As someone who's father in law worked security at a nuclear power plant, I can assure you that most power plants are a struggle to keep running. They are designed to stop running safely without human intervention. The odds of them actually "melting down" is extremely small.

Yep, that info is readily available to find on the internet (where this video is posted), if the makers can't do basic research into what they are presenting then it makes me wonder if any of the other suggestions they make is to thin the survivors out a little...

Chemical plants, and their temporarley storaged waste (waiting for a transport to a dispose-facility that will never arrive) would probably be a more serious threat.....
Avoid any fabric where they produce paper........ they opertate with strict security methods, but once there is nobody to enforce them, or to educate you at what i safe or not, things could go southwards very quickly if you go near of one.......

Plus all those Rural People, coming into MY City, thinking they can just come in and help themselves, oh no, their supplies will become MY Supplies when I lead them into my Traps. One thing that never seems to happen in zombie movies or for that matter disaster movies in general is that nothing much seems to set on fire. If the zombie apocalypse really happened pretty much everything left unattended would eventually catch fire and burn at some point in the proceedings.

Also, nobody seems to think about the lack of proper waste-disposal systems, because WHILE we wait in line to be converted into zombies, we will still continue to poop and pee and generate other waist, wich is not a problem if you and I do it, but CAN become a problem if we are joined by our millions of (temporarely) fellow survivers, and nobody is operating and reparing the machinery, collectors, tubes and garbage-trucks.......
The long-time survivers should avoid any big concentration of former humans, not only because of the zombies, but because it will become very quickly a hazardous enviroment in the near future......

Getting Out/Bugging out is a terrible idea for most people. Whether you're a prepper or not , it would likely be a smarter strategy to stay at home and fortify. You or your car can hold a very limited number of supplies. Your house can hold exponentially more. People seem to overestimate how much they can carry and underestimate how many supplies they would consume in a bug out situation. Most people would just get dead faster by bugging out vs staying at home.

and when the water stops working? and all the bodies start piling up? the stench alone would be miserable. then there would be the disease from all the bodies. staying home works for the first couple weeks, since its possible it all gets back under control. but if you live in the southern US where it gets 100 degrees in the summer, staying inside with no power is a death sentence.

But ya, the south west isn't probably the best place to try to survive unless u have desert survival skills but it is actually probably one of the best places to be cuz most humans won't wanna be there, so if u do know how to survive there, then do it.

Surviving the first year will be toughest. It will get easier as time goes on.
Max saturation will occur in first months. Most lone wolfs will be dead. The walking dead will wear their shoes out quickly. Then their feet etc. due to the loss of skin on feet as they shamble along. Crawling zombies are easier to kill and less dangerous.

Honestly, a zombie apocalypse wouldn't be that bad, since walking corpses aren't possible, the zombies would technically still be alive meaning you could kill them by conventional means (so no headshots only thing). Also, the zombies would succumb to dehydration in under a week, so all it would really take to stop a zombie apocalypse would be a quarantine. The worst of it would probably be at the very beginning due to everyone being caught off guard by it. As long as you survive the initial outbreak, you should be fine.

The thing is that what makes zombies such a threat is the fact that they don't get tired and that if they bite you they infect you. So I think the trick or strategy is to make sure that your body is covered up so they can't bite you and you must always have a safe place that you can go to so you can rest. I believe that if you are aware of them and hopefully in some situations you have other people to watch your back that you can survive them but if you just go about your business you're going to set yourself up to be taken off guard or you're going to get tired and when you're tired or you're under fed you're not going to think as clearly or be a sharp or move as quickly in response to some stimulus

Many would be thinking the same leading to potential violence, and sickness. The best thing imo is where not a lot of people or undead can get to easily. Oil rig (they normally are supplied with everything for 30+ days at a shot and you can fish) Supply warehouse (may have food, medical needs and will have machinery to defense the building. Forklifts and pallets full of heavy items make for some safe areas. Animal Hospital. Has medical supplies and canned food. Yea dog food isn't going to be a great thing but it's editable and not many will think to go to an animal hospital for food.

