I really loved this episode and how it teaches the hazards of perfection... I think the one thing I really didn't care for was the scene with the new librarian and the "Grossly Overdue Book Return Office for Ponies Who Should Know Better." ....WHY WOULD THEY TAKE THE TIME TO NAME A SUITE THAT?!?!
Because bureaucracy! It can never have too many pointlessly specific specializations, which is often maddening for people who want an efficient system. Seriously, how many government agencies have their functionality not overlap with at least one other government agency?
Some of the the many things i like about this episode is that we got to hear Derpy talk again, we see unicorn Twilight in a flashback, and we got to see old characters that haven't appeared since previous seasons, characters like Moondancer.
You know when you said a childhood problem (at 4:00) it reminded me of an official short that Hasbro did called starlight the hypnotist. In its most basic description Twilight ask starlight to help with her extreme fear of ladybug's almost to the point of death fear whenever one is near her. and we hear later that her brother shining armor is the main cause of this, it makes me wonder if there's other stuff because of her family whether it's her brother going to far on a prank that leaves psychological and practically permanent damage or her entire family being perfect ocd's even down to games like bingo being their favorite. I'm just saying I think there's a lot more of a darker history of twilight than we see on the surface.
I totally get you Bliss. Not so much in the art department (because I’m not a full time artist) but mine gets triggered around being on time and being in control of finances and financial stresses. Nowadays, all I gotta do is use the credit card or just let people know I’m running a few minutes late and it’s perfectly fine if things get out of my control :) I think we all Twilight over something.
Although this was not one of my favourite episodes it was good regardless, like you and twilight sometimes I freak out on trying to get everything done perfectly. They did all their homework, read every page/chapter back-to-back that the test would be discussing and after all that...they get a C. This is a pretty good ep, the Twlinana's part was wonderful and great to see brought back, but it does lose some points for me in having no idea how libraries work. I can overlook the card that the library keeps to tell them who has the book being in the book itself, but not it somehow being the librarians fault if someone bring back a book late, how are they supposed to have any control over that? You know, just came to me, those two goofs could have fixed each other, if she had messed up and left the "who has the book" slip in the book she gave to Twilight, the library would have no way of knowing who had the book and it would look like it just vanished, and losing a book outright would make more sense for shaking her from her ideal of 'perfection' then someone being late bringing one back. But beyond that issue, yeah this was a sweet, fun ep with a good morale.
As a guy who tends to be organized when it comes to important things such as school, work, and my videos I can relate this episode whenever I'm late for something like 5 minutes late to class.

ok, before that episode, twilight was the princes of Friendship and the Princess of Books. Now we have to delete the last Title because of this one incident. Oh and Blizzy: Please stop Twilighting so much, it's not good for your health. ;-)
I wouldn't say having to delete all my videos during the COPPA scare was a blessing in disguise, but things like Twitter and Facebook were taking up my time and I was running out of ideas.
This is why I see you as a good role model lightning because You care about everyone around you and it is true we can’t always please everyone but at the end of the day we can only do what we can do and this is a message I’ve always tried showing people I may have autism but at the end of the day I don’t Always deserve special treatment all the time I’m not a God I’m just a man who tries to do the right thing no matter how hard it is and live my life like everyone else besides where only human after all and this is why I respect the brony fandom became it carers.
