      "A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly against the city. But the traitor moves among those within the gates freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears no traitor; he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their garments, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation; he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city; he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared." ~ Taylor Caldwell, A Pillar of Iron (1965)

      I hope everyone understands that it does not matter who is in the top job because the real issue is a system problem: greed. We have let many parts of our economy take advantage of the American people. This is both upsetting and scary for the future of our country. My husband and I plan to retire in another country in two years. We are very worried that Social Security will not have enough funds. We will depend on his pension, a 403(b), and a strong investment account with my financial advisor, Abby Joseph Cohen. Our national debt keeps growing more and more every month. Our government must get its spending under control and reduce the federal budget.

      @@RosemarieHatch
      They're not just taking advantage through the economy, they've taken control of what we say and write. For instance, the guy who is interviewing JP is responsible, together with his cronies (Cameron, May, Johnson, Sunak), for flooding the UK with immigrants (over 900,000 immigrants last year - an invasion which is devastating our country).
      But, if you point this out, you will be fortunate if your comments aren't censored. And those in the UK who have become vocal beyond the limits of political correctness have been jailed.
      Even in the comments section below, I pointed out that instead of being punished for wrecking our country, people like Michael Gove are rewarded by society for appearances on media outlets (like this). But my comment was censored.
      And, as long as we’re silenced by people who are satisfied with the corrupt status quo, there’s little we can do; other than to acknowledge to each other in private that our culture is finished; that the new corrupt order (culturally and economically) is all pervasive; and, that we should simply avoid it at every opportunity. It will then become what it partially already is; a pointless echo chamber.

    Canada is a woke hellscape. Canadian streets have seen so much death and suffering due the extreme left policies. Our dollar is worth nothing and we have a petulant malevolent half wit for a PM that has destroyed everything he could. We still have political prisoners in jail and many persecuted by this government. All Fed Gov agencies have been compromised here including the courts and the RCMP. You struggle to get a place at a University unless you check the right ethnicity boxes. Crime is out of control. It’s v hard to get a job. We also now have thought crimes passed into law. Young people have fled Canada in droves Housing is too expensive and under supplied. Mr P is if anything understating the facts here.

      It's bizarre - instead of being punished for failure, all the failures of past decades (Major, Blair, Brown, Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss, Sunak - makes me shudder to list them..) all these failures (including Gove) are REWARDED for failure. They not only get away with trashing our nation, but they're rewarded for it.. mind blowing. I added a sentence 'As long as we remain impotent sheep, it's inevitable...' which presumably the censors took as a cry for revolution (which it certainly was not - the British are incapable of revolution) so the comment was censored. I had also included an allusion to the 900,000 strong invasion of immigrants which Gove and his mates unleashed on our country last year by ending my comment 'we need to wake up and smell the samovar'. If comments like this are going to be censored, there's no point in commenting on TH-cam, we can consider the site part of the woke zombisphere.

    I haven’t checked Canada’s GDP for quite some time. I visited Canada couple of times in 1990s and it was quite affluent, in some respects better off than the US. As it turns out JP is right and it is astonishing. Canada’s GDP per capita is $53k while in Mississippi it is also $53k. It is entirely beyond my comprehension. Even more astonishing is that Canadians do not riot.

    • @jodibraun6383
      @jodibraun6383 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

      One reason Canadians don't riot is that we're too spread out over a gigantic land mass in order to assemble in any kind of numbers that would draw any real attention. (Personally I wish we had the drive to protest and the finesse to do it the way the French do! They have it down to an art).
      Add to this the baffling fact that some Canadians don't even recognize that there's a problem, (which is how we got here in the first place). Our mainstream media is largely state-funded, and doesn't care to show our current government in a negative light, so a large number of our people are ignorant of the situation except in a "gee, groceries are getting pretty pricey" kind of way, with no inkling of why that might be.
      And unfortunately, the last time Canadians protested, (I'm not talking pro-Hamas protests, which are largely left alone for our leader's fear of being called some form of "ist" or "phobe"), they were trampled by horses, arrested and had their bank accounts frozen. Even those who supported them financially after their bank accounts were frozen had their own accounts frozen. And despite our "fearless leader" having been told his use of the Emergencies Act was unconstitutional, some of these people who were arrested are still being shuffled through the court system. It's ridiculous.
      The state of our country is ridiculous and we're all clutching the hope of an early election with our claws.

    This is the first time I've heard someone admit that cold kills more people than heat. So, maybe a little bit of warming is really not such a bad thing after all. This should be obvious to anyone over 20 years old who has ever paid attention to the realities of the world. That rules out all of the so-called greens. Few of them are over 20. Fewer have paid attention to anything beyond their dogma, and most of them wouldn't see anything obvious, even if it slapped them in the face.

    I blame the DEI hires. Aviation accidents are the best illustration of this problem. DEI policies negatively affect quality and safety in all industries, but incidents in civil aviation cause the most coverage and reflection. The situation is very bad everywhere. I also see it in my workplace in Canada: the incompetence of many DEI hires is obvious. If no one checks or analyzes what they do, it often leads to disasters of varying sizes. Thank you Mr. Obama and Mr. Trudeau for this. I hope Trump in the US and PP in Canada will fix this. I will not fly until DEI departments are disbanded in all industries related to civil aviation.

      He's well aware the need for the adversarial system to keep each sides fringes under control. When the fringe becomes the majority, like in the case of many left wing governments in power today, that is completely destabilizing to society. Same holds true for the fringe right, although there would be way more screeching going on about that. It also emboldens the fringe right to action as a reaction to the excesses of the left. Peterson knows a return to the center by the lefties is the only time tested way out of this mess.