But basically, if you hear about crazy cannibal attacks, get a bunch of food and water climb on top of your house with a ladder 🪜 set up a tent ⛺️ and wait it out

@antop4597 Diseases that transfer by bodily fluids really don't transfer THAT fast... granted, the turn rate is crazy fast, yes, but look at real-life cases, ebola didn't spread that fast or far in America because we have things like running water, etc. Basically, the only way to get infected is to get bitten or get bodily fluids in you. So, if you can get to a safe place and hole up your golden and you can outlast it.

The first rule should be: even with the zombies roaming, there is still a panic to get suplies, this last about 3 days to a week, this now makes scavenging vastly more difficult, especially when the power finally goes out, as shops tend to have rows which can hinder some movements.
The second rule is: know your enemy. Find a way to take notes, using a drone is a good idea. You're looking for answers to these questions:
    >What do the zombies do out of habitat or instinct?
    >How long does it take for an infected to turn?
    >Do they have a suspended state and if so how long and when?
    >When are they most active?
    >What is their preferred place to hunt?
    >How do you kill them? What is the quickest way to kill them?
    >Is their bodily fluids more hazardous excluding the infection?
The questions are basic and can be used for human enemies or for hunting prey animals.
If you live in the UK, you best hope it is October as fireworks are very useful, you can use the lights and rapid fire fireworks could be a great distraction, while some others can be canibalised for other purposes.
You also need weapons, understaning where you are counts, just because the UK is not as gun friendly as America doesn't mean it's over for you. Anything is a weapon, the UK is a nation that improvises weapons.
What skills do you have in your toolbox?
When scavenging, can you identify real gold and silver? As people will trade for this, just as much as food, for lots of reasons.
The most important thing to ask yourself is can you yo ho ho and blow a man down if needed?
Some can't, be it living or the undead. This is why many lose their life. They won't blow a man down to stop a ressurection, because it's their family. Well, we will all go through this, hoping there is a cure or period of time the host needs to wait before the host regains their cognitive function from before being infected. Chances are there won't be, as you can't cure a dead body.
This has to be understood on a personal bases before you can move to the rules in the video.

The UK will suck to be in for the apocalypse. Few edible types of berries and mushrooms in forests, little game to hunt, barely any firearms, small military hardly equipped to maintain order, densely populated, damp weather, mostly urban country where not many people have wilderness or survival skills in general, not much of a culture of growing food on private land either - gardens are there just for aesthetics.
I guess enough people do know how to fish if you get to the coastal towns, and there are a lot of castles in the countryside but then everyone will have the same idea of getting to the castles, or to the Shetland islands for that matter.

    • @Johnny-Wilde-Productions
      @Johnny-Wilde-Productions 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Pythoner
      1. Food would be a little scarse, even with access to tinned and dried goods, not to mention farms, as people may not realise food doesn't just live in Asda or the corner shop, some outdoor shops will have a supply of ration packs, which may lead to early cannibalism (preying on the vulnerable)
Foraging would depend on location, granted, Wales and Scotland have the highest chances for this, as there is a higher chance of edible berries, mushrooms and small game, chickens would still exist, so you have eggs, pet shops will have rabbits, so a good source of meat (according to the saying)
      2. When you have access to books on growing crops/plants and maybe one experienced person, this wouldn't be an issue. It may take time starting with zero experience, but some vegetables are easier to grow than others, It would be learning how to preserve food that would be harder. Not to mention, books can give you a basic understanding of animal care, but you'd still need a vet and experienced animal breeder, if you can.
      3. The military would not hold order. It would be an impossible task once we hit a certain limit. They'd be the first to take as much equipment and leave, same with armed police. That said, firearms won't help you survive any better in the UK. People will want them, regardless of proficiency or not. Yes, I wouldn't pass on one if I found one. That said, there are far more fun weapons that could be employed, but the same issue (maintaining them) occurs. We'd be back to bows eventually anyway, but that's something the UK has been good at, plus arrows are reusable and easily made (with the right knowledge).
The weather would actually be survivable, damp or not. There are ways to damp proof in nature.
I wouldn't want to live in a castle. They'd have to be restored to live in (which would take a lot of resources and person power, time), it would be a red bath to see who lives as the king of it all, but you're always under a sword, someone always wants what you have and will unalive to get it.
The UK has other things that would help protect what you have. My concern would be power and being able to keep it on or shut it off, as if any UK nuclear power plants couldn't cool their rods, then that would be a bigger theat than cannibals and nutritional need meeting, assuming there is power still and no one shutdown the reactors.

