    You have literally saved my voice with that sucking air thru the first technique. My vocals sound SO MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE AND SAFE all of a sudden when doing inhaling in the same manner as that technique! I've realised how wrong my breath support was all these years trying to sing..... You are a saviour thank you so so much!!!

      “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
      ‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭NIV‬
      ROMANS 10:9-11 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame”
      Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
      “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.””
      ‭‭Luke‬ ‭19:10‬ ‭
      God wants us to believe in His One and Only Son, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, who died for our sins :D When we truly believe in our hearts that Jesus is the Son of God, who died for our sins so we could have eternal life with God, we are saved from the eternal fire and have eternal life in Christ Jesus!! 💖 May God bless you all! 🕊💗

      You’re breathing incorrectly on a normal basis, so you’re light headed when you breathe big deep smooth breaths. Be sure to fill the belly first then up into the whole lung, fill the whole torso up. Reverse when breathing out, control the breath and let it flow out from the tops of the lungs down into the belly
      Edit Jan. 15, 2023:
      Incorrect breathing can look quite a few ways. What I’ve observed mostly is the breath duration (inhale and exhale) is short or one phase is short. One of the main, mechanical reasons for this is the shape of the diaphragm and ribcage. For example, if your ribs flare out and up a bit, and you have a weak back/core, a tight back/core, and/or it’s hard to rotate through your back/core; then your ribs are most likely stuck in some degree of expanding for the INHALE phase. That makes it difficult to contract and draw those ribs down to complete a full EXHALE. Stretch and strengthen that midsection!

    I just want to say that the anatomy lesson here is so so so so so important! I remembered the belly moving out but I couldn't do it easily which I found so strange cause I found it so effortless when I watched this video the first time. But lately my throat feels so strained just from talking that it's really worried me I'm hurting my vocals just by speaking more often than I did growing up. I wanted to get used to using my throat right even just talking, So much so, I was determined not to strain myself tomorrow. I had to track down this video down before I went to sleep. The key to this is pushing down! If I focus it moving down that moves my belly out! So glad I came back to this. In my favorites now. Not loosing this again.

    When I hold my breath to keep the book in its position for 5 sec , I feel tightness in my throat, it felt like air is trying to escape and also my inhales are also not relaxed. It also feels like I am holding the breath in my throat instead of my diaghram

      i was able to fix the tension in the throat while breathing, by trying to physically feel with my hands the muscles in the throat that were tensing up (swallowing muscles).
      place *gently* one of your hands at the top of your throat right under the chin, and swallow a couple times so you can physically feel the muscles moving etc, then try singing a simple note or try to perform a simple breathing exercise, you'll probably feel something becoming harder/tensing up right where the chin and the throat meet. if you can't feel it but still feel tense, move your fingers around (always gently) to look for any tension, as you start and stop singing or exhaling you should feel a difference somewhere in those muscles.
      that difference it's not supposed to be there, BUT we the important part is that we found it!
      Because now that you can feel it and have become more aware of that problem try doing fast exhales, really fast if necessary, fast enough that the throat doesn't tense up.(you can try like doing a fast and quick laugh or a relaxed sigh, you should feel your diaphram physically lifting up. that's great)
      now you've managed to exhale/breath without creating tension in the throat, this means it's all a mental/habit problem! so the key here now is working on slowing down that exhale very gradually while making sure constantly that you're not tensing up, either by body-mind connection or by keeping your hand on the throat to make sure the muscles don't get tense.
      now, it will still feel weird to have a medium/long exhale because the body is not really used to it, but with time it all gets a bit more natural, at least that's what's going on and what has worked for me, hope it was helpful!
      Edit: for non-relaxed inhales I still have to deal with that problem but try to take a break, do something else that's simple, relaxing and distracting, so your body can go back to automatic breathing and then try again. with this stuff it's all matter of conditioning sadly, so metodic work that takes some time, sometimes fighting againts your own body, it can be stressing or demotivating, but once you start seeing results it all gets easier

      I think the point is that you're trying to stretch the diaphragm to breath deep into your stomach through the hand, making it faster, but also making it feel easier when doing it under normal circumstances.

    TY for your great videos -- I just have 2 questions. First, I do not understand the fist exercise. Why would inhaling through the fist make the stomach expand more quickly than the other exercises on the video? Second, and it might be a can of worms, but... I was taught a million years ago that the diaphragm was an involuntary muscle. It keeps us breathing at night, right? So, do we actually have control over what it does? When teachers say "breathe from your diaphragm" is that a shortcut way of saying "take in enough air to fill up your lungs completely"? And if your answer is that you CAN control that muscle, HOW do you "breathe from the diaphragm"? What does it feel like, as opposed to just taking a deep breath? (without raising your shoulders or chest, of course) Looking forward to this answer!! 😃👍

      When you are breathing in pull your stomach out making the diaphragm go down and giving more space for your lungs to take air and do the vice versa while breathing out.

    Don’t we always breathe from our diaphragm though? It’s hard to relate it back to singing because I don’t focus on my diaphragm I focus on hitting the right notes and all.

    • @IGotSoupProductions
      @IGotSoupProductions 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Like any instrument, there are a lot of things to focus on. That's why there are separate exercises. You should be able to start to combine multiple concepts as you improve, so long as you are practicing efficiently.
      Although, anatomically, the explanation is not entirely correct. Passive breathing involves your intercostal (chest) muscles. Breathing while singing (or playing a wind instrument) involves using abdominal muscles and obliques to increase air volume into the lungs and have better voluntary control over breathing.

    • @ascend111

      Yes you always breath with your diaphragm, there false info in the vid, although theres always improvement needed when it come to breath management and stamina in general

    • @Leaferr
      @Leaferr 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Using the diaphragm for singing comes down to discipline aswell, making sure that you're actively using it enough so that it becomes habit and you don't need to think about it as much.

    • @ascend111
      @ascend111 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Leaferr people don't die in their sleep because they didn't use their diaphragm, it's something that functions on it's own. Without the diaphragm you wouldn't even be able to breathe, lungs("chest") and diaphragm work symbiotically

    Hiiii Ronja! I've been watching your videos these past few days and yesterday I posted a comment in the Exhalation video, about how when I inhale-nose or mouth, a lot or a little-I feel my ribcage expanding and all (I even feel the diaphragm engaging though I know that still needs practice) but I still feel this tightness in the chest area, a certain stiffness, if you will, and therefore, shoulders and also throat, a tad. Doing the first exercise and trying different approaches, I feel the tension/tightness if I focus on inflating the stomach a little on the lower area (around navel, if you will), if I focus on inflating the whole stomach (ribcage area included), and expanding ribs to the sides as well??? idk, it's pretty confusing for me, so imagine trying to put it into words, hahahaha, sorry 🤦‍♀️ Maybe being a singgeek you will have a clue as to what the heck I'm trying to explain? hopefully?? Anyway, thank youuu! 🤗
    PS: just noticed that I was slouching a bit, fixed that, does feel a bit better, but not 100% "fixed" 😬

      Hi, Thank for writing I'd love to try and help if I can. When you lay down does your chest rise when you inhale? I recommend that you, when laying down and practicing the breathing, put one hand on your chest and one on your diaphragm. Then focus on only making the hand on the diaphragm move upwards as you inhale. Let me know how it goes :)