I honestly think Hasbro could have just named this episode "twilighting in a nutshell" and none of the staff would have had to create a clever title that is similar to the title of something else but is just reworded Also i can totally agree with the whole twilight's freakouts being relatable. As a person who has autism and a part time job I do tend to set expectations for myself that are WAY higher than normal expectations someone would give me and this can often be very stressful for me and due to my high anxiety disorder I am EASILY prone to having panic attacks. However I am glad that unlike twilight when these do occur I wouldn't go so far as what she did in "lesson zero" by creating a problem to solve a problem that only becomes a bigger problem later (Bliss if you end up reading this comment make sure you tell Firebrand what I said right bellow) Also I think that with twilight her freakouts are way over the top FOB Equestria could literally make an episode called taking twilight's freakouts too seriously and people would agree. Twilight is the kind of.....pony......who takes EVERYTHING WAY TOO SERIOUSLY like the part were the new librarian says its ok that her book is overdue because the librarian who worked at that time doesn't anymore but twilight being the perfectionist that she is says its not ok were as most people would just say "oh ok I guess I don't have to worry about that anymore"
I don't remember who, but someone calculated the overdue's fine... It was not pretty... Like, it was basically the annual budget of a country levels of "not pretty"
I know the struggle bliss I also haveOCD I used to struggle with it really bad It made me really introverted and hard to start a conversation I would always wait for someone to talk to me but I started to come out of my shell after a little bit pushing through it in fact MLP friendship is magic helped me That in the classes my parents put me in program wise to help me the mechanisms that help me are Listening to music or my personal favorite when I get the inspiration making fanart it may not be as bad as it used to be heck I still struggle with it a little bit today but OCD it can’t control me (personally I relate to both applejack and twilight)
As someone who's brought back a library book (or several) late, here's the worst that could happen. You get charged the publisher's list price and no more. Also, my first bounced check was for a library fine. ::hugs::
I learned perfection can be overated and times ocd will get to me at times but i take times to relax x3 My story with a kid Is when i was working in a gift shop a family came in and had rainbow dash shirts on so they loved the show so much that there were two girls and a boy that i asked him that if he like rainbow dash and instantly he said how fast and cool she was So been practicing voices i gave him my best RD impression and his jaw dropped he went to say to his mom "MOM SHE SOUNDS LIKE RAINBOW DASH!" afterwords before they left i drew him a little rainbow dash drawing pn receipt paper he was soo happy
Lesson Zero is...one of my least favorite episodes, in my opinion and it's not just for the obvious reason (namely Twilight's behavior.) The other reason I don't like it quite as much is while it was a fair idea, having the other members of the Mane 6 write letters to Celestia didn't sit well with me; even to this day. The whole escapade happened because of Twilight's overzealous perfectionism, something the others immediately called her out on. So, why have THEM write letters too when THEY already know about friendship
sadlobster1 I see what you mean but I don’t see it like a form of punishment like you describe, but as a means to be supportive to Twilight and to help participate in the lessons she learns, because no they didn’t all understand friendship as deeply as they thought. Example? Dismissing Twilights fears when she was freaking out over her paper. They even admitted they should have paid attention instead of ignoring her. Good friends try their best to support each other even if their view points on a situation differ
@@lightning-bliss Understood but to a degree, the others were correct. Twilight thinking that not sending a letter to Celestia every week was the end of the world seemed like she was making a mountain out of a mole hill. Thus, it's to be expected that others might be dismissive
I was scared the librarian was dead. There I said it. I thought it was gonna be a sad story about letting things go but it was a nice story about things not needing to be perfect 😊
I really enjoy the episode. And I will say it’s funny that Twilight went crazy over a overdue book, but I feel like she forgot about the song she sang with her friends in that one episode fame and misfortune. You know about not being flawless. For me as an example, I come up with ideas that I want to do and want to comit. But one of my flaws is my laziness tends to get the better of me and end up not doing it at all. It’s something I have been trying to do better in, and it even battles my ocd if I feel the need to get something done. But like Twilight, I needed to accept that I have flaws and if something is not done in time, it’s not the end of the world.
Note to self: make sure to tell bliss to take her time if I commission her. When I commission someone I always tell them to take there time and thank them for all of their hard working. :)
Spike was my spirit animal in this episode. We all need a shoulder to lean on. Sometimes we offer it. Sometimes we need it. But no matter the reason. It's the perfect way to say we care. Can I get an amen.
ah, mistakes. I hate making mistakes. if i think I've made a bad one, I go into full panic meltdown mode and the 'what ifs' come out. 'what if this happened?' what if i did that' 'what if, what if, what if'. it's by far the most damning question you can ask yourself. So I relate.Don't have OCD but I do seem to have some sort of perfectionist issue so i can relate to Twilight's behaviour.
I honestly feel that I might have some form of it myself, especially when I get up too late, but I dunno, heh, either way this is definitely a good lesson for adults too
I don't see this as OCD; it seems like anxiety to me and tbh, I have trouble with how egotistical Twilight is in this episode. No one gave a damn about the book, the world continued to turn and Twilight wasn't worried about anyone/anything else but her own reputation. Also, I have to question her effectiveness as a leader if she constantly needs her hoof held like this. It makes her characterization in the finale feel ooc because she never went through an arc that tackled either problem: her anxiety and her ego.
