      My only question is does this have the Herbie Hancock Chameleon bass preset like the Kronos does? It would save my band about $1400 for live performances.

    • @alicaramba7680

      @@NURREDIN There is 'Chameleon bass' preset, but I don't know is it the same you talking about. Besides, it's ridiculous one sound could determine a purchase. Just program this bass sound with a synthesizer you already have or use different bass. I mean, everyone around knows you are not Herbie Hancock.

    This would be a massive upgrade from my second gen kross, I’m still hesitant because of the lack of faders which would be nice to control the drawbars in real time which I could ignore as it’s for my own amusement at home and possibly recording. I may kick in the extra for a Kronos but they appear to no longer be available at any of the main music stores here in montreal Canada. Anyone know if Korg is planing on releasing a new workstation as an upgrade to the Kronos? I find it strange that there are very limited places that I can purchase a new one here or online.
    Anyone else using one of these for studio only? I’m not looking at gigging any time soon and would like something with a better sound engine than the kross (not that it was bad, it served me really well as a gigging board).
    *****EDIT*****
    I pulled the trigger on the nautilus, have had it for a couple of weeks now and I’m absolutely blown away with it. It sounds amazing, feels great and the sounds are easily accessible and tweakable to suit my needs. I was indeed correct that it is a massive upgrade from my kross. I don’t really miss the drawbars as I don’t play enough organ at the moment to use them so the adjustments on the touch screen are more than fine enough. I understand for some the boot up time might be long and could be an issue for gigging if the power goes out but it would definitely be an improvement for my bar gigs as the samples are much better and the lossless sound between switching patches is a huge benefit. This is more than adequate for my needs as a writer/producer of my own rock/blues music as well as a gigging board for the classic rock bar band I was part of. It is a decent bit heavier than the kross but feels much more solid especially the keybed but not crazy that it would be difficult to bring to a gig.

    Nice---impressive and Finally!!---I'm totally sold on this!! This will be my next investment. This is coming after 13 years of production on the Korg M3 88keys and recently the Korg Krome Ex 66 keys. The Nautilus seems to be exactly what I've been waiting for from Korg as a back up to the KorgM3.

      Hi, thanks for your interest! The Nautilus does come with a software editor, which provides deeper control over settings on the instrument when it’s connected to your computer. You may also be able to convert sample libraries from other formats, such as Native Instruments Kontakt, to the format accepted by the Nautilus - I’m not aware of an officially supported method for doing this, but there do seem to be some folks who have had success with it on the Korg forums:

    Unfortunate that after about 8minutes in, the left / right channels collapse into mono destroying All the beauty and space of pingpong delays, lush moving pads, Leslie simulations, chorus Rhodes, spacious reverbs and in many cases, the collapsed stereo field puts some sounds completely out of phase all together. It’s a shame as The Nautilus clearly is a capable and powerful machine, this does this beautiful instrument absolutely no justice. Please consider reposting this after the sound is fixed, it deserves it.

Is it one or the other on the USB connections? I think this is a DAW limitation to where it wants to see one dedicated AI at a time? I do have 2 computers side by side. @@kylew706 I own both the Modx (88) and the Kronos (88). I love how the Modx sounds overall,, keybed pretty good (GHS), considering it's a synth and not a digital piano. Great keyboard for the price. Kronos is a beast, complex and sounds spectacular. You can literally do everything you want. By tweaking, modifying and retouching certain parameters you get impressive sounds. The Kronos is in a different league. The Nautilus is a joke for the price, utterly unacceptable for what you get. My recommendation: test and play both by yourself before making the decisive move. The Modx sounds beautifuly out of the box and right off the bat without modifying anything. I got mine (brand new) for 1275e a few years ago, a little bit more expensive nowadays but after doing a proper research and waiting for the right time you'll get it for less than 1300e easy.

      Nautilus has additional 2 stereo outputs, full midi sequencer, 16 track audio sequencer, integrated sampler, plenty of patch expansion options (paid third party sound libraries), more extensive effects system and step better physical keyboard quality. If you don't need these features Nautilus isn't gonna be better than MODX for you. It is possible to migrate songs from a Krog Krome? I understand there will be some quite a bit of mapping involved to set the patches right to sound similar to how it was programmed on the Korg. But just wondering if the MIDI data can be migrated from te Korg Krome created in sequencer mode and somehow move it over to the Nautilus.

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! Yes, you can migrate all of that data using the .SNG files from the Krome. You’re right that there will be mapping involved and complexity will depend on the arrangement, but the Nautilus will allow you to associate the audio files and mapping for the samples.

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Peter! Thanks for your interest. Since there isn't a dedicated transpose button on the Nautilus, you would have to enter the Global menu in order to access the Key Transpose feature. One potential workaround for this would be to create a preset Program or Combination that is already transposed ahead of time. For more details, you can see Korg's complete user manual for the Nautilus at this link:

    Would the Korg nanoKONTROL Studio and the Korg PadKontrol work with the Nautilus? At the same time with a USB Hub?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! The Korg NanoKontrol Studio will unfortunately not work with the Nautilus because it's exclusively a USB MIDI device which must be plugged into a computer. The older PadKontrol device does have a 5 pin MIDI jack on it, which can be plugged into the Nautilus to trigger sounds or control patches within the keyboard.

    Comes down to the intended goal.
    To make an independant film--digital keyboard like this KORG or hybrid.
    You have a band that needs electronic sounds--KORG.
    There's no point in buying an acoustic piano unless that is exactly what some one is looking for in the home. You can't put an acoustic piano into "silent mode" to those around you. Best they can do is muffle the sound. Which few people want. Vs a full colume (controllable) simulation. or the sound from the real thing.

      @sweetwater  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Benjamin, thanks for reaching out! Honestly, the best stand for you will depend on the context in which you’re using it. I would have different recommendations for you depending on whether you are out gigging or not, if it’s going to be mostly stationary or if you need something that can be easily moved around or stored away, whether you stand or sit or both when playing, and so on. It’s a really nice workstation so I’m sure you will want a nice stand for it either way, but the best form for you could vary.
