I noticed Eastern European animation has this thing where even very quick and bouncy movements are very smooth, and it all feels oddly floaty. Not to say it's bad, I grew up on it, and it's just mesmerising to watch. A lot of it seems to be rotoscoped, and the amount of detail in the painted environments, character designs, and the occasional kaleidoscope-like visual effect dancing across the screen, it all just contributes to such a dreamy feeling.
The Snow Queen is my favorite tale ever. The way she was described in the story made her such a terrifying yet alluring character and I’m glad there are works out there which have the original story the respect it’s due.

I hate to come back to this video with a third comment. But I gotta give this song my thoughts. This song is absolutely beautiful and geniusly put together. It's a mix of happy and nastolgia mixed that somehow puts off a depressing vibe that makes you feel sad. I'm not saying that's bad. The opposite it's genius. A song that gives off a sad vibe if very unusual. Pogo is a master artist.
years ago, i remember visiting six flags during the winter, and they were playing this incredibly eerie animated movie. until i watched this video, the only thing i remembered was that it was a snowy movie and it contained a scene of a girl riding a reindeer. It's a sad state if affairs, but creativity is often shackled by whether or not it's profitable. And oftentimes, those who decide what is and isn't profitable are often those that wouldn't know a quality work of art if it kicked them in the pants. One of my favorite cartoon creators ever pitched a bunch of ideas to Netflix and all but one of them were rejected. A part of my dream is to create so many sources of passive income that I can finance my own creative endeavors and any creative endeavors that catch my fancy. But for someone with no credentials and very little personal finances, it's gonna be a long road ahead, and then there's the fact that I've got a lot figure out about my own voice and process.

I'm glad the crazy great animation is getting recognition, and understand that this a synposis of the story from POV.......but BUT, I am sad the *best* peices of animation are not in this compilation. Those being... 1- The Snow Queen waving her hand out and toward the camera. The specific clip is closer then the one shown. 2- (my personal fav) When girl (I think)is walking past the chunks of ice and we see the ripple of her past them. This is Anderson. Almost all of his stories are very sad and disturbing. For example, there is a story about a little elf who lived in a rose bush. The girl's evil brother killed her lover and buried him in the garden. The little elf witnessed the murder and told the girl about it. The girl dug up the groom's body and took his head. She dipped her head into the flower pot and planted the jasmine in it. Later, the girl died of grief, and her brother took the flower pot. And at night he was killed by the spirit of the flower.
Well put together 👌🏼👏🏼 never seen this film but I do know pogo and this track that became widely known; all together just gave me chills and sympathy for the young boy in the film. 🥺

Even though the original story doesn't give much details on her backstory, there is more to every story than the things you can read about it. In real life people become emotionless mostly when they've been hurt badly, sometimes because they went through traumatic experiences, that is the notion giving the idea of the "broken heart" theory. I'm not trying to justify her, just trying to give some free and deeper analysis and interpretation of the story. Expecially because in the original story she wasn't the one who cursed Kai in the first place: the magic mirror shown in the movie and shattered by the Snow Queen was originally property of an evil troll who wanted to turn the good hearted people into malicious ones, and unintentionally ended up breaking it by attempting to pursue his objective, so the mirror's shards were scattered by the wind all over the world until two of them pierced Kai's heart and eye. Then the Snow Queen took the unexpected chance to enchant Kai and persuade him to stay in her ice castle, which leads to the "parenting theory" ; expecially because she didn't actually treat Kai as a prisoner: she compliments him, she listens to him, she educates him, I mean, it's not exactly a common way to interact with someone you've kidnapped. In the movie the plot revolves around her taking her revenge on a kid just for a joke, while in the book the plot revolves around her basically finding a random boy affected by a curse that made him spiteful and full of hatred, and with a kiss casted a spell on him to make him cold and unable to feel emotions (honestly I see it more like an act of freedom than a curse, I personally would prefer feel nothing than feeling nothing but rage and hatred)
Each time I see the snow queen from this film it reminds me of white diamond. And plus my guess from reading these comments I ain’t the first one to think of that anyways.. Edit: I forgot to say that the film is just beautiful especially the snow queen.
Frozen was originally inspired by this tale, tho it differs so much from the original Snow Queen story at the point to be incomparable from each other. I enjoyed both movies in different ways and for different reasons. Nonetheless, the original Snow Queen story holds the essence and the magic of a classic enchanting fairy tale, and it's tough to emulate it or replicate ❄️💙❄️
i play a game called cookie run, and last Christmas it had an event that had a story of two children and one got tacken by a ice queen. even happened only 3 weeks if me playing the game, now still playing the game and Christmas bouta happen again. wonder what the devs got instore this year. anyways i got so many vibes of this movie from the event, i deffo reccomend watching the story if the game on youtube search up: cookie run, lantern in the snow full story. it made me cry

She was NOT rotoscoped, in fact during production director though rotoscopy was overused, so the animation comes from the mind and pen of animators.

I mean the cold can actually reduce smells. Not fully sure why. I think its a mixture of how our noses react to the cold, constricted blood vessels, and because molecules move slower when it's cold.
