It's definitely not for everyone, but I asked for and was given two of the very large potato display boxes. I watch 10 grandchildren 6 days a week, so the boxes were perfect, stacked and well duct taped, to build them a little play house. We had a whole week of projects, painting it, making doors and windows, and the kids all had a great time.

The quality of fruits was great. I love the fact that they allow their cashiers to sit while serving customers. That shows their caring about their employees.

I don't buy the Aldi bags or bag/box my groceries in the Aldi store. I have Rubbermaid tubs in the back of my van. I just unload the groceries directly from the cart into my tubs. Then I take the loaded tubs inside the house to unload. I put the tubs back in the van right away so I don't forget them for next time. I can't take credit for this idea. I saw a lady doing this in the Aldi parking lot one day and determined that I must do it this way as well.

What a great idea! I'm sure they fit nice in your trunk but I have used plastic laundry baskets because I found them to be easier to carry! I have used them for regular groceries, just placed the bags into the baskets to make it easier to carry as I'm older, have a long sidewalk from my driveway to my door & would like to make the least number of trips back & forth!

I only buy the thin green bags when I need a “meat and poultry bag”, so I splurge and spend a dime. When I use them, especially for poultry, I spray the inside with Clorox and water solution and let it dry in my trunk then fold it and stuff it in the boxes. Iuse it until it needs to be replaced and I buy another! But I do splurge on the ALDIS FOLDING BOXES!! They are the best! Durable and hold a lot! I have been buying a couple every time they put out a new decor on the boxes. I like these much better that the squashable bags with the metal handles! They don’t fold as well, still bunch up and don’t stack. I use the boxes for all groceries, and when I’m done unload and putting away groceries, I fold all but one box and stack them inside the unfolded one! , so I have 5 or 6 boxes ready to go in my trunk next time in the space of one. and I can even “squash” the freezer bags from Aldis and I can stick a couple of y. those in With the folded boxes! And they work great for trios to, to corral small stuff and go between the grands in the back set for all their lose stuff! So many uses for these boxes! The Aldis ones are stronger that the Walmart ones, and I believe the military exchanges have good ones too.

As an Aldi employee, I can't stress enough to PLEASE refrain from using anything other than a genuine quarter to access a shopping cart. We've had so many people use keys, quarter duds, etc and they've caused our carts to get jammed. We end up having to pry out said item with pliers. Not only that but please keep in mind your groceries are being loaded into a different cart at check out than the one you came in with. So you'll be leaving your fake quarter with the next person in line OR you'll be holding up the line trying to get it back. Trust me, it is far less of a headache for everybody if you just keep a quarter handy. Whether it's in a car cupholder/coinholder or a quarter keeper keychain. If you don't have one ask to borrow a quarter from a cashier. They will be more than happy to lend you one. Just please use a REAL quarter. Your local Aldi employees will greatly thank you for it!😊

  • @loving_lioness3518

Hi guys Aldi manager here as well. I'd say PLEASE don't do #5 getting a plastic quarter or using a quarter attached to your keys...Ill explain why. Aldi's quarter cart system is set up to keep loose carts out of the parking lot but ALSO as part of the system that keeps our lines fast. As you are still unloading, we are already scanning and putting your items into a new cart. (Quarter already in the new cart) Then we take your empty cart and keep it movin. When you come with a cart attached to your specific key ring etc, we can't start scanning until you're 100% unloaded and give us that cart to put your items back into. It slows the line tremendously and it rude to others to make them wait extra. Thank you!

I was thinking the same thing. Also, I frequently will just exchange my quarter for someone else’s cart in the parking lot. Saves them a few steps. Also, if I can’t find a quarter I probably couldn’t find my “fake quarter” either.

FYI: a lot of the laundry detergents are name brand just bottled in generic bottles. And I worked at a paper company toilet paper, paper towels napkins were all made there they just changed the press print and plastic wrappers. We made for Walmart, target, Aldi, Meijer, Kroger, Jewel, Piggly Wiggly, Save a lot, Food for less, and a bunch more I don’t remember. The generic detergent is the middle batch of soaps during a change over so the machines don’t stop. So when they are going from tide with Downey recipes to tide with bleach recipe, they put up generic bottles for change over then sell them to dollar stores or supermarkets as generic brands.

