    Adam & Bert are handy guys, suggest they throw together a set of grizzly bars or a tumbler to help separate the dirt/smaller slivers/junk from the good stuff. You could use the stand alone conveyor to then move the pieces to the trailer. Great vid & a good long one. Thanks & glad to see you used the adjustable spanner wrenches I sent you.

    I know it is a lot easier on your body using the processor but I think you process wood faster using a saw and a splitter. Having equipment really makes things easier, if there is anything easy about firewood. That skid loader sure is a big help in so many ways. It is also nice to have good help to work with.

    • @thefirewooddoctor
      @thefirewooddoctor ปีที่แล้ว

      Equipment and help is key with a processor. If can get perfect firewood logs, like the kind Ohio Wood Burner gets, the Japa 405 and Perfect-split system is really fast. Absolutely ZERO respilts with the box wedge. Eastonmade would have a box wedge, but is an issue when it comes to the patents with Japa.

    The only thing I see you need to do differently is this. Separate the two ignition keys. One is the normal every day key and the other should be resting is a very safe and obvious place as a spare. Lol
    Other than that it looks like what my father always says, “seat time, all you need is seat time.” He also says “looks so easy even a 12 year old girl can do it.”
    Wish we were closer I would run that puppy all day for a nice meal at the A&W. 😊

    As we say here in the the south, “You’re lettin’ it eat!” That really makes quick work of some forests, my friend. Don’t know if you’ve thought of it but some pink tape at 16” on your guide rail of your log chute might help when judging the end of a log final cut. Hope it helps!

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, she is a real screamer! Yup, a mark for the end cut is a good idea, the end of the log clamp is 16" so that does help a bunch.

      Debris will always end up there after a lot of cutting and splitting. It was one little pencil size piece that fell through that got exactly in the right spot to plug the gear.

    Good video. If you had one more guy you could grab those big splits before they hit the conveyor and re-split on the Ultra. Re-splitting on the processor was time consuming. Thanks for the content.

    • @InTheWoodyard

      Yes, that might work but it would take more than one person, the wood comes fast! About 1/2 of it will be resplit.

    Morning Chris. All hands on deck today👍 I don’t know if it’s the camera angle but it’s looks like you will have to re split some of those larger pieces for your customers, or are you going to leave them that size? They are perfect for my Wood Insert for heating. Nice to see the 22MB back in action🪵 Have a great day!

    Chris, I know that you are aware of this by your headset comment, but for sure use good hearing PPE for that stuff. The long loud duration really does a number on the hearing if you are not careful. You can double up with ear canal inserts along with muffs.

    Good night Irene Good morning Irene,just like night and day. So Chris one of your Over 1000 videos you said your Brother has you try his Husqvarna. Well I purchased the 4?? Rancher. Cuts so much faster, better than Poland Pro. We hauled in 8 dump trailer loads of logs, free logs to get our fire wood inventory started. PS we did not take your advice on only buying when you have the cash. Well ok we did pay for not finance our Brute force 20-24 splitter. Picked it up Wednesday. We are cutting rounds first ( like you said do one think complete then the next) . I was on vacation from day job but will this weekend "Run that splitter" before going back to day job🤮.
    Maybe we should visit you and do a split off.

    At $154,000, you are blessed sir.
    Just the interest at 9% on a business loan in year one is about $13.5k. The principle on a 10 yr note is $10k for year one. You can't efficiently run without a second person, that's $40,000 per year which is under $20/hour. Add in the cost of the loading tractor and you're in another $8k per year. Maintenance and fuel, where maintenance is much higher through life of machine and can be factored in for year 1, another $10k. $80,000 per year to run. Then you have the management of a person, them quitting, their vacations, sick time, etc. You can't run that much wood and not have a delivery person because then you wouldn't be paying off the machine... Did I mention you are blessed?

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  ปีที่แล้ว

      You sound like a very pessimistic accountant. I know of several firewood businesses that have between 2 and 5 processors that run every day all day and sell and deliver 2-3 semi truck loads of firewood EVERY day. One of them has more that 20 anther that has 30 and the biggest I know has 60 employees, so it can be done. I do understand there are money and time costs to run a business I have run my own businesses for over 30 years now and I agree...it is not easy and it does not happen overnight.

  • @BKD70
    @BKD70 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Wow, the splitter on that thing is "the irresistible force". NOTHING stops it. The crooked wood can really slow things down! Just wondering, is there a control lockout to keep things from accidentally moving when you're up out of the seat, like when you have to manually re-orient a piece in the splitting chamber? I was getting nervous that you might bump a control lever while doing that and cause yourself a problem... but maybe it's not an issue.
    Looking at all the wood you ran through the machine that day, how long do you think it would have taken doing it the old fashioned way?

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  ปีที่แล้ว

      Some functions can only be run when the others are not, and some you could mess up if you had more hands. I think it is 3-4 times faster and more productive.
