This story relates to a small fishing community of Bani Isra’il, during this time, because of their persistent disobedience and stubbornness, Allah decreed many injunctions against them, one of these injunctions was the observance of the sabbath where they completely prohibited from doing any work, it meant that they were not allowed to fish on Saturdays.

A lesson for those who fear Allah". who is the person concerning the Sabbath?
AL-Baqarah: 2:65 - 66 And you had already known about those who transgressed among you concerning the sabbath, and We said to them, "Be apes, despised And We made it a deterrent punishment for those who were present and those who succeeded [them] and a lesson for those who fear Allah
What does this mean? Do Muslim required to keep the Sabbath? At the end of verse 66 it's makes me surprised. Explain to me a verse 66

Instead there's special day in a week (in Friday) that Muslim gathered, do Jummuah ibadat.
QS Al jumu'ah 62: verses 9 to 11. (Please checked yourself the exact translation in your desired language, I am affraid that there is some details left when I said it in English)
In that ayat, we are command to perform jumu'ah ibadat when the call for prayer come.
Immediately leave your any kind of business and do that ibadat. Once you have done it, we are commanded to go back into our business and dzikrullah (remember to Allah) so you can get your success.
Indeed, Allah is all-giver of sustenance.
And also in hadith Rasul prohibited us to work( and stay awake) all day long, we have to give time for work and give time to sleep.

I am confused and need help, in Islam, is the Sabbath day followed? I didn't think it is and I must know this answer. I am very new to learning about God and do not want to get it wrong. Please help.

Here are some ways to earn deeds after death:
1) Give a copy of the Qur'an to someone. Each time one reads from it you gain.
2) Donate a wheelchair to a hospital. Each time a sick person uses it you gain.
3) Participate in building a masjid.
4) Place a watercooler in a public space.
5) Plant a tree. You gain whenever a person or an animal sits in it's shade or eats from it.
6) And the easiest of all, share this message with people.

We are free to work in any day except jummah prayer time. The Sabbath was only for the children of Israel, the followers of Musa As thousands of years ago

Does believe the way the story is, is that they all could have had in mind, during a sabbath day, the want to be able to have more fish for food. The guy and then group having the net or nets wanted to perform the Sabbath as well which is why he and they left a net and nets on a day which wasn't the sabbath. The day before. The curse if any is that they likely over endulged on the fish and left apes and monkey's and pigs in their fortress to have never returned to be somewhat persecuted for their plan to obey the sabbath yet have more fish for food. Ask me and each group believes in Allah from how the story sounds. No worry that they left cause the other two groups surely has had at that time. What they have had is fish, apes, monkey's and pigs. Cause they left possibly. Doesn't mean their life is better though the first group and other group or the fishing group. It just means each really has no idea at times what happened or is happening with thee other group or groups. Yet knows what's happening with the group or groups that they are with. So judge not. I don't get why it's so wrong what they did. They are not tricking Allah SWT, they are simply working with what is permissible in the Sharia. Just like we all do. You can argue that allowing water to enter a well or allowing crops to grow on the sabbath is a sin. The point of the sabbath is to worship Allah SWT without distraction. If something passively happens in the background, that shouldn't be a problem.
That’s what I’m thinking as well right now. I wonder where this story comes from and the Hadiths authentication. Perhaps we’re missing details. Like they actually set up the nets on Saturday (working for a tiny bit) and took them down at the end of the day (working for a tiny bit) which would mean they broke their laws.
Very good question. At first glance it seems overkill for something so harmless. But the point of observing the Sabbath is to surrender yourself completely to God, and relinquish control from every materialistic work. This is for people to remember that God is in charge of everything, and the world will not suffer if people stopped working for one day. Violating this was pretty much a blasphemous act. However what they did doesn't change the fact that they continued working.
Besides, it must be noted that they were a community who were already drifting away from their religion. If they discovered a workaround for Sabbath, it means that they found loopholes for all of the other commandments as well. It really shows their intention of openly defying god and justifying it. If they at least kept the Sabbath, there would've been enough decency left in them to repent. This is a story about how materialism leads to societal decadence, and in this case, their demise.
Besides, God has a purpose for everything He does. It may seem odd and cruel that He'd forbid a fishing community to deprive them of their profit, but it might not just be about the people. It may be a way of maintaining the natural balance. The overfishing may have resulted in some sort of ecological imbalance, or they could've been contaminated, which is why the fishing community and the "neutral" people (who definitely couldn't resist reaping the benefits) ended up being deformed.
Sabbath was a commandment with multilayered implications. Remembrance of God, complete submission to God, sacrificing every single materialistic act, and giving the natural world a break from human intervention.

Respectfully, I think this analysis is inaccurate. As a Hebrew Israelite from the tribe of Judah. The Jew as a classification of a people is misleading. The tribe of Judah was a Jew. The tribe of Asher was not a Jew. And so forth, and the twelve tribes Jacob became known as a Jew. Then any person that practice pagan Judaism regardless of genealogy was a Jew. The Sabbath changes every year. The first day of Passover is what determines the day the of Sabbath. Birthdays differ every year. If I know the Sabbath begins on sundown Wednesday and ends sundown Thursday. And I prepare a meal before sundown Wednesday for Thursday. That's not a transgression of law of the Sabbath. So how fishing nets set up the day before the Sabbath, considered performing work? Think the issue is; the people trying to decieve Allah and making Sabbath yearly Saturday. With a holier than thou attitude.

Preparing food or catching enough food one of the weekdays days so you have extra for the day which is on sabth is not transgression of the law . The point here is not to work, go to a job that is, whether that is building or fishing etc it doesnt matter but dont work. Its not really about not eating or not making food etc, personal hyigene and health needs to mbe maitained 7 days a week. In this cas god forbade them to fish one day of the week , what is the deeper reason we dont really know. Maybe that would have maitianted the fish ecosystem in a healthy balance , we dont know only god knows.
