  • FATE HAS FINALLY ARRIVED!! After putting this build off for WAY too long I finally pulled the trigger on it! My biggest problem was that GOLD! But I did it!
In this video I'll be showing you not only how to 3D Print this awesome helmet, But how to get a beautiful GOLD paint job on cosplay helmets! This was definitely tricky to do but luckily I've already tested this gold paint before a long time ago in a far away land.
Many methods I show in the video can be applied to a variety of different projects so I hope you learn something new!
    Enjoy!

I've used alclad aqua gloss over molotow chrome and montana gold chrome to great effect. If you give it 3 or so days to fully cure before clear coating and build it slow it works really nicely and keeps the mirror finish. Love the videos!

Theres many methods and it’s mostly what works best for whoever is building it
For me Montana gold works best as I’m from the uk and don’t have room or money for an air compressor

I'm more of a fan of no gold tint on the eyes because of a preference for comic/film accuracy, BUT the gold tinted eyes still looks absolutely amazing. Good job on the build, love the work.

Can i suggest using a 2k automotive clear over the gold. I think maybe it would look more true to the gold you wanted. Also it’s going to be pretty hard just like a car paint job. and you can even polish and ceramic coat it

The Helmet came out really nice. Use a calligraphy cap with the Montana can, you get a much better finish. Have you tried liquitex gloss varnish, through an airbrush. It doesn't harm the finish and you can rattle can clear on top of the Liquitex varnish.

Just curious, have you tried sanding and polishing with an automotive grade polishing system (I know you mentioned polishing with the Iron Man helm on the clear coat)? Might be worth a shot to get rid of some orange peel in the gloss black base stage (I just don't know if the gold would stick at that point?). Helmet came out amazing though!!!
What printer would you recommend between FLSun SR, Sovol SV03, Sovol SV06 (smaller need more prints but comes with an all metal hotend)? I want to use it to print useful stuff for around the house but also for getting into cosplay stuff like you do. Any advice would be appreciated!!! :) Thanks for everything you dooooo

Hi, just saw this video, thanks alot, for I am thinking of doing a Doctor FAte cosplay.
I was thinking of using gold leaf for it. What would be your thoughts on that.
The gold you used does look very nice, but I think gold leaf would really take the gold look to an other level.

There 2k Clear coats that come in a rattle can. The downside is they use a catalyzer so once the can is activated you only have about 48 hrs to use the whole can. So it can get pricey for small props.

I'm making a Titanfall pilot helmet and the visor is a bit more complex and larger so LED eyes like the one shown in the video aren't an option. The ones in Titanfall are white and turn blue when powered on. How do you think I can implement that in my helmet?