    • @Pythoner
      @Pythoner 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@Johnny-Wilde-Productions Well just to make some counterpoints
      1. Yes I'd agree food will be scarce, the UK is far too populated for its actual amount of farmland and imports too much of its food - which will all cease past the initial days. Of course most of the population will steadily join the ranks of the undead anyway, but the point is that there won't be a lot of ready foodstuffs, canned food, as well as farm animals and crops in the country in general. The UK's industrial and logistics chain is built on the 'just in time' principle
Foraging will be an option anywhere in the north of England, as well as Scotland or Wales - but again you'll need people who know what they're doing. Most of the population is urban and would have none of that experience as well due to urban sprawl; getting out into the country may be an English past-time but it has become increasingly hard to actually do.
Pet shops are a no-go, all the pets will either be let out or die without care within a couple of weeks.
      2. If you have one experienced person, he can teach and supervise everyone else and it won't be a problem. And he will also be able to absorb the knowledge from books and increase efficiency further. But without someone like that then trying to learn how to farm from books alone will be a useless endeavor. You at the very minimum will need videos, which won't be available naturally. You will spend a bunch of seasons just learning from silly mistakes, not producing a worthwhile quantity of food.
Same goes for anything involving animals, only worse as they're more demanding, have their own food demands as well, and mistakes will quickly cost them their health and then you'll be left with not even some seeds to try again.
Preserving food is something you can teach yourself in short order though, with some reading material.
      3. Again I agree that the military will never be able to maintain order in the long-run, no matter how large or well-equipped. Society will always collapse whether it takes 1 month or 6 months. But if society holds out for long enough then the government might have time to do something useful; build fortifications, allocate emergency labour towards fishing & agriculture, produce firearms and ammo in defense plants, etc... People will have more time to learn skills and get to grips with the threat before being thrust into a free-for-all.
Furthermore a large military means more weapons and gear to scavenge later on.
In practice, the nuclear powerplants will be shut down in an emergency such as this and the government will quickly introduce rolling blackouts and various restrictions to limit the load on the electric network (gas fired power plants will also run out of gas shortly). There will be various emergency and long-term stocks of fuel that you can use for diesel generators.. not only in petrol stations but around the country - that's something you can rely on later on if you get your hands on a generator. Siphoning out of cars and trucks will be an option too. And with a small generator and rationed use, you should be able to make even a modest amount last a while.

This would have the added benefit of obstructing zombie massing and drifting along the fence. It would also more effectively resist vehicular ramming by desperate visitors.
Also, it’s easy to check, adjust, and repair tension. Granted, the exterior cables would need to be accessed by leaving the secured area. But if your area is continuously mobbed and surrounded like that, it might be time to trigger the evacuation plan.

But would you know, I mean REALLY know if it started? Two times in my life I have thought that something was happening. One time on my way home from work as I passed a cemetery, I saw what looked like a coffin vault tipped over by an open grave and a bunch of stuff spilled. Nobody around and it was dusk. Then I saw a disheveled, elderly man in a raggedy suit lumbering across the grass. It bothered me. I called the police and told them what I saw and actually asked if something was going on. The dispatcher got a kick out of that, but I was more than half serious! The second time was when I was a Fedex driver, and I noticed that there was no traffic as I drove into a small but busy town. I made 3 deliveries and did not see one person in a newer development off the main street. I didn't hear any sounds either. It was extremely unusual. I drove by a grocery store. Cars in lot but no people. Finally, I went down a side road and saw someone walking slowly on the other side of a van in another neighborhood. I pulled to the side and observed. She put something in the van and started driving it. Shortly after that everything went back to normal. I had the heebie jeebies for the rest of the day.

