- We have a very cool boxing match between a Muay Thai semi-pro and a self-proclaimed "Mike Tyson of China." The Muay Thai artist wanted to show the boxer that his boxing is okay, not the best. Let's see if Nak Muay Zhao Jiaji can best boxer Coach Yang (I can't find his full name). Muay Thai guy looks more of a boxer than the boxer
The "boxer" didn't throw combos, work the jab, or attempt to create angles. That's not boxer vs Muay Thai just a guy who swings haymakers with no fight IQ.

Muay Thai guy is impressive not only for doing this well against the boxer, but also for going against his muscle memory.

What bugs me inside is that I feel this was an uneven fight. The boxer was legit going all out and took every advantage he could get. Where as the Muy Thai guy seemed like he was playing with him. He didn't really chase him when he was open on purpose. Also he would have moments where the boxer was shelled up and stuck and the Muy Thai guy doesn't t it serious and does some playful hand gestures instead of taking the shots. It almost felt like the Muy thai fighter wasn't afraid of him in anyway possible.
You can really tell the boxer wanted to knock him out and prove he couldn't be beat in his own sport by the way he was launching his entire body, you can see the desperation in every swing. The Muay Thai guy looked like he was playing around and touch sparring him 🤣
Sorry to be that guy but this was a big difference in experience. The Boxer was loading up on his punches, he was tight, pulls his right back when he threw his left, and wayyy off balance. ALL BEGINNER MISTAKES. Mauy thai guy was calm and collected, moved his head, and changed up his tempo.

A lot of the greatest fighters in the world practice just muy thai for a reason. It’s probably the most fierce striking martial art to date.
I practice kickboxing & boxing but I’m not that dense to say things like that.

Say that Muay Thai is nothing if you take away the knees, kicks and elbows is stupid because we practice 8 limbs, we also spend time practicing blows and resistance. Believe me, receiving a punch to the face is not the same as receiving a knee, elbow or kick at maximum intensity. We share my gym with the boxing guys and from time to time we spar in two modalities: kickboxing and boxing. When we sparring kickboxing we almost always win and when we sparring boxing we are not far behind, precisely because punching is one of our main trainings. Don't think it's strange that a Muay Thai boy in boxing modality beats a boxer because we Muay Thais also practice fists, we are not ignorant in that area like a boxer trying to kick. The advantage that I see that has the boxer to Muay Thai guy is the guard because the boxer don't make care of a Knee, elbow or kick so is more efective in match with only blows.

Yeah. Muay Thai got super formidable when they got western boxing punches into their art.
according to a Lawrence Kenshin video, muay thai adapted to western rivals, like dutch kickboxers
@@josuemanuelparejacontreras6004 I believe in the early 20th century an English boxer fought a Muay Thai fighter in Thailand and beat him as they were generally unfamiliar with boxing combos and relied more on kicks, knees, and elbows. The Dutch training was much different and I believe came much later on, probably 1970s onwards.

I did feel like the fight IQ between the 2 was very mismatched though. The Boxer was going for haymakers right from the get go, but the Muay Thai guy was much more patient and choosing his moments. MT guy has boxer beat on fight experience. hands down. Glad to see the sportsmanship afterwards though.
Boxer dude punches hard and fast, but he seems to be lacking in certain aspects.
I expect some wicked footwork for his size, but he doesn't seem to excel in that area like his punches.
Unfortunately He needed at least 1 more tool like that to get the job done.
He was not hitting hard enough to make him respect his space, and so the kickboxer slowly just walked him down and waited and got what he wanted.
It seems like the kickboxer was more conditioned and both a better overall fighter and boxer.
He just waited, and that's usually something a good fighter does.
He's not a boxer, he's someone who trains boxing for less than a year.

My boxing couch always told us not to lean let alone throw punches that get us off balance
I feel like boxer is the guy in his gym who is used to having these heavy single shots that ppl are wary of. So he probably spars, but hasn't built up his combos or other skills.

Ok, so just to be clear, the boxer joined the gym last week right? Cause that shit does not resemble any kind of boxing style i've ever been taught. He is flailing his arms around, throwing wild haymakers, staring at the floor when he hides behind his gloves and even taking himself down with one of his hooks. He has probably heard some of the more experienced fighters at the gym talking about something they call a "jab", but is not really sure exactly what that is... 😂

The rules may have been boxing but red shirt was no boxer… no head movement, no jab, leading with wild lead hooks… not taking away from the Thai fighter who controls the whole match but red shirt was not even a semi competent western boxer.

Although the Muay Thai guy easily negated the Boxer’s power punches by simply having his hands up, it should be noted that if there were no gloves, the Boxer’s punches would have been more effective, blasting through the guard, breaking the Muay Thai guy’s hand, or not even running into a guard at all as guards defend a smaller area with no gloves on.
Shut up ignorant, Muay Thai fighters are master of the long guards they can deflect and evade punches with a Long guards.

Boxer barely throws any jabs, all the first round seems to be him throwing big looping hooks looking for some one hit knockout. I think the boxer guy has had success doing this in the past but not against somebody who has properly trained like the MT guy appears to be.
Also, how old is the boxer? Did he seem a bit gassed?

Calling this dude a boxer is like calling me a ballerina. No technique, no defense, no faints, slips. Throwing haymakers all day doesn't make one a boxer. What we saw is an experienced fighter against someone, who did boxing for 6 months.

That boxer guy is a complete amateur
The boxer guy definitely did not look very experienced at all, his head movement was minimal and predictable he kept taking his eyes off of his opponent and looking to the ground most of his punches looked like haymakers and every time he threw a punch he dropped his other hand not to mention he was loading most of his punches basically telegraphing them.
Muay Thai guy seems to be highly trained so the boxer, who I think can hurt other less well trained fighters, is unable to do it to a better trained fighter.
Both the boxer and the Muay Thai kind of suck… no offense. But to have your offense only being single looping punches… punches that take you off your feet btw, is kind of stuff you need to clean up before challenging people.
EDIT: okay so the Muay Thai guy is clearly better. He at least has defensible responsible combonations

Muay Thai cant fight with Boxing I can tell there is no much experience there anyways if kickboxers dont wear gloves on their feet and elbows I would take off my gloves also and see what happens.

Question. Why dont the boxers just rapidly circle to muay thai guys outside hand? They are very square and stiff. Its not like chinese martial arts where the fighter is linear and can angle on a dime.

I am incredibly surprised that we haven't seen a video where a boxer just dance beautiful circles around a kickboxer and take full advantage of the fact that they aren't as nimble as someone with less attacks coming their way.
I don't think red shirt dude is a better boxer necessarily, it seems like the kickboxer is better conditioned and fully to his credit he has reached an adequate level of boxing to take on Red shirt with hard fast punches.
But, credit to boxer, he is shorter with less reach and is taking on someone with toughness so unfortunately his strategy of winging hard punches and setting up for a counter when the kickboxer counters failed.
Because Muay Thai fighters are better fighters and they won't allow it. They can defeat a boxer in 8 sec. 1 lowkick and the boxer is dead😮
