HOLY SHIT, they played this in the new Pokemon trailer. I have been saying for over a decade that it sounds like a Pokemon route theme, I feel SOOOO validated right now
I’ve never have a concert with senior band due to the pandemic. My seniors used to perform this song on stage and I felt so amazing when I’m just a junior who just silently work under the stage. This song reminds me of the days we practice, go competition together and the happiness and sadness. I feel so miserable right now. I’m gonna graduate without a precious memory with the band lately. I miss those days
Whatever whichever country has, Japan does it better, and adds onto it some more good stuff. That's why modern Japan is one of the best countries in the world imo.
In my hometown, Geldo (Spain), when there is a proclamation about an event, this music plays. After 6 years I finally know the name of this "Final Fantasy vibing" melody. I can finally die peacefully.
@@jonny6738 Yes. It was part of the sight reading portion of the competition. Naturally we didn't play it quite as fast. But I remember it well playing the runs at the end. They laid well. We played it in marching band a couple years later. I take it back. Just listened to it again. We played it at this tempo or very very close.
Ah the magic of James Barnes, a University of Kansas music professor. For all of you who think Kansas is a fly over state, just listen to this and then attend a ball game at Phog Allen Field House.
I played it also and it is very beautiful but it needs a lot of work to play it as wonderful as the Wind Orchestra!! When you come to 7.15 you can hear how difficult it is!!
@@johandebattista6335 if I remember correctly this is not a fun song for trombones as the mostly the same beat for most of the song on repeat. It’s less of skill and being a boring song.
They should've added this soundtrack in the overworld of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, as well would've been perfect instead of hearing the same soundtrack the overworld has right now.
For James Barnes this is a very underwhelming work. Very repetitive and pretty rhythmically stagnant. This piece would be way cooler if it was half the length

Right? I was jamming while watching that trailer
I was like "This sounds familiar!" and couldn't focus on the trailer because I had to dig through my brain for this piece's title
@@DarkAmikari Oh yeah, I literally couldn't focus because I was in such disbelief
Noticed this too 😅
Same! I heard the first few seconds and realized that I had played it last year and was jamming out the whole trailer

Hey at least you will remember this song from band..
The perfect mix of adventurous and emotional, only for it to collapse into chaos for us woodwinds. Who else feels this
James Barnes pieces certainly do that, don't they?
Every time I listen to this I want to cry it sounds so good 😭
The first time we played the ending in class, my band director goes "have fun woodwinds."
DodderyCobra ya!!!!! 2️⃣1️⃣ and 2️⃣2️⃣woodwinds Super fast!!!!!!!!!
Hahaha my director just said the same
Hahaha
i play this wits a harmonie its killin us
@@Jelte09 indeed
I got reminded of this when i watched Pokemon presents on Scarlet and Violet. Goosebumps
Haha this actually is the piece in the trailer
@@KABOOM658 it is! I'm glad someone else recognized it
I am here to check it xd
HOLY I JUST REWATCHED THE TRAILER AND IT IS
Our band director maniacally smiles everytime we play this
The counter melody towards the end was just amazing:)
It is so damn amazing!
Agreed . One of my favorites from band in High School. (played Horn)
Amazing!! Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra is really awesome!
Whatever whichever country has, Japan does it better, and adds onto it some more good stuff. That's why modern Japan is one of the best countries in the world imo.
this overture is like a game music
Brais Paisal It's what i thought
the main lick is in a dragon ball z game
Wild ARMs uses it

Y justo salio en un trailer de Pokémon Escarlata y Púrpura basado en España
This is in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trailer !!!
7:15 woodwinders are just incredible..
Da Sheng Yew agree
Kosei's Euphonium section is perfect, especially in Alvamar.
yea ur right
I love euph
+Quentin Setzer i am oso eupho player , eupho is fun idk why some people hate it
I really don't get why people hate the Euphonium so much, I play it and its just simply wonderful
perfectly I agree.
Yassss!!! Again, one of my fav piece!! Brings back lots of beautiful memories!!! 😍😍😍 NBSS Band 1997-2001
Mine was 1995-1999 in the SMN band, high school band. But so much fun. And if NBSS means what I think it does, thank you for your service.
Euph section really good
i played euph on this last year it was the hardest thing lol
What a Masterpiece, Best Part 7:15 Right Woodwinds? 😁✌
Such a masterpiece

This will forever be my favorite piece of music!
Literally heard this in the new pokemon scarlet and violet trailer in the presentation. I knew I heard the melody from somewhere.
I remember playing this many many years back. I’m glad i was able to play this magnificent piece.
i agree 7:15 onwards is just amazing!
Totally disagree you, you could not be more wrong. Every thing onward of 0:00 is just amazing. :)
damn, that's the 16th note / semiquaver part...
That is hell for woodwinds
We played this last year, so much memories...
Thinking about putting this in my dnd compaing, I just think this would fit perfectly. Discovered it casually and it was immediately love
My HS band was one of the 1st to play this. North Hills in Pittsburgh. We played this in 82 in Montreal as our sightreading piece. Got 49/50.
Joe Heid this as a sight read? 😦
Played it my first year in North Hills marching band 97/98. I think my class chose it for their senior show too, but I was no longer in marching band.

My favorite overture 💙
Typical of James Barnes. Wonderful ! It really sounds like Appalachian Overture!
Me encanta, el año pasado la tocamos en la banda nuestra y está genial. Sencilla de interpretar (algo raro en Barnes) y con alegría.
Ah the magic of James Barnes, a University of Kansas music professor. For all of you who think Kansas is a fly over state, just listen to this and then attend a ball game at Phog Allen Field House.
There is a golf course and street in Lawrence, KS named Alvamar.
Oh yeah this is my state and my alma mater.
Incredibly beautiful!
Totally sounds like Pokemon. Like the ranger game.
I knew I wasn't the only one !!
Hi !
You were right
my school ochestra is playing this piece now. love it so much

hibike euphonium!
Before band I didn’t know what this was but know I can’t stop thinking what everyone looks like in class😂
6:17 is slow then slowly goes fast for woodwinds
I took this song to the first round and got 1st place in the second round. Very goo.
0:20 sounds like pokemon go. xD
Isaías J. Rodriguez Sánchez I agree !
Where it gained inspiration.
totally. :D
Isaías Rodríguez 😂😂😂
Grandia little babies, Grandia... pfft, "Pokemon go" hahaha. Not even a real Pokemon game.
That woodwind part is surely good to listen but really hard to play; especailly for a 16 year old boy who played flute for only a year
Omg! It is one of the painful pieces to play on a trombone😖
The feels... #cries
+symphonicpain
I'm not joking. the first time I played with my orchestra, I almost cry
every time i listen to this i want to cry because the fingering is insanely hard
Nice nice!!
