If you think they're great then subscribe to them
Dollar General is my go to store for just about everything, even food items!! Down load the app & you will be able to 'clip' digital coupons that give you savings on a large number of products!! Every Saturday they offer a $5 off of a $25 purchase!! I pair this with digital coupons & most Saturdays my total out of pocket cost is $3 to $5 for numerous items!! Thanks for sharing the deals!! ☺

Great video! I will do anything to avoid Walmart which is what got me to Dollar general in the first place but have been blown away lately by the increased selection in all departments and prices... I burn a lot of candles especially and there's are great and seasonal decor...

I have recently gone to the family dollar store, they have greetings cards, all types, hallmark econo brand. For $1-$2. Which other pharmacy stores sell for $4-$7 and more.

Wish our DG was neater - always lots of stuff in the aisles to be put on shelves. I asked once why there wasn’t someone working on it and was told that they weren’t allowed to hire extra personnel to help with stocking. Geez!
I'm more incline to compare Dollar General to Family Dollar. A few years ago a Dollar General was built only for a Family Dollar to be built a bit closer 6 months or so later. It also requires going through one less street light. They were pretty similar, so I haven't been in the Dollar General for quite some time. I also don't have a Dollar Tree near me. If mine has the Sterilite brand, it may not be a bad reason to go in.
I have a DG around the corner of my house but I live in a low income area so it's not the greatest, lol! However, on my last trip there a week ago, I took a look at the (very unorganized) clearance rack and got some good stuff. Toothlaste for a dollar, so I grabbed two to equal about the size of a big tube, which would've been over $3. A mid-sized bottle of hand soap, which I have foam dispensers so I can stretch it out by adding water. Small boxes of fabric softener (and Gain brand, which I prefer), snatched two of those with 15 sheets each. And a large bottle of regular Dawn soap for about $2. Dollar General was also my savior during the toilet paper rushes in 2020. My low income area meant people with way more money weren't there buying it all because they weren'tcoming to my neck of the woods (my store's parking lot usually looks really rough and you'll be bothered by panhandlers nearly every time you go, so that might scare off a lot of people used to nicer areas. I hate it too, if being honest. However, my store blessedly put a limit of just one pack of TP per customer) and we, the actual members of the community, weren't able to afford just buying large quantities before the limit was put in place, so I was always able to find even my favorite brand Angel Soft there. And lastly, DG's food items is a great place to get some things cheaper than even Walmart. I don't grocery shop there on the regular but when I'm missing something for dinner, with the exception of produce, I run to DG to grab it.
I love Dollar General, and I will run in to Dollar General many more times a week than I do or would at Walmart. That being said the sizes at Dollar General are much smaller than the same item for the same price at Walmart especially name brand beauty and cleaning products

Actually selection can be pretty great. There are different types of DG's. Dollar general plus sales groceries...this is where I like to get my sons Fairlife lactose free milk & chocolate milk...(typically 3.5 or less) im a vendor & have about 8 DG's on my route. It's hard for me to stay focused when I'm going through the stores 😆
I love dollar general stores, I'm there almost every Saturday..the only trouble is that sometimes they have trouble with the digital coupons.....many stores only have one employee working in the store so asking for help is impossible...this also leads to dirty stores...but I still go for the prices!!!!¡

I have that ladder shelf. Gotta be careful with it. A couple of the screws were not long enough. And it’s not going to hold a lot of weight. Otherwise it’s cute and I like it. None of my DG stores have much to choose from with the plastic storage bins. But a lot of home decor. A lot of my home decor came from DG. I used to use coupons but it seems like their registers don’t seem to recognize coupons and it seems like the workers aren’t trained on how to key in a coupon. Just been my experience.

We have a Dollar General in my town. Lately they have been stepping up their game with a lot of new items. Plus I use my app. on my phone for the coupons. You can find alot of great deals at the Dollar General.

Family Dollar is owned by Dollar Tree. I'm guessing there are similarities between both.

We recently purchased a motorhome. I was thinking of buying things to decorate with at Amazon. Then I went to my local Dollar General. I found really nice kitchen items , towels, bedding, throws, pillows wall art. I saved major money buying at Dollar General. And still got great styled and quality items. I am a big fan of Dollar General. And definitely use the $5 off on Saturday coupon. I always say I’m getting something free when I shop on Saturday with a $5 off coupon. I love Dollar General! I find stuff other stores don't sell. It saves me time because I don't have walk through the super marker or Walmart. Also it is less walking on my bad knee. Such a good selection and such good prices. It's so convenient!

Bedding? Check out Tuesday Morning! They have decent to good quality and carry some of the slightly odd sizing sheet sets. So if you’re looking for a California King size bed, a camper queen size bed... odds are they will have it! And often these are top quality name brands from big brand stores that Tuesday Morning bought their last years inventory at a bargain price. I had a friend and she had a weird shaped round queen bed that she loved to hate, couldn’t find sheets for it. Tuesday Morning had them, they were ugly AF but they had them! LOL!

