Never was really a Korg person. Was turned off after the M50 was discontinued. This keyboard sounds pretty good. My hats to the player. He’s great! (Maybe that’s why I like the keyboard.🤨🎶👍🏾)
M50 has the better interface, sadly. They gimped the Nautilus in favor of more clunky menu diving for some of the simplest, most basic fuctions. I hate using it, otherwise, I love the sounds and overall sound quality. Not buying, ya dun goofed again, Korg.
Have just bought one of these, having been a dedicated Yamaha player. First impressions, very powerful instrument, good keybed. Piano, strings, organs, synths etc, incredible sounds, very adjustable. Woodwinds not so good but I've got those covered with my Genos. Overall, delighted with it.
I also got one of these. I find it the best rompler I have had since Kurzweil k2661, I am having a lot of fun out of it. I have owned Yamaha Motif ES, Roland Fantom X, Korg Triton LE, Korg TR, Korg N364, Roland Juno G and Nord Stage 3 (I will exclude the VA and analog synths of this list). The best of that list to me are Kurzweil k2661, Korg Nautilus, and Nord Stage 3.
Live stage play really comes down to the demands of what and how, than it does the board being good enough. Mainly because very few of us use a single board option in those scenarios. For one its good to have a backup board anyway and on the other, the vast range of sounds required makes it far safer to just move between tiers than mess with one device. So in other words you'll have numerous bases covered on different devices. One of which could easily be a nautilus. Likely the only reason people might avoid it in that setting is the lack of real time controls over something like the Fantom-0. Which of course most people are aware has sliders, pads and numerous other onboard hardware. Comparatively the Korg is limited to its touch screen. Which might not be ideal on the stage for a good few people. If you're like me and pre-prepare everything - which applies just as much to boards like the modx as the Nautilus - then it might not affect you either way. People are using a lot of master boards as hubs these days. Integrated with DAWs and a host of other devices. Things like the Fantom have really been designed with that in mind, rather than a do-everything board. If people want to have a nautilus with the hands-on controls, it can be worth seeking out a second hand Kronos 2 which has those additions of course. But it comes at quite the cost of late with so few on the second hand market. Might not be worth it to everyone.
Korg acousting samples are top notch, nothing but praise. However their synthesized sounds are stuck in the 90s. Also the guy playing deserves a Grammy.
My God, that Movie Scenes sound is incredible. Don't get me wrong, I love my Yamaha Portable Grand DGX-650, but this thing is not just on a different level but in a different galaxy.
They are of course very different devices. If you own a Yamaha CP88 then it is a dedicated digital Piano. One with a top of the line acoustic-sim action. To be clear, this is a key action that is suitable for advanced classical repertoire and whilst lacking in some small areas (compared to a much heavier device) it's considered one of the best in class here. Compared to Korg - they come nowhere close to what the Yamaha offers you in Piano recreation. Thats the point. The Korg Nautilus on the other hand is a slighly cheaper and modified release of the prior Korg flagship 'Kronos 2'. Which needs no introduction. It is a full music workstation. 9 engines designed to give you everything you need in a single box to approach different genres and uses. It has MANY things that the CP88 does not. That all said the CP88 and Nautilus are NOT in the same range of instrument. You CANNOT grade in classical music on the Nautilus. Even with the x8 88 key. It simply lacks the keybed. Which is where Yamaha invested. As a stage PIANO. That is it's 'extreme' focus. Everything it is was focused on that. So if you do NOT need a top of the line PIANO action; and instead would like a multi-purpose SYNTH keyboard - then yes Nautilus would serve you well. Inline with Modx and Fantom-0. Although I have my bias I would say each have their pro's and cons. Nautilus - no hands on control and some people 'hate' menu diving on touch screens (they'd prefer laptops and software). The Modx has amazing sounds - but its build suffers somewhat and it's very deep for some people (too much). The Fantom-0 has great hands on controls and interaction with DAW. It's main appeal is as a central hub. Much like the larger version. That said what they gain in controls, they lose somewhat in the versatile engines, memory, sequencing and build (assuming cheaper version). So it really is up to you. Like choosing between Pepsi, Cola or Pepper. You decide which suits you best!
@ErraticFaith if you are looking strictly for key bed action I would not recommend the cp88. The key bed action is far from an acoustic piano. I own it. I also ownt the studiologic numa x piano gt. That one beats the cp88 out of the water. Feels very close to steinway piano. I highly recommend it If you are looking for best key action.
I use one every day. It’s not an action for everyone but it is vastly superior to the KORGs which is why it can be used right up to mid-tier formal grading. I doubt most people playing nautilus practice classical composition to that standard however. It’s only really bested by the Kawai grand feel in terms of performance for high speed pieces. Something like the KORG Rh3 is too slow. That’s why it’s barred from formal examination. Much after that you need a proper acoustic piano.
Korg is versatile bt the player is amazing...i bet he is a producer...very open minded...thank You Sir for sharing your talent with the World thru Korg ...