There are some "weeds" that can be eaten if things get tight. Dandelion, broadleaf plantain, clover. Some wild flowers can be eaten like daisies, violets, nasturtiums, and wisteria. If you're careful you can eat young poke weed. The inner bark of birch, beech, and some other trees is edible. The new spring leaves of some trees are edible. Tea made from the fresh needles of some pine trees and the inner bark can keep you from getting scurvy. You can eat the young leaves of maple trees, the inner bark, and the little helicopter seeds. The seeds can be boiled to make something like a sweet syrup or eaten raw. Acorns need a lot of processing though to get rid of the tannins which make them bitter and can make you ill. So acorns are probably not a good emergency food source unless you have the time and water to process them. The sap from a lot of trees can be used as a source of drink if water needs to be conserved or you are desperate, but it won't be like drinking from a fountain. Fruit and nut trees are the best for that, and maple trees.
In the southeastern US there will be gardens and various fruit and nut trees to scavenge from. Pecans, walnuts, hickory nuts, persimmon, blackberry, blueberry in some places, all grow wild. A lot of people have apple, pear, cherry and peach trees in their yards. And many people still do some backyard gardening, if they are zombified or otherwise deceased they won't mind you grabbing some taters or cucumbers.
I've eaten clover, dandelion, nasturtiums, and broadleaf plantains; they all taste kind of similar to me. They are a little bitter but don't taste bad. My great grandmother ate pokeweed, but you have to be very careful and it takes a lot of boiling and processing, I've never tried it it's too risky for me lol.
There are of course fish and turtles to eat too. I was in a bad way once and ate snapping turtles. They grow big, are stupidly easy to catch and taste pretty good. They are disgusting to clean though and smell horrible. And then there are various insects that you can eat.
The food is there if you aren't squeamish, know what to look for and are willing to put in the effort to harvest it.
I think in a survival situation the immediate dangers are from lack of water, injuries and exposure provided you aren't surrounded by zombies or groups of violent marauders. And you have to understand that these are survival foods, they aren't likely to taste amazing but they will keep you from starving to death.
If you would hesitate to eat your pet lab in a desperate situation with a side of dandelions and wash it all down with a cup of boiled and filtered pond water you probably aren't going to make it though.

With fatty meat - learn how to render tallow and use it to make pemmican. It is not hard really. You smoke and dry meat, crush it into small peices, then you put that dried meat "powder" into hot tallow and let it encase the meat.
This makes "bricks" of product that has long shelf life, easy to stack for storage, and when you need it you just plop it into a pot of water, add some vegetables and get a hearty stew. And with lipids from tallow, protein of meat and carb and fibers from vegetables you cover most of your nutritional needs and dodge adverse health effects of unbalanced diet.
You can also eat pemmican as it, but if you do you might want to add dried fruit or berries into it to make it taste better.

I remember Fear The Walking Dead before Rick Grimes woke up in the hospital in the first season of the original AMC series. Yes the first year of a zombie apocalypse will be the one that will catch you off guard the most, due to one reason:
Most people in the world's population now can't-or won't-adapt in a world ruled by the living dead. Because the masses will make stupid decisions on how to survive afterwards.
Which is why the first thing I'd do in a zombie apocalypse is get the hell out of the cities before all hell breaks loose from the animals of the masses that WILL be the first to die for those who chose to stay at their homes that will prove fatal for many on the first year alone.

How to survive a zombie apocalypse : Put on thick jeans with sweatpants underneath. Put on two denim jackets. Duck tape your wrists, ankles and neck area. Most zombies won't be able to bite through that unless they have a good amount of time. The human jaw isn't strong enough to bite through those materials instantaneously even if the zombies don't feel pain. Next step would be to go raid an academy sports for a helmet, football/hockey gear. Motorcycle gear also works. After that, you really don't need to worry about any zombie. You'd only need to worry about letting a horde pile on top of you to the point where you can't get up. This is why every zombie movie is dumb. The military and police have uniforms that can resist the bites of dogs and stop bullets. Most people own clothes that could also stop human bites. Surprise attacks would rarely result in someone getting infected unless it was a large amount of zombies.

I think the hardest part would be transport, we are use to cars and so on assisting us with moving around. For example, 10 kms is not much when you drive but try to walk that with supplies on you. Add rain, wind, sun and any other wealther issue to the mix. That 10 k will feel like 30 or 40 by the end of it.