I've been getting my cleaning and laundry products at DG for a few years now. Decent sale prices, digital coupons, and $5 off $25 coupon on Saturdays makes for some good deals there. Can also found cute socks and t-shirts for cheap, don't last forever but by the time they wear out you're ready for something different anyway.

Report them to corporate headquarters because their manager isn't doing their job. I used to work there and only quit because I had my foot operated on and it was taking to long to heal.
I went into a relatively new one (open about 6 months) in a rural area near me and it was scary. The building felt like a garage inside, very dark, boxes of inventory piled up everywhere, aisles barely wide enough for a cart, and like a maze to get in and out.
The ones near me seem to have trouble stocking shelves because they don't hire enough employees.
The one in my area is pretty well stocked but is always a mess.
Ours are nasty too. They are less scary than Dollar Tree (the manager was screaming at employees while I hunkered down at the back of the store in case I needed to run outside for safety). Dollar Tree, Dollar General, Family Dollar are all super sketchy, poorly managed, and prices not all that great compared to Five Below and Walmart in my area. I was really surprised that Matt made this video.
Hi Matt! To be very honest w you, our Dollar General is always rather junky. But, I have found good deals on kitty kibble and wet food, litter as well. Also, for my hair salon, I have bought darling, printed boxes with a magnet closure for storage. They are great for rollers, perm rods, etc. all the stuff u want to hide in something cute! But I will go check out their rugs!! Never thought of that, ty!!

Thanks for this video- Not all Dollar Generals are created equal! In the county I live in we have 3 DG stores. One in the 'farm neighborhood`, one in the 'upscale town and one by the 'low income housing' in the county seat- Guess which one gets all the leftovers from other stores and generally has a very limited inventory. I would love for you to do a comparison video of different DGs in different demographic areas. Love your tips 🌻
They recently revamped our Dollar General, and it's really awesome. It went from being Wal-Mart's bratty, little sister to Target's cool cousin! :D I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw fresh produce and really good hair product brands. They even have Seventh Generation dish soap. We live about 20 minutes from town, so it's really nice to have a place this good nearby.
I like their one dollar shelves I find name brands of all kinds of items. I like getting big bottles of hand soap, just be sure to check the liquids they might've been opened. They are having up to 90% off seasonal items including clothing right now. Also I hear they'll have remodeling sales too. Thanks Matt☺
Toilet paper!! I buy the DG brand toilet paper...just as good as name brand and $10 for a large package! And I go on Saturday's to take advantage of $5 coupon!
After Christmas I bought tons of items for .25 - including Oreos! The next week Christmas items were .10 but actually rang up for .05! I bought bags full! Really awesome!

A lot of the DGs are also remodeling (or have remodeled recently) and now include actual food, not just microwave meals and snacks. Unless it's a specific brand (like Clear'n'Natural carbonated water) or a specific product I need, I RARELY set foot in my actual grocery store now. Just... avoid the produce at DG; it's GROSSLY overpriced. $3 for a SMALL head of lettuce or 4 bananas for $1?!? That's quite high!!!
I go to DG all the time. One by me doesn't have produce, but I do get some frozen food there. A box of frozen hamburger patties with 16 in them cost about $7.00 at DG, but that same exact brand at grocery store is $10. I also the DG brand of flavored sparkling water. It is 75 cents for a liter and tastes great. So I stock up on that stuff every week. Always get my cleaning supplies there.
Love the savings. My complaint is they don’t hire enough people to keep aisles organized. Same in every DG I’ve gone to.
In my area a new PoPShelf has opened. I feel it would be a good place to buy inexpensive gifts. It’s seems to be better quality than Dollar General items. The PoPShelf does carry brand name cleaning & food items. Plus the decor in the store is more updated & not so plain like the Dollar General stores.
Target sheets are great too. They have a label in the sheets tells you bottom and top don’t have to trist and turn to find them
I once purchased super comfortable and cute nightshirts. I hit a sale and they were $5.00. For snack-aholics they have every brand of everything that your doc tells you to avoid.

Hey,! I have never posted a comment on any TH-cam channel but I thought your video on Dollar General was informative! We have 5, Yes, 5 in our town! So since this is March 1st, I headed out to look for bargains via your information. Found some BUT thought I would let you know for those peeps who are HOME EDIT ADICTS OUT there.... lots glass jars with lids super cheap! Also super cool modern pots for plants can be had for cheap but look awesome! Plus they have a new fabulous greeting card line that looks like top shelf OMG!
I use the Dollar General digital coupons and stack them with sales for my laundry supplies. Works out so cheap for name brand items.
Love Dollar General... they have great seasonal decorations, around Xmas time they have nice little Xmas trees that you can put anywhere.
They also have that lighted cheap green garland there around Xmas time. I was told by a decorator, that when they have a Xmas tree that’s looking a little sparse, they he’d to dollar general and buy the fake tree like lighted garland and fill in the holes in the Xmas tree. I have used this trick many times.