I have a KORG T3 and it 's only problem in 25 years was the replacement of the floppy disk drive, Yes that was the way of storing sequences then. I put it away for the most part after I bought a Motif 6 which also still works today. But even back then the Korg atmospheric sounds , pads, saxes and strings were amazing. I'm going to be moving soon into a house with a big/family/music room so I think I will get the Nautilus.
Hi.. Just bought an 88 key version for my live rig and my studio main keyboard.. I am going to search for the sounds you used cause they are amazing... Thank you so much for creating this video..........
At first I thought this was a Kronos replacement but after watching another video I realize this more of a mid class offering and not the 'high end' Kronos replacement. When that board comes out I would have to think it won't be an easy board to suplant. Perhaps it will have less load up time, a better piano sound, have an easier menu to edit along with more intuitive sampling, be a little lighter in weight and of course, update some of the accompmaniments to reflect the times. Otherwise, the Kronos has set the standard and that standard is high.
First of all, thank you, Korg, for keeping it up. Though I have a question: Why are there so few videos on how Nautilus engines (fm, string, organ...) work and how they sound in the process of using/ modeling?
@@lucimine would you mind sharing if you had any inspiration the Japanese upright section at 8:00 was based on? Absolutely loved it and want to learn it - really emphasized the emotion the sample provided!
Despite the fact that I enjoyed the demo and many sounds I think Korg made a mistake when removed many knobs/sliders on the left. They were very useful when someone played an organs or wanted to change the sound `right away on the stage`. I don't think this new Nautilus is a step forward, I think it is equal to Kronos and some some points Kronos is even better. I was waiting 10 years to see some fabulous instrument but here I see just a good `new old Kronos`. The performer did his best to present all the best sides of this instrument. Well done! In any way - Korg does not have serious competitors as other brands are much much worse IMHO (if you compare technical side, quality of sounds and possibilities).
@@Culture_of_Ghosts Maybe this is an option BUT when you play on a stage and need quickly change some slider so it may be not so convenient when this additional gadget is laying on a keyboard as it is not firmly connected to it and may fall down. Don't you think so?
Great musicianship! I just love that first voice "Movie scenes A120" (0:14 - 1:07), although I am confused by the title "Unique" as I wonder if this voice is a "Preset" in Program or Combination Mode from the factory, or a voice from a separate/alternate sound bank. A beautiful sounding instrument. I just ordered a Nautilus last week and cannot wait until it arrives.
Finally, a brand new version of the 90s workstations that I can use to play milquetoast versions of songs no one remembers in my shopping mall food court solo act.
Why was the interface watered down? It needs more buttons that reduce menu-diving, not less, bring more controls to the user's fingertips instead of burying them in menus. Awesome-sounding keyboard with poor user friendliness for the asking price. Real bummer. edit: sluggish interface, especially the sequencer, c'mon!
Good demonstration, although I would also like to hear orchestral sounds / combinations, you know: violins, cellos, French horn, woodwind, chamber ochestra, symphony. I have a Kross 2, and I'm thinking of swapping it out for the Nautilus, but I need to know if there are real enough orchestral sounds within the factory library to motivate me to go for it. Regards. Congratulations for this amazing demo! 👌❤️Very nice playing and demonstration! Unfortunately Korg made /copied the same mistake that made Yamaha 3 years ago with the MODX! NO PHYSICAL BUTTONS TO REACH QUICKLY THE SOUNDS AND REGISTRATIONS, ONLY THE TOUCH SCREEN...
@@sojimani7616 Yes, on the touch screen, but physical buttons only four (Scene 1-4 and 4-8) to change quickly the sounds and the rotating knob. Do you think it is enough? I saw many Korg keyboard like Korg Triton or Triton extreme or m3 or m50 because it has feature like register numeric buttons with hold button feature it is to change any tone within in second please add that feature on latest keyboard on your Korg Nautilus or Kronos 1 or Kronos 2 or any new Korg keyboard because I am having Korg Triton keyboard it is easy to register any tone on numeric buttons with hold feature and it easier than touch please add that feature
Sounds breathtaking. Still have some doubt between the Yamaha Mode due to its technical plus side, but I hate diving to deep into it. Sometimes people just want to play instead of knob turning the hell out of their fingers. In what sense does Korg offer a more playable feeling over the MODX ?
When I read the specs it looks as though the Korg Nautilus will actually work with USB MIDI controllers like the Novation Launchpad X, the Korg microKEY, and the Roli Lightpad Block. Can anybody confirm that this is so? Usually USB MIDI controllers are just for use with a DAW.

jajaja, claro que no, ni de chiste, el Kross2 es "workstation", creo que buscas el Korg PA4x y los similares, esos son los tipo "arranger" como el asombroso SX700
Yes, it has a few analog synth simulations with typical saw, sine, square waves, but keep in mind, this is PCM workstation with a few modelling algorithms. In short, you can do that, but don't expect pulling out Virus sounds out of it. If you want true synth experience you need to buy true analog or digital synth, in fact, a few of them to have a few different options on your fingertips. Also, it depends on what you are calling "new". There are many sound designers who works with various synths and any musical sound likely already is programmed by pros. Many musicians buys synths simply to get "that sound" of specific synth instead of making new sounds by their own.
