I once knew a logger that started making / selling firewood. After about 12 years of selling / delivering firewood.... as we were kicking back a couple cold ones, he said to me, "Well...... I finally make my first million dollars in firewood sales". I said, "Congratulations!!" Then he said, "The problem is....... I started with 3 million".
Hey Chris, I did watch the vid the day it came out, but just catching up on my comments. I enjoyed this one, the 200$ processor is awesome to have In The Woodyard! Nice that it was able to be powered off the power pack! Thanks for having us along for this one! Always enjoy dropping by everyday! See you soon! Andrew from NB :)
By using this new high tech electric firewood processor and e-bike your channel really increases its ESG score. This score is so important. It has done wonders for bud light and target and disney 😆😆
I’m finally getting my firewood processing center going. After all the vehicle and equipment set backs I’m a bit behind schedule but it’s coming together nicely now.
For bucking small logs & limbs, and even larger pruning, I use a Milwaukee "Hatchet", an electric saw designed to be operated with one hand. The M18 model has an 8" bar (M12 is 6"). Just hang the piece over the edge of a table or wagon, hold with one hand while cutting with the other, rinse, repeat.
That $200 processor is the real deal! I've converted an old electric golf cart to lithium batteries and added an inverter so it's my portable power station now. Great for going to remote areas of my property and having power there for various reasons. Now I'm going to have to build one of those fancy processors.
G’morning Fellers. That’s a sweet machine. She can really eat. You should rig up the 3120 and 48” and use the tractor to load rounds. HAAAA. GoodNightIrene
We had a antique belt driven circular saw( about 4 foot diameter) powered by a small farm tractor......cut wood 10 times faster and only needed sharpened once a year....about 10 cord of wood. Same tractor at the same time operated the 4 way splitter. Once did more than 6 cord in a day just 2 of us ....stacked in the barn......all during daylight hours and didnt miss breakfast lunch or dinner.
……As to the status of Bert’s underware?…..The Less One Knows the BETTER!!, or as Irene’s Uncle used to say “ He’s Freeee Ballin!, just freeeee ballin……..
Works good for limb wood. I bought top handle saw that’s what it’s main use is for. There lot heat in limb wood. Lot more time. I do down 2 to 3 inches. If got drag the brush just well take it. Stay cool guys.
if you want to know how many watts that thing is going to pull you multiply the amps by the output voltage 120v x 8amps = ~960W will draw more depending on load and startup. also general rule for motor loads is to have an inverter able to do 3x "peak" wattage but often like what you see with your chainsaw you can get by with lower.
I guess it's a regional thing. I always thought it was called a white maple too. Just looked it up and sure enough it is a Silver maple. Though everything I find does say it is sometimes referred to as a White maple. So I am assuming it is just a local term. Love your content. I learn new things all the time. 😁
I think with a buzz rig would be as good as the chainsaw but like you said power is power but with a buzz rig you can be portable .I got one with a 31 in blade I took the pulley of for the tractor and put a 6 in double pulley in the table and a 3 in one in a motor 8 to 10 hp and with that blade well sharpen and set you can move lots wood with 2 people .I am just saying I like them better you can make wonder with them buzz rigs table put wheels on a 10 hp motor what ever you like and works great ..Nice video .. the wood cutter from MI...
I’m not a safety Sam, by a long shot, but just want to tell you about a close call I had splitting wood with my splitter. Was reaching across to deal with some stuck wood in my 4 way splitter and the cylinder was on the retract stroke and all at once the piston push block came flying back out at about 4 to 5 times the speed at which it had been retracting. I somehow barely managed to avoid getting my rib cage or hands crushed. What had happened as far as I could tell was the nut unscrewed off the end of the shaft, the piston bottomed out and then the fluid pushed the shaft back out at high speed. Shit happens, I got lucky… and immediately I replaced the Chinese cylinder with a us made cylinder, and converted the splitter to a vertical splitter and now keep all body parts out of path of plunger. So just be advised of what can go wrong when using hydraulics.
Working in a lumber mill, hydraulic lines opened very heavy gates, hose blew, heavy gate slammed shut on the end of a 20' green 2x6. Think a ruler on the edge of a table, you smack the end. The other end slammed my head, coming up under my hard hat, catching me in the temple. Hydraulics do funny things when something goes wrong.
I wonder if Andrew has an electric ULTRA in the works and I wonder how long a power pack would run it. My first log splitter was an electric Generac and it's small but powerful. I used it for a few months and. it split everything I threw at it that was a maybe 14-16" round. Only bad thing was it hit so hard whatever hand was using the lever got to be painful after about an hour so I put a longer , fatter lever and put pipe insulation over that and helped a ton.
it would probably be easier on that electric motor if it was just held constantly running than rapid start and stops. larger motors are only rated for a number of starts in a period of time since the inrush current is 5x name plate you get a heat build up without any cooling air because it then stops right away. the trigger control sorta only makes sense with a gas engine just to save on fuel.