  • @colleenrichards2630

I’m an assistant store manager at Aldi! With the twice and nice return policy we only do the twice as nice if the customer mentions it and there has to be more then half of the product left, it can’t be an empty box. I have to disagree with our toilet paper products. They are actually pretty good. But as far as name brand products it costs more money to bring the product into store so it’s priced a little high since we don’t always carry that product. Now with the whole quarter situation, cashiers and myself included will sometime start an order in another cart we have near us at the register while the customer finishes unloading there’s. So they don’t always get “their quarter” back. I find it to be annoying when the customer tells me they have a “special quarter” in there. I bit my tongue all the time and refrain from telling them to just not use it then. So having a device isn’t always the better option here. Just ask the cashier for a quarter if you don’t have one. The ads online are the exact same ads in store. Prices vary by location because of what other stores are around that specific Aldi. Aldi cashiers have to meet a certain ring speed number or items per min each day. The faster they are the less time your in line and also makes the second cashier available to do something else instead of sitting on register. As far as mark downs go we really on mark down special buy items to clear product off the shelf and make room for something else. We can’t just mark down a regular item we always carry daily. If you find something an Aldi find item slightly damaged but still want to buy it we can give a certain dollar amount off as well. But only sb products. PLEASE TAKE BOXES!! I joke around that it’s one less box I have to crush later. Wednesdays are actually when prices change and yes items go on mark down. They are also one of the busiest days so come right when we open at 9am. A lot of are products do come straight from Germany shipped to the USA. Hope all of this new info helps

I agree with the toilet tissue. Best game in town where I live. Also, recently and I know this is an old video but I got generic Flonase at my local Aldi, manufactured in Canada and Canada's products are the best for 6 bucks. I think one of your competitor's sells the generic for 11 bucks same size etc. Canada OTC medicine is the best, better than the US. Questionable where some of our products are made and I will not buy it unless it says place of manufacture not distributed by so read the labels. I refuse to take any drugs from certain countries as some are dirty to say the least. I have looked up their pharma plants and they are filthy. People not wearing shoes, leaks on the floor. Yes, I search these things out on the computer and dig enough you will find this out as well. We are a huge pharma employed family (Merck) I know their cleanliness is the best. Clean rooms, etc. I imagine some of these countries lack clean rooms during manufacturing process. Yuck. Start reading everything on labels.
When will Aldi start bringing low sodium products ie. spaghetti sauce, tuna fish, chicken broth, no sodium will work as well. Us boomers are aging fast and sodium is no longer acceptable. As a result, I have to shop multiple stores & I despise going elsewhere to shop. One stop shopping, I can't be the only one who can't have sodium for sure.

Former ALDI manager here. Thoughts on the tips:
1: Spices don't have a ton of variety, but we have more spices during holiday seasons that you would use, so most of the time it's sufficient for my kitchen. They're super inexpensive!
2: The "Twice is Nice" guarantee is used with a mind-blowingly infrequency. I've only seen a couple people each month come back through the store to use it (even if they're in the store often). Seriously, you can use it even without your receipt if you bring the item back. It's awesome.
3: There are TONS of ALDI employees being super open and honest about their favorite products on social media and in-store. Don't be afraid to ask!
    4. Yeah, TP is pretty meh. Worth paying a dollar to not waste gas going to Walmart though
5: DO NOT use personal cart quarters! If you do that, you hold up the line because we can't switch out your cart when you check out. Makes everyone cross.
    6. Online specials aren't super helpful for me... Often in our store, our store manager would mark things down in our local store that you wouldn't know about unless you were physically there.
7: Same concept as number 6! You can ask about anything being marked down. Generally, we won't mark something down unless we have WAY too much of it in the back (which you can usually tell because the shelf is super full) or if it's going to go out of date soon. Pay close attention to meat and dairy dates for extra savings.
    8. PLEASE take our boxes! Thanks. We love you!
    9. ALDI stores either put out our huge markdowns and specials on Sunday or Wednesday depending on location. The markdowns happen before opening on Wednesday because that's the same time we put out ALDI finds. Wednesday mornings are busier, but you get the most opportunities.
    10. Not a huge fan of German sausage personally, but our chips and cookies are pretty good for the price. It honestly depends on the region, and your specific location and store manager, but they're usually around most of the time during the day. Make a new friend and you'll find plenty of sweet deals, no lie!

Aldi employee here, you can typically also haggle a bit with Aldi Find items. Especially if its sat on the shelves for a while, we need that space so a lot of times you can get quite a bit taken off for really nice items. Had a guy save $40 on two sets of shelving that we had on the shelf for over a month. We had like 30 of them and they werent selling. They were really nice but they were $50. The dude literally just said to my manager "any chance you could knock a few bucks off that? $50 seems really high for some shelves" and my manager goes "actually yeah, and I really need to get rid of these things so I'll tell you what, I'll go $20 off each one you buy." Boom. My mind was blown, I'd managed a retail store before, I would NEVER have been allowed to do that. But Aldi is so much different and better than any other place I've worked.
Also the thing about the milk prices, idk if this is the case with Aldi outside of the US, but my store manager explained to me that we base our prices to be slightly lower than whatever Walmart has theirs set at, to stay competitive.

I quit going years ago when they wouldn’t take credit cards, made me rent a cart, had no grocery bags, and no or few major brands. I was told a lot had changed so I have been going back.