If you want an all around workstation nothing really beats Korg. They could well be the last of their kind as well, in light of he shifting world/market.
Still not sure whether to buy of not. would replace a Wave 2, which is a nice Synth, although i prefer playing „out of the box. So i most need ready and good playable sounds for cover, Latin an so on....
Everyone's talking about the synth and not the musician. Hats off to whoever learned and played all that!
Thank you very much! Appreciate the feedback!

Phenomenal player..I'll never have the skill to extract the best out of such an instrument, but I do like inspirational sounds as they drive us to greater things..this one is deformed the the pro's.best drum tracks I've heard on a keyboard, along with a clarity of sound that takes things to a whole new level..well done Korg, and fantastic playing.whoever you are!!
Definitely not deformed!! 88 note keys ain't the only things I struggle with🙈🙈
Thank you Stevie! I appreciate the kind words.
@@lucimine Thomann, the biggest shop for music instruments in Europe, has just stopped selling the Kronos. I am pretty sure that we will see a new flagship workstation from Krog by the end of next year at the latest. Am I right?? No answer means yes😁
Great sounds, but does it have weighted keys that are velocity sensitive?
Hi Larry, yes the version in the video has a weighted keyboard (full size 88 keys) that is velocity sensitive. There are also 2 smaller size which have synth action keys.
Luciano Minetti Has it aftertouch as well?
@@HubertEtAlice Hello! It does not have aftertouch.
@@lucimine do you know if the nautilus 73 have similar keybed to pa4x?
I would love to know if the Kross 2 - Korg is also arrenger or arranger like the Yamaha PSR SX700, please tell me from your experience if so, please.
I think 🤔 MODX has the ‘Live set’ button. Did you mean that ?
@@sojimani7616 Yes, on the touch screen, but physical buttons only four (Scene 1-4 and 4-8) to change quickly the sounds and the rotating knob. Do you think it is enough? If you want to play at home or in the studio it is ok.
How about live playing in a band or in a concert and you have to change a lot of sounds and registrations quickly and precise?
@@szekerespista3758 Yes you are right, it is risk. We have to use a pedal switch or any other midi controllers.
@@sojimani7616Voila! 👌This is the reason for I have made the comment regarding the missing buttons for sounds & performances...
MODX has 4 scene buttons but NAUTILUS hasn’t got any! 🤔
HUGE MISTAKE from KORG !
best filmscore ive heard on a synth
@Luciano Minetti very impressive demo, man.. btw can you tell me what watch are you using in the video :)
Вот офигенный звук!
Try "KORG NAUTILUS - All playing, no talking (by Pavel "Dvorkys" Dvořák)" video, a different take, I like it a lot :)
👍👍 nice, i liked it.
Is it sound bank is same in both 88keys and 61keys or they are different?
I saw many Korg keyboard like Korg Triton or Triton extreme or m3 or m50 because it has feature like register numeric buttons with hold button feature it is to change any tone within in second please add that feature on latest keyboard on your Korg Nautilus or Kronos 1 or Kronos 2 or any new Korg keyboard because I am having Korg Triton keyboard it is easy to register any tone on numeric buttons with hold feature and it easier than touch please add that feature
That piano with soft pad background sounded good, but most presets you played, not so great.
@Atlsynth I hear ya.
Wow this guy is incredible!
Excellent playing!!!! Bravo
Thank you! Grazie!
I'd rather have a Kronos 3 with a better UI and today's flexibility and features. And bring back the Oasys big screen. Cheers
That would only come out at about 7-8 grand!
AMAZING!!!
How can you switch USB loopback off on the Nautilus???
Sounds breathtaking. Still have some doubt between the Yamaha Mode due to its technical plus side, but I hate diving to deep into it. Sometimes people just want to play instead of knob turning the hell out of their fingers. In what sense does Korg offer a more playable feeling over the MODX ?
korg는 역시 어쿠스틱악기소리보다 전자악기소라가 월등히 좋다!!!
My favo(u)rite piano from that synth is the Italian Grand
well played,i wish i could play like this guy _> seems in all that years not really new synth stuff??
When I read the specs it looks as though the Korg Nautilus will actually work with USB MIDI controllers like the Novation Launchpad X, the Korg microKEY, and the Roli Lightpad Block. Can anybody confirm that this is so?
Usually USB MIDI controllers are just for use with a DAW.
Korg = The Best!!!! I Have two Korg; PA 80 & PA 1000.... PA 80 the Old Best, Sound, Style...... PA 1000 to Create Sounds...... I Create More, More More New Sounds..... and Create new Music, is Greats Keyboards..... for All Musicians!!!!
here in Brazil the first visualization and the first like
Whoah, ROMplers have gone gotten good.
The flagships anyway.
Fabulous
can you create new sounds from waveforms like in a classic synthesizer with it?
If that’s what your looking for, with a combination of solid presets, get the Yamaha MODX
Hello Korg.., I'm at Strasbourg for studying Musicology, and I think I'll choose this one 🥺