Do you keep a check on the bar oil of the electric saw? Is there a reason you set the switch location so close to the saw’s tip, rather than in the middle of the bar?
If you had a way to mount the cutting jig above the bins you'd save a lot of labor with not having to pick up the short limbs off the ground and throw them into the bins
lol i love free wood.....i get driftwood from the beach about a mile from my place.....sands a little hard on the chain but sharpening practice is a small price for free wood
There's a funny meme going around on facebook, and I wish I could upload it here, but it goes like this. An investigating police officer is interviewing a witness and says, "So you saw 5 people beat up a guy on an electric bike. Why didn't you help?" The witness replies, "I thought 5 was enough." I hope your friend gets a kick out of this. LOL
surprising how much you can get done with a little electric saw. I bought 2 for cutting indoors, never stops raining here in the UK & the fumes off the husky made me ill so I cut indoors most of the time now.. Neighbours like the quieter saw too 🤣
@@jeanvaljohn3921 I wouldn’t say that. There’s plenty of workout with making firewood. I’ve turned my attention to being as efficient as possible. I’ve built a production station with roller conveyors to where my tractor does the lifting but it’s still physically demanding.

6 dollars in gasoline for the splitter, 10 dollars in electricity for the processor (but what about the DEF). WHAT About it hehe , you have to take the electricity in to account that equipment costs money. Keep on cutting
How is moving the heavy log easier than moving the chainsaw lol I sell about 3-6 face cords per day, the logs I cut up weigh a literal ton, this wouldn’t work for me I’m afraid.
@@InTheWoodyard Fair enough. I’ve been looking at a 25k processor for 18k and trying to decide if it’s worth it. When I saw $200 of course I got my hopes up 🤣🤣🤣 love the channel, all good!
I'm with the kid... When I was a teenager back in the early 80's I discovered on long hot hikes or just hard playing, my underwear would cause me to chafe. For a short time I tried boxers to see if it would help, but that felt like I was wearing a bathing suit scrunched up under my pants all day. So one day I decided to try commando and never looked back. It's the best feeling and don't know why more don't try it?? No clinging, plenty of air, less laundry, etc... Many people say "What if you have a little accident?" For the rare time that happens (once every decade and it hasn't been very dramatic) I'm not gonna give up my freedom. I felt the same way about mask mandates, but I'm betting that people who like wearing underwear didn't mind masks so much. Oh and girls who wear stringy thongs for underwear (which is most girls these days) I don't understand the purpose at all!
Cutting with a chainsaw is very inefficient. If you want to speed your operation up and save fuel and wood, then switch to using either a circular saw or a band saw.
I have been cutting fire wood and selling 200-300 cords a year for about 10- years and have cut firewood for over 54 years now, there are over 1200 videos on the channel you might want to see what else we do here, it was just a fun project for limb wood.
@@InTheWoodyard That's great, but my comment is more of a generalisation for anyone considering setting up or altering their own operation for firewood processing. I think it's perhaps a point worth making for anyone not that familiar with the industry.

Stay tuned for the next video which features an axe, clamped to a work stump and we hit the ax with full trees to cut them down.
That would be awesome!!! Thanks for the idea!
6 dollars in gasoline for the splitter, 10 dollars in electricity for the processor (but what about the DEF). WHAT About it hehe , you have to take the electricity in to account that equipment costs money. Keep on cutting
Not that much but yes some $$
Thats not to far off from red alder.
A way soft hardwood.
Dries fast but rots fast, without being under cover.
yup, it does that!
more power
YUP
Is the splitter cutting to 24-inch length?
No, 16"
@@InTheWoodyard I guess the small-diameter limb wood gives the impression of the rounds being longer than they are.
@@jakebredthauer5100 Agreed. I meant the $200 processor.
Burt could never live inthe city , not enough problems to solve.
Plenty of problems in the city but they are mostly society problems not the practical useful productive common sense ones.
Were the totes all holding the same size wood ? Thnx…
I.i.u.c.
Totes are for boiler wood.
Fire/ fire place wood gets piled high for drying.
( whether Tyler is there or not)
No, we mixed it up and need to add some more yet!
It all will burn!
No doubt Chris.
So split wood was tossed into totes at random was what I was asking. Thnx…
Good Morning Woodhounds!!
Hello!
Use a extension Cord...
We have done that too before.
How is moving the heavy log easier than moving the chainsaw lol I sell about 3-6 face cords per day, the logs I cut up weigh a literal ton, this wouldn’t work for me I’m afraid.
It is for limb wood an we wanted to see how big we could go if we wanted to. kinda like a toy.
To much info! Ha!!! But I am glad your boys are free.
Commando fire wood. Premium wood. 😂
Yup, I like the name!
Just shows what you can come up with and a little thinking
YuP!
