This movie came out when I was thirteen/fourteen years old. My mom and stepdad took me to see it in the theater. We had the soundtrack to it, which I got to blare on a Marantz stereo. I was living in Miami at the time. I had a next door neighbor same age as me. She and I used to practice these dance moves over at her house. Those sure were the days. I didn't know then how good I had it!

Just been watching some clip's. Made me feel really good inside despite my aching bone's. I actually still have a crafty dance on my own to this stuff..lol . Sound track off the scale, Absolutely superb ! Go find what happened to the actor's also on here.. some now passed..made me feel quite sad. RIP to them all. It was a great time to be growing up in the UK. It was all about punk over here so I got some stick for still wearing flares.. I wanted to be Tony ! I was in my head every time I hit the dance floor.

Hey still love this 43 years later because even though disco and the '70s may be long, long gone. Everything was so much better back then. Cars, the clothes and disco just didn't and still doesn't bother me. I even like to dress up as Tony Monero wearing my short dark wavy hair, gold chains, and brown polyester pants. I went to a salsa dance studio in Brooklyn in October when I was visiting New York. Rather than have a salsa lesson before the social, they had a hustle lesson. They specifically mentioned this scene from the movie--one that I love--and proceeded to teach us the first 20 seconds of this dance. The leads were also encouraged to add in their own moves just like when Travolta says, "Follow me this time." We finished our practice to "You're a Native New Yorker" th-cam.com/video/1TbJz_5D3s4/w-d-xo.html. A few of the people waiting for the social started singing along, a guy in an "I love New York" T-shirt showed up, the party began and it was just magical.

I was x10 years old when I saw this money. My dad brought me the double pink alumn. I'm not sure where that alumn is now. God damn.
I have all other records since those days and earlier expect that alumn.

I believe that Karen Lynn Gorney is undersung for this film's success; especially as, year-by-year, we pull further away from that era. I still recall looking for two seats together for my wife and me, one Saturday night in January 1978 in the packed theater.

@@mimikinmiracle83 Thank you. In hindsight, I can't believe how young we were. I was a few months shy of 22 and my wife was a few months shy of 20(!). Very young. I was blessed with such an extraordinary woman as my spouse.

I had another thought. I wonder if this scene inspired the Dance Scene in Titanic when Jack and Rose were Dancing.

@@spaceace4387 Yep. Thanks for agreeing with me. I heard the Tavares were "furious" that their version wasn't in the Dance Contest Sequence but there was nothing they could do since they didn't own the rights to the Song. Too bad they could have sang all the way to the Bank due to Songwriting Royalties. The Music Of Philadelphia no matter what it is whether it's Kenny Gamble/Leon Huff's Music or Thom Bell/Linda Creed's work with The Stylistics is just as popular in England as it is in the US. Alot of Boy Band/Girl Group Icons "Cover" the music. From Jimmy Somerville (The Communards), then Take That, then on the very first Finale of Pop Idol in the UK Gareth Gates (The Runner Up) sang "You Are Everything" with Rachel Stevens formerly of S Club 7.
