Great 👍 👌 to see someone use dielectric grease on big electrical wire connectors a great defense against moisture and heat.
I see a ton of corrosion due to salty moisture as I live in close to the worlds largest sat mine and they dump salt on the roads every year like you wouldn’t believe, the town either gets salt for free or at a discount.. pretty sure it’s free but the point is.. vehicles don’t last long around here, and electrical nightmares are a very common thing
Good explanation,I also have a '12 doing same thing,January ist cold snap took out my 3yr old battery, replaced cranks great no start and currently no codes,so check my TIPM,Michigander here so salt is used heavily here.
That’s exactly how my truck sounds
Thanks for helping me track down this pesky issue, I've replaced pcm module and pdc, relay works, i did all the test you did in the video and i got the car to run but dies when I release button on probe, i can manually ground pin 86 ,i can hear a click and truck will run,if you can help me i would that would be great
My 2013 is Having same problem. Did the same thing to relay truck started. I took my TIPM apart looks brand new and ideas? Also have a bunch of pedal codes. Replaced that also
Have a question? Would that problem make it get no spark and also I had it running for 30-to-45 min after doing some work on it so I hope up on my truck and I kinda
Had my foot against the fuse box and could of hit it hard but it started after that and ran for a bit but the second I put it in drive it died and won’t start anymore but sounds pretty much like the one in the video but I didn’t have that
Code had a bunch of others but it was still running when I cleared it but what u think might be wrong
2011 ram 1500 4.7l. Cold starts are hard like no fuel pressure almost. Fuel pump sounds like it's priming fine. Im thinking about pulling the tipm out to check connections. Is there a way to jump the fuel pump relay if all the pins check out good?
Are all TIPMs equipped with remote start? Previous owner jumped so it cancels out. Want to put in new TIPM but not sure if they are all the same.
Hey great question, I can’t 100% confirm that however if I remember correctly all of them do and the remote start function just needs to be enabled via scan tool. It’s a software enable
@@Tech-28 appreciate the quick response, thanks. Let you know how it goes.
Hello, My truck is doing the same thing. Had corrosion in the same connector. I replaced the TIPM with a used one and it still won’t start. Does the TIPM need to be programmed?
Nope it should start without programming, it is possible there is either a bad wire somewhere or the used TIPM is corroded inside
Thank you, I will try the power probe trick tomorrow to try to narrow it down
@@patrickmcnulty2163 good luck, let me know what you find, I am curious now. Usually the red PCM power wire.. I think there is 2 or 3 of them for the PCM, I would check those first
Damn dodges
@@Tech-28 the tipm units are getting harder and harder to find and not cheap .
@@michaelanthony6785 your telling me man! I’ve been learning how to fix electronic circuit boards a bit to try and acquire the skill set to fix the darn things
My ram only starts with starting fluid, stays on after so I know fuel pump good. 5.7 2012 HELP
What were the symptoms to know u needed a new one
Security light flashing, crank no start, no power to the engine control module
Are u talking about that electric ⚡️ light I have a Chrysler I got that light and my car just shut down ?
Previous owner jumped to the fuel pump power from ACC. Worked great for a while until it got really cold. Every morning i struggled to start the truck.. then it dawned on me that ACC power gets turned off during the starter cranking… on warm days the truck starts instantly before fuel pressure dropped too low. On cold days when it took longer to start the fuel pressure hit zero before it could start. Man i chased that issue for way too long. I’ll be resoldering a new relay this weekend
Update, i confirmed that soldering a new relay and undoing the jumper wire fixed my cold start issue if anyone is wondering