My first experience with Aldi was is 1993 when my husband was stationed at Fort Leavenworth Kansas. The city of Leavenworth had a Aldi way back then and of course a much smaller product line but still what they had even then was quality and inexpensive. It took another 10 years before I saw another Aldi in what became our home city where we retired after my husbands Army carrier. That only happened in the last 10 years, 15 years tops. Aldi used to be a poor person's grocery store, as everything was lower quality. I grew up on the lowest quality that they offered as a 5 year old kid in 1979. So stuff with high fructose corn syrup was big in their products from the time it was being used in the 80's, up until the 2000's. My mom mainly went to Aldi, when money was tight, and tried to get most of the groceries from there. Half the time, I had to settle for their cereal, because it was cheaper, and not all of it was great in the 80's. Their versions of Rice Crispies, and Chex were the only edible cereals to me, and maybe their version of Wheaties and frosted flakes. Even today, I still don't trust their fresh meat, as it still doesn't taste good in my opinion. I'll stick with Food 4 Less, owned by Kroger, and local chain Strack and Van Til, and Meijer.

The best tip I know is that if you see a new product there that you like, buy lots of them immediately because they often disappear. We had an Aldi built in our area a couple yrs. ago and I love it. The things I love as far as products are the fact you can buy fresh flowers for generally under $5 is great!! Also, their selection of breads is fantastic. We could never afford organic produce if it wasn't for Aldi. Their raspberry vinaigrette dressing is delicious and their veggie burgers are better than the name brands, in my opinion. They also have fantastic deals on home and office products. I use an organizer/calendar and the name brand is an easy $30 but last week Aldi had a dupe of almost identical for under $10!! I have gotten it the last 2 yrs. and the layout is very similar. Wish more stores adopted the same concepts that this store uses but then again, it wouldn't make this store unique!!

They are able to scan faster than other stores because they have designed their packaging with UPC codes on multiple sides.
They never have to flip the package around more than once to find the barcode.
Seems like an insignificant benefit, but watch cashiers at other stores. Sometimes they have to turn a package around several times to find the code.

I once went to Aldi and picked up some of their mini cucumbers. I got them home to find that they were yellow inside and not good. Late that day I was at a different Aldi (I live near 3 of them) and picked up another pack of cucumbers. I mentioned to the cashier what had happened with the other package, and she handed me money for the bad package and sent me on my way with the new one, free of charge and no questions asked. I didn’t have the first package to return, even. I didn’t know they had that guarantee until then.

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this BUT...
Aldi owns Trader Joe's. Now, Trader Joe's was founded in the US (California) and Aldi's in Germany. Both stores offer foods from all over the globe. So the food offerings at Aldi's are held to Europe's version of our FDA (Food and Drug administration). Where Trader Joe's may be a little more relaxed. Many foods that are allowed here in the US are banned in Europe and Canada and for very good reasons! Aldi's often follows the standards set by Europe where food choices are concerned. I feel a little safer buying and eating the food choices from Aldi's.

I've shopped at Aldi for over 25 years. My parents were born and raised in The Netherlands so we knew all about Aldi and when Aldi came to Charlotte, NC we were beyond delighted. Sadly I had to move away to a small town 2.5 hours away but every time I went to visit my parents I loaded my minivan full of Aldi products. Lucky for me Aldi has since opened in my small town about 14 or so years ago and I purchase 99% of my groceries at Aldi. Furthermore I use The Dollar Tree for some items too. The staff and manager, Ashley @Aldi in Aiken, SC are phenomenal. They are so kind, friendly and worker bees like I've never seen at a grocery store. Thanks for your video ~~ really enjoyed it. PS you're correct about their toilet paper being pricey but their ziploc bags prices are phenomenal and so is their tinfoil plus it's heavy duty too💙💜

Matt, love your information videos. But what I really like is when you take us shopping with you in Aldi's.
You point out the German chocolates, sausages, alone with other meats and cheeses. Thank you.

Aldi’s home decor/items are my weakness!!! I’ve decorated my whole house with everything ALDI!! There sheet sets are some of the softest I’ve ever owned.

Just starting shopping at Aldi last year before the Rona got here. We stocked up slowly and I couldn't believe how much was noticed the savings from our local chain stores. Thanks for the advice! Really liking this channel!

Here in the U.K., Aldi is fabulous too. That Moser Roth chocolate! Their vegan range is pretty good. Aldi and Lidl have saved us so much money, and the quality is fantastic.

Aldi is the best place for ranch and italian dressing. I absolutely love them and it doesn't include msg.

Their assorted cheesecake is the best i have ever had! I like it more than cheesecake factory. I live their pork rinds, cheeses and home decor. Their candles are sooo good too! Long lasting scents.