NoirRaven except she wasn’t just worried about her reputation in this episode, she was worried about getting someone fired too, that being the big issue
@@lightning-bliss Only because she feels responsible for it (and come on, who gets fired over something like this?) Dusty herself says that she more or less quit when she felt freedom from perfection, making Twilight's guilt complex completely moot and unnecessary, yet she never learned to dial it back when she gets like this.
@@NoirRaven Technically she does after this episode, at least to me anyway (Keep in mind there are multiple writers for the show so obviously some mishaps are gonna occur). And yes even though this would be considered "mute" to some or pointless, in the moment Twilight felt like she hurt someone on a big level. Now that may seem small and dumb to you but TO HER it was huge. This is common in real life as well. I freak out over something as simple as forgetting to show for a Patreon call by a few minutes and apologize purfusely for doing so and try to make it up to those I'm meeting with. Again not a big deal to some but it is to others. The whole point of this episode though was to learn a lesson that "Perfection" is an impossible pursuit. Did this episode excute this lesson well? I would say yes. Was it predictable? Yes. But I stated all this in my review.
@@lightning-bliss Sorry but I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you on Twilight because her spiral in the finale and learning the same lesson she learned eight times over by then, says otherwise. I'm unsure how to address the rest without coming off as insulting but, if it's that bad/debilitating, then I must recommend professional intervention. There are a lot of medications that one can take on an occasional basis. I'm on one of them myself and it really does help me socialize better and not feel as bad for little blunders.
Well to be honest I have kept a book from my primary school library Sense high school and I’m about to leave to lol the book is called “The headless bike rider”
Multiple Personality Disorder got renamed, partially because people kept misunderstanding it. The MPD that everybody THOUGHT existed... in fact, never did. OCD is much the same way, look up "mailman opens mailbox 60 times" to get an example of what OCD is supposed to be. Not that what we "call" OCD isn't an actual disorder, but people mistake that disorder with OCD so much that... we need, I think, a pair of new names, one for what the poor mailman has... and one for the anxiety/perfection/control disorder that people constantly call OCD... even though, well, it isn't. Also, it was Twilight, calling the other ponies "crazy" in Episode 1 that hooked me.
Bliss, your health both mental and physical are more important than any deadline of any type. Your fans what what is best for you and from you. I would bet that the former is more important them as fans and as your closest friends. Your fans don't what you working yourself sick. In any way, shape or form. To know you worked yourself sick. Either from the mental stress of getting a project or risking your own physical health. By not eatting right and getting the rest you need. Would take alot out of the joy the project was ment to bring.
Gonna be real here, I thought it was a reference to the famous song from Phantom of The Opera. It's a song about a very lewd subject. So I was really relieved that this show wasn't going to go the route of unwanted physical actions and attractions. I don't trust Hasbro to do that right. Especially after what happened with other episodes.
Twilight Sparkle is best pony, but I put this episode within the lower half of the "good moral episode" territory. I also LOVED the lesson behind it and I understand the type of situation Twilight Sparkle is in for these type of situations (and it's not just because I have "high functioning" autism), but the episode dragged on with unnecessary padding, some of which you basically NAILED it! But hey, it's better than Newbie Dash...And we've got the pony version of paintball and wind sailing to enjoy! XD

4:36 to 4:42 explains why i am so passive with most people better then i ever can
Great Video thank you so much please keep up your amazing work and live long and prosper
Freedom from Perfection.
Aren’t we all? 🦠
Lightning bliss, goldenfox, jasper pie, keyframe and misanthro pony should review the last laugh!
I honestly think Hasbro could have just named this episode "twilighting in a nutshell" and none of the staff would have had to create a clever title that is similar to the title of something else but is just reworded
Also i can totally agree with the whole twilight's freakouts being relatable. As a person who has autism and a part time job I do tend to set expectations for myself that are WAY higher than normal expectations someone would give me and this can often be very stressful for me and due to my high anxiety disorder I am EASILY prone to having panic attacks. However I am glad that unlike twilight when these do occur I wouldn't go so far as what she did in "lesson zero" by creating a problem to solve a problem that only becomes a bigger problem later
(Bliss if you end up reading this comment make sure you tell Firebrand what I said right bellow)
Also I think that with twilight her freakouts are way over the top FOB Equestria could literally make an episode called taking twilight's freakouts too seriously and people would agree.
