- I interview Michael, a remarkable expatriate from Sweden, who has dedicated years of his life to making a difference in Thailand. Once a chef with a passion for culinary delights, Michael's life took an unexpected turn when a sick, stray dog wandered into his restaurant, forever altering the course of his journey.
In this exclusive conversation, Michael shares the transformative moment that led him to embark on a new mission: rescuing and providing a haven for Thailand's countless stray dogs. Discover the touching story of how one chance encounter ignited a flame of compassion in Michael's heart, prompting him to establish a dog foundation committed to alleviating the plight of these vulnerable animals.
From his early days as a chef to becoming a guardian angel for Thailand's stray souls, Michael's story is one of selflessness, resilience, and unwavering dedication. Join us as we delve into the challenges he faced, the triumphs he celebrated, and the countless tails of joy and gratitude from the furry friends he's rescued. #thairishtimes #dogfoundation #thailand

This guy is a real hero.
Michael has been a hero of mine for years. Great to hear his story and wishing him good fortune in 2024!
Thanks Pete and Michael. Yep, Michael is doing very good in his work with injured dogs.
Such a cool guy, thank you! My dogs have passed and live in a small apartment. 3 rescue cats 😂
What a legend you are Michael! I really couldn't think of a more noble and fulfilling life than helping stray animals, I really wish you the absolute best of luck and happiness ☘️
That was great. He's an interesting man. Good work, Pete.
Thanks Steve
This is a very interesting man, and I do not sense any pretentiousness in his character. Great interview. Looking forward to you having him back and hearing more. Thanks, Pete.

You're a good interviewer lad. Takes me alot to subscribe, but I have now after watching many of yours.
Thank you for the sub buddy, much appreciated🙏🇮🇪
As I watched this in disbelief, a massive bomb went off in my head at the same time. Not only did I immediately make a donation, I was totally inspired by Michael and his efforts to one day shoot for opening my own shelter in Thailand. I'm a few short years away to retirement--but have already had bouts of anxiety over what the next chapter of my life will look like. I'm not kidding---these helpless animals need us all, and I can't wait to be of service one day. I've spent the last 20 years as a civilian Counseling Psychologist for the U.S. military (the last 13 here in Asia) Headed back to the U.S. for one final "good-bye U.S. tour" before heading to central Thailand and starting a new adventure where I can continue to be of service, this time with a different tribe. Thank You Pete! I would likely never have found this on my own living outside of Thailand. And Blessings to Michael and his committed group of amazing helpers--all doing Gods work. Happy New Year---.
Thank you buddy🙏🙏🙏
Micheal is a dog angel! Thanks for finding him Pete and wishing him well and more donations coming through!! Happy New Year 🎊 🎉

I think so too
Very much enjoyed this interview.
I'm planning to move to Bangsaray this year.
Maybe when I'm set up I can build some of the aids for the dogs missing legs. (The wheels and frames).
I'm having some difficulties finding a house with a garage on the internet.
Maybe when I'm there I'll have more luck.
My Dog and my tools are the most important things I'm moving to Thailand with.
Happy New year from Brisbane Australia.

Brilliant stuff, I would love to meet the mafia😂
So there's been a few fairly popular yr travel Vloggers who've made a fairly recent return to Thailand.
The Digital Nomad Couple Lloyd & Mandy have decided to make BKK their Homebase for the foreseeable future after traveling the World for 2+ years searching for a place to plant themselves.
Then there's Mr. Let's cooool off in the poooool himself William Taudien > he too very recently returned to the Kingdom & has said he plans to hangout for awhile.
Making the triple play is Gabriel Traveler who just returned > not sure however how long he plans to remain in Thailand... don't think he's planning on staying longer than the 1-2 mos Visa on Arrival max.
Of course no surprise those who've been all around the World over the last few years are returning > getting just 1 of the 3 would be fantastic media... maybe You'll be able to get all 3🤞 👍
This man is a saint and true angel for the animals. Thank you for sharing this video Pete.
Good Man Michael i have sent you a donation for your great work best wishes to you and your staff
Well done John 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you sharing Micheal’s life and experiences. I hope to see him on your show again.