Also a few things for certain, unlike zombies film where the goverment/military and police wouldn't collapse quickly tho, as they have this planned out with "compound 8888" which its a plan set in motion to prevent a zombie outbreak from happening.
depending on the type of virus and how quickly it speard could effect our chances of survival, if the walking dead type of virus then the police force can easily get rid of the threat ASAP, if it someome far worse then yeah alot of people would die unless we adapt and evolve to survive.
Many homeowners have atleast 1-2 guns inside their home for protection And some have conceal carry for self defense when going out
Despite the possible threat of other people, everyone knows that cooperation is KEY for survival, its not like people are gonna random attack a safe place/settlement without weighing the pros and cons on what will happen, rather it would be best to know what kind of people your dealing and if their actually friendly or not
Leaving your home is not the smartest idea, unless the area gets overrun and you cant stay anymore due to danger and be forced to leave your home and go somewhere else, unless the army/military ie getting people out to safety then its best to go with.

Running out from the city and going to the stores asap is the worst possible idea because that would be every other persons idea as well so it would be a huge mess traffic jams crowded stores etc. the best thing to do is to shelter in your home for a few days untill the magority of the residents left and the zombies spread (less zombie in one place) and only than try to escape somewhere (if possible to a cold place where they freeze)

In a zombie apocalypse, I would probably barricade my home for a couple days before I decide to head to the largest shopping mall closest to me and set up my own base of operations there.
A shopping mall may be a large environment, and there will indeed be zombies roaming around, but I’ll take care of them. By then, I’ll have stocked up on enough weapons from various gun stores along the way. My armory would be kept in the security room, that’s for sure.
I would have plenty of things to keep me occupied. I would have an arcade to play random games, a Barnes & Noble to read random books, and a movie theater to watch any movies, TV shows and anime on a large screen.
However, a few weeks later, I would end up becoming bored, until eventually another survivor finds themselves in my fortress.

3:40 nope. That sterilisation method advice is kinda bad.
Glass bottles can be too reflective of UV light you need for sterilisation. So you might want longer exposure.
Plastic bottles - while more readily available - are even worse in this regard. UV light would break down some plastics and heat from the well lit surface will aid the process. This will make the water filled with microplastics, and when your kidneys try to filter them out to expell them from your body, they might clump together, and you don't want to deal with kidney stones in an apocalypse setting, trust me.
Boiling water for sterilisation is fine. Just make sure you consume water not too long after boiling so bacteria that survived the process did not have time to repopulate and are low in number for your immune system to deal with.
And if you need some water to sip on the go without camping out to boil it - mix in some alcohol. It will keep bacteria at bay for longer. A day for sure.
Where do I get alcohol - you ask? Find some sweet berries - meaning they have hight sugar content. Mush them and let them ferment. The skin of the berries likely already has yeast on it so it will do the job, but adding more yeast if you have it will do the job faster.
Fancy destilation machines are only needed if you want to det high concentration of alcohol, but to have "sip on the go" water you don't want it to be high alcohol content. Getting drunk on the go is not what you want to do in apocalypse setting. Not all the time at least.
Sadly you will still want to distill this fruit wine into purer form of alcohol if you want to use it for medical purposes like cleaning wounds, but if you have a camp, rigging up a moonshine apparatus is doable.

Why do I think I would survive:
-I have plenty of agility and strength thanks to my frequent parkour trainings
-I'm a quick learner when I want to
    -always cautious and untrusting
-quite introverted, so being all by myself likely wouldn't affect me that much
-I don't want to brag, but I know for a fact I'm pretty intelligent
-I always find a way out
    Why I wouldn't survive:
-I have T1D, and without insulin I wouldn't survive for too long. Technically it is possible to make your own insulin, but its quality will likely leave a lot to be desired
-I can be arrogant and overconfident
    -I'm very impatient
    Neutral trait:
-I'm stubborn as heck, which could be good, but at the same time it could get me killed
Ultimately though it's all about the type of zombies we're talking about. Intelligent or dumb? Agile and fast or clumsy and slow? Actually dead or just rabid humans? This is the biggest, most impirtant factor.

Society is at fault becoming too complacent and reliant on technology that will surely fail, paper maps and compass are forever, basic life skills are required and if you don't have that well... Good luck because you'll need it. Plus the top play would be green house + hydroponic growing (I know somewhere within 15 miles that stores small wind turbines and solar panels to power the lights) within 48 hours me and my team will be sailing to a small island close to us (one of which is in merchant navy)

The GPS system would fail quickly as there is a base in the US that adjusts for the time difference between the surface of earth and satellites due to time dilation. GPS would go out of wack by about 10 meters a day until the system failed.