Ok Aeon snuggled with you is so heartwarming 😄
::hugs::
Personally I don't mind if an episode is "predictable". I enjoy seeing somewhat relevant plots occuring with different characters.
I learned perfection can be overated and times ocd will get to me at times but i take times to relax x3
My story with a kid
Is when i was working in a gift shop a family came in and had rainbow dash shirts on so they loved the show so much that there were two girls and a boy that i asked him that if he like rainbow dash and instantly he said how fast and cool she was
So been practicing voices i gave him my best RD impression and his jaw dropped he went to say to his mom
"MOM SHE SOUNDS LIKE RAINBOW DASH!" afterwords before they left i drew him a little rainbow dash drawing pn receipt paper he was soo happy
Lesson Zero is...one of my least favorite episodes, in my opinion and it's not just for the obvious reason (namely Twilight's behavior.)
The other reason I don't like it quite as much is while it was a fair idea, having the other members of the Mane 6 write letters to Celestia didn't sit well with me; even to this day.
1:02 can reform anyone ( in small writing )--> (she could possibly reform Hitler if she put her mind to it)
I was scared the librarian was dead. There I said it. I thought it was gonna be a sad story about letting things go but it was a nice story about things not needing to be perfect 😊
It is absolutely lovely Blissy.
Another interesting thing this episode did was introduce Silver Shoals for later on.
I knew Bliss would love this!
Hope you and your friends still go to regular comic cons from time to time
01:12 "perfect mane". cut to lesson zero.
Lighting bliss just take ur time dont over work ur self
ah, mistakes.
@@NoirRaven Free to disagree, everyone has an opinion ^^ thank you for sharing regardless.
I didn’t really liked this episode.. I think twilight was a little too dramatic... I still liked the flashback and the moment when derpy talked tho
Well to be honest I have kept a book from my primary school library Sense high school and I’m about to leave to lol the book is called “The headless bike rider”

I am with you Lightning Bliss have a nice week and weekend.
wonderful video.
Lightning Bliss I know how you feel.😔😌🌈
Say Lightning Bliss, when do we get to your thoughts on the season finale? (Grogar, in particular)
When twkigt says she doesn't want a book
Perfection is an illusion we are all want to strive for no pony is perfect
Mistakes are normal Chios is key
who is the one above King Sombra
6:05 okay I am sorry to say this bliss but.. AEON X BLISSY!
No.
0:14-0:19: anxiety in a Nutshell.
Yo bliss how what do you think of mlp the bridge .......... mlp Godzilla
my hart brock wean i had an plan to find out wane i can wach mlp sesing 9 hope can and it will apear for me
Twilight Sparkle is best pony, but I put this episode within the lower half of the "good moral episode" territory. XD
Intro Sequence: [Is overly rainbows and sunshine and happiness to the *Nth* degree]
Me in a world with a constantly deteriorating political landscape, carbon emissions, green house gasses, along with many unnamed issues where my only saviors are memes and friends: "...Yknow what... i'll bite"
Meh the episode was funny & cute but I just didn’t really get much out of it but hey I would give it a watch again
Hey lighting bliss do u know sawtooth waves?
Wait... Are your goggles also your glasses?
FIRST FOR THE FIRST TIME AHHHH!!!!
YOUR THE BEST!!!!!
Long story short, predictability isn't a bad thing as long as it's handled well.
ASK THOSE WHO YOU HAVE COST TO FORGIVE YOU, THEN FORGIVE YOURSELF, PROBLEM SOLVED, NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OVERDUE? WHAT THE F***!
Believe me, if I was too pay for a commission, I wouldn't care if it took 3 years as long as it was actually what I payed for
That's nice but what does that have to do with this video?
@@lightning-bliss it mostly doesn't, I was honestly paying more attention to what you were saying about your schedule than the episode itself lol