I am a huge DG fan. Some things to note:
1. The $5 off $25+ sometimes happens on a Friday instead of Saturday. Not all DGs print these out and once in a while, none print out at any store on a given day.
2. You do not need an app for the online coupons ("Digital Coupons"). I do mine from the DG website as I do not have a smart phone. The Digital Coupons are normally manufacturer coupons, so you can't combine them with the paper manufacturer ones. However, you can combine the $5/$25 one with manufacturer, BUT the purchase must be $25+ after the manufacturer coupon discount.
Also, the Digital Coupons often offer large discounts. For example, recent there was a Digital Coupon for $2 off purchase of 2 Quaker products. I bought 2 boxes of Quaker Oats, $2 per box, which really meant I was getting 1 box free.
3. Once in a while DG will do 1/2 off clearance items. You can save huge here.
4. A clearance item may ring up a lower price at the register than what is on the item. Something to keep in mind when you are trying to get up to the $25 threshold. I've been burned by this a few times.
5. The DG sales ad that comes out in Sunday's newspaper is typically good across the US. Of course merchandise varies from store to store (even in the same area).
6. Some of the items in DG are slightly smaller, less quantity, and etc., to have a "lower" price. You may end up paying more per unit than a normal size at a competitor.
Years ago I saw a stainless steel cookware set at DG at a very good price. Glassware, serveware, wall art, as you pointed out, paper and stationery products also are good buys. I found cans of spray paint for 1-2.00 there that I found to be as good as name-brands, and also occasionally auto products at good prices, and in the clearance section, excellent buys, including some pet products. Dollar General is my go to store for just about everything, even food items!! Down load the app & you will be able to 'clip' digital coupons that give you savings on a large number of products!! Every Saturday they offer a $5 off of a $25 purchase!!

If you read some of the labels you can find some of their items are made at the same place the name brands are made on the cleaning supplies.

Wish our DG was neater - always lots of stuff in the aisles to be put on shelves. I asked once why there wasn’t someone working on it and was told that they weren’t allowed to hire extra personnel to help with stocking. Geez!
I'm more incline to compare Dollar General to Family Dollar. A few years ago a Dollar General was built only for a Family Dollar to be built a bit closer 6 months or so later. It also requires going through one less street light. They were pretty similar, so I haven't been in the Dollar General for quite some time. I also don't have a Dollar Tree near me. If mine has the Sterilite brand, it may not be a bad reason to go in.
I have a DG around the corner of my house but I live in a low income area so it's not the greatest, lol! However, on my last trip there a week ago, I took a look at the (very unorganized) clearance rack and got some good stuff. Toothlaste for a dollar, so I grabbed two to equal about the size of a big tube, which would've been over $3. A mid-sized bottle of hand soap, which I have foam dispensers so I can stretch it out by adding water. Small boxes of fabric softener (and Gain brand, which I prefer), snatched two of those with 15 sheets each. And a large bottle of regular Dawn soap for about $2.
Dollar General was also my savior during the toilet paper rushes in 2020. My low income area meant people with way more money weren't there buying it all because they weren'tcoming to my neck of the woods (my store's parking lot usually looks really rough and you'll be bothered by panhandlers nearly every time you go, so that might scare off a lot of people used to nicer areas. I hate it too, if being honest. However, my store blessedly put a limit of just one pack of TP per customer) and we, the actual members of the community, weren't able to afford just buying large quantities before the limit was put in place, so I was always able to find even my favorite brand Angel Soft there.
And lastly, DG's food items is a great place to get some things cheaper than even Walmart. I don't grocery shop there on the regular but when I'm missing something for dinner, with the exception of produce, I run to DG to grab it.

I love Dollar General, and I will run in to Dollar General many more times a week than I do or would at Walmart. That being said the sizes at Dollar General are much smaller than the same item for the same price at Walmart especially name brand beauty and cleaning products

Actually selection can be pretty great. There are different types of DG's. Dollar general plus sales groceries...this is where I like to get my sons Fairlife lactose free milk & chocolate milk...(typically 3.5 or less) im a vendor & have about 8 DG's on my route. It's hard for me to stay focused when I'm going through the stores 😆

I love dollar general stores, I'm there almost every Saturday..the only trouble is that sometimes they have trouble with the digital coupons.....many stores only have one employee working in the store so asking for help is impossible...this also leads to dirty stores...but I still go for the prices!!!!¡

I have that ladder shelf. Gotta be careful with it. A couple of the screws were not long enough. And it’s not going to hold a lot of weight. Otherwise it’s cute and I like it. None of my DG stores have much to choose from with the plastic storage bins. But a lot of home decor. A lot of my home decor came from DG. I used to use coupons but it seems like their registers don’t seem to recognize coupons and it seems like the workers aren’t trained on how to key in a coupon. Just been my experience.