Uplifting interview, great dude, Thanks for making this video.
Interview Chris too, yes!
Back in the great depression my grandmother lived on a farm. There was a small bridge that went over a stream. And she would always be pulling out patato sacks full of puppies to save them from drowning because people dumped them like that.
Very enjoyable Pete
Great video Pete........

Nice interview, you should do an interview with sharkie, you would be the 1st
No, please no
Interesting. I grew up in Thailand and graduated from high school there. I think it was around 1968 or so my parents took me and my brother to Pattaya. Wasn't much going on in Pattaya in those days and not much development. My father leased a boat and a skipper to take us out to the reef for snorkeling. Then he took us to Dog Island, a small hilly treed island with a gorgeous C shaped sandy beach. The rest of the island was home to a few hundred dogs and a handful of older Thai women and a some hootches. I don't think those dogs saw or smelled many farangs. The dogs were a bit on the mangy side, not starving, and no bother just staring at us.
There was alot of staring at the crazy farangs in those days 😊.
I wonder if Dog Island still exists?
.😉 Actually I think that island is called Koh Larn nowadays and a tourist destination. 😏
Actually, I just pulled out some old charts. Koh Larn would be to large for the old Dog Island. Probably was Koh Rin....but 🤔
Wow I never heard of it but then again that was the late 60’s. Were the dogs dumped there?
Yes...the dogs must have been transported out there. The island was quite away out from Jomtien beach...maybe 40 minutes to an hour plus out from the mainland.
Amazing Man
New I watch ultra he has nice
I would pay to see 'sugar rock'😂
Sandy here...oh most definitely, loved the interview and we got to learn a few of the Big Dogs secrets 😜
Hi Peter! I really love your channel and learned a lot from your Youtoube! Thank you for interviewing the chef turned hero! Michael is an amazing person with great heart, as I am also dog lovers and I am interested in donating but I live in the states how do I donate with u.s dollars? Please let me know! Thank you 🙏🏻
Hey, you’ll be able to donate US currency by using the link I pinned at the top of this comment section. That’s the link for the foundation’s website
Shame that people don't put the same effort into helping people the same way they help dogs.
That ORANGE Becker Book is....THE BEST. I worked through all of that about 10 years ago. I know of no other better book. The Becker Intermediate Book is also good. But, the Advanced Becker book, IMHO, is a waste. There are better resources when you reach that level of reading. There are also excellent recordings that go with the book. And, also, a dictionary, Word in the Hand, done by the same company. All great resources for reading and speaking Thai.
I believe it’s a great book, i’ve only heard good things
What is that you cook for dogs!?
He cooks dry kibble rice and Always meats, alternating a bit so it doesnt get boring, EVERY SINGLE day, fresh meals
What a heat guy big heart and sexy too 😂
like a movie star 😄
1999 is the year I graduated highschool
Who is his tattoo artist? Planning to be in Bangkok in a few weeks...
He never mentioned bowel movements for paralysed dog
Hi I think you should meetup with Kuhn sunaree ราชสีมา she also loves dogs and rescue a lots of dog and she likes to cook
I was watching a doco about the making of "The Exorcist " and was shocked the filmgoers were, and all the lapsed Catholics running back to mass. Jesus,I thought that's Pete on Thairish and his Tony Huge videos.
To tell the truth, they dump their children often too. If they treat humans like that then there's no hope for dogs there....
Really ..??
@@nikkimclay5474 100% true unfortunately
As a visitor or tourist these stray dogs constitute a genuine health risk. My friend was bitten by a stray and had to have rabies shots. Not a good thing to have to deal with while on holiday.
@@ccrider8483 I guess it's yet another way of greedy Thais getting the Foreigner money😂
Do you extend your compassion to all other non-human animals and live a vegan lifestyle?
Looks like Duke Nukem.
he is an angel
