Have 2021 RG got a 12” Klock Werks dark smoke Pro-Touring model and it works perfect. Can’t believe the difference from the stock windshield. I’m 6’ and the wind clears the top of my helmet. I can now clearly hear my Sena half helmet music and phone communication. My line of sight it about 2” over the shield, perfect for my particular ride position. Made my whole riding experience 100 percent better with this new shield.
Jack, are you sitting on the stock seat or have you replaced that? I appreciate your input about the riding height. I sit about where I'd imagine Bob positioned. I'm also 6' 2"-ish. Depending on my day and my boots, I could sit at 6' 3". So, visibility with the 12" PT should not be an issue. Thanks brother!
I just started using the 12” Pro Tour Tinted and love it. It works perfect for me as I’m 5’9” so I am not experiencing any buffeting. The only wind I feel is coming up from underneath the fairing on my 2021 Road Glide Special.
I played with so many windshields on the Vic, including Klock Werks and none of them did the job. Until I discovered the Madstad adjustable windshield system. I was able to go with a small 9" smoked shield that does an excellent job in most all riding situations that's barely in my field of vision at a 1/4" from full down. If I do that rare thing of a long highway ride I can raise the the shield, to give me a better bubble.
It’s all about the proper size. They are great about helping you with that. When I ordered mine they told me that it’s going to come with a film on it. Don’t take the film off. Install on the bike and ride it around and see how it works for you. If it’s good then great, if not pack it up and send it back and we’ll get a bigger or smaller one out to you. That’s what I did.
I have the 14" on my Road Master and it works perfect!! I put it down to the lowest position around town and in the twistys and raise it up until the air goes over me on the road. I have ability to raise the windshield 5" which is great!
Love my dark smoked 19 on my Road King. I get just enough wind to stay cool. A tad bit of buffering but I think it’s nearly impossible to eliminate. What I loved most was how planted the front tire is. Brian’s ingenious design helps add down force to the front end and my Road King handles that much better. He told me I would notice a difference and I’m thinking (sure buddy 👌. I nearly called him after my first ride. I won’t run anything but Clockwerks on any of my bikes. 👍
I totally agree with that Mike and you really don’t know it until you have the windshield on your bike, it is a big difference. Brian and the whole team there are good people
I have a 2020 Road Glide Limited and put the 12" Dark Smoke Klock Werks wind screen on my bike and love it riding almost anywhere in Florida. However, I took it up a fairly steep hill in the dark in Michigan. For a short time I was blind looking straight through the Dark Smoke wind screen. If I had it to do over I would have chosen the light tinted version. Other than that, the Dark Smoke is perfect.
I installed the 14" Klock Werks Sports Flair windshield on my 2015 Road Glide. When I had the stock seat and stock suspension on my bike the Klock Werks windshield was perfect. It sent the wind about 1" over the top of my helmet at hwy speeds with no buffeting. However when I upgraded to a new Mustang seat and added Legend rear shocks, the combination of the two raised me up approximately 3" higher. I then began to experience buffeting on my helmet. Since Klock Werks does not make a windshield taller than 14" in the Sports Flair series, I had to replace it with a 15" Freedom Shield. I'm an average 5'10" tall. I find it hard to believe that I'm the only one thats experiencing this problem with Klock Werks after the suspension and seat upgrades.
@@BoDean52 Thanks for your reply. To be honest I just ordered the Freedom Shield 15" dark tint Sports Touring windshield. Apparently these windshields are made to order which at this time will take 4 weeks to arrive. So I haven't had the opportunity to give it a try. However, unlike the other four major windshield suppliers, Freedom Shields offers several different heights. Over the past several months I've been playing musical windshields on my 2015 RGS. It's been extremely frustrating trying to find the correct windshield for my height, 5'10" tall. As I stayed before, by upgrading my stock seat to a Mustang and a set of Legends Evo-A shock absorbers, it rised me up 3" higher in my seat than with the stock setup. The first windshield I ordered was a Klock Werks 14" Sports Flare. I actually watched your video and made the decision to purchase one. It was perfect with the stock seat and shocks. However, following the upgrades mentioned, the wind was hitting my forehead and causes helmet buffeting. I then tried a Memphis Shades 10-in dark smoke, (the tallest windshield they offer). Because their windshield leans back so aggressively, (even further than the Klock Werks), it also caused buffeting to the top of my helmet. When I contacted Memphis Shades customer support about the issue, they were cold and arrogant. I then ordered the Long Ride Shield 14" dark tint Stingray Series. (Also the tallest windshield they offer). This windshield was very thick and the quality was exceptional. The posture of this windshield stand up much more vertical than the other two that I mentioned. But for some reason I still receive wind buffeting 1" down from the top of my helmet. I also didn't care for the elongated mounting screw slots. It looked very unfinished when mounted to the bike. Therefore, I finally decided to try the Freedom Shield 15" dark tint Sports Touring windshield. The main reason is because I really liked the angle of the windshield as it mirrors that of the fairing. Plus they offer several different sizes in 1-in increments up to 18". I truly wish I could give you the five different windshields that I've collected so you can do a comparison video on your awesome TH-cam channel. I'll give you an update on the new Freedom Shield once it arrives. Thanks again
Im 5'10 and have the 12 pro touring on a rg special, stock seat, with a 32 inseam i can see over it clear as day and actually still get a fair amount of wind hitting the top of my helemt at 70+ mph, i might try the 15"
Nice video. At my local Harley dealer, they have a bunch of windshields that you can sign out and demo on your bike. I been wanting to get back over there and try out the Klock Works. So, that could be an option for some of you, if your dealer offers that.
i tried many windshields, and most are all the same. i have also have come to the conclusion that a lighter tint is better than blacked out, and that the correct measurement is about the level of your lips/just below nose
I agree on the measurement for sure Dave, so important. I am going to try a little taller tinted one which I believe is going to be the answer. Ride safe
Looking good BoDean… ✌️ I always liked Klock Werks windshields and got the same one you installed and then noticed I had a problem with my 12” apes when turning full lock. So I had to get rid of it and got the other one which didn’t have the curve on the side, forgot the name. But yes, Klock Werks products are amazing. I have also tried other brands, but always settled for Klock Werks.
@@BoDean52 currently I now have the factory 47 signature bars and on my previous RG I had the KST. Anything 12" and up will touch the windsheilds that flare back. The other solution was to bring back the bars towards me more which I didn't want, so I ended up going for a shorter windsheild.
Hey there, So which one did you prefer due to your size. I am 6'2 and thinking I need the 14inch pro but I like the way the sports flare looks best. Thanks Manny
Hey Manny, I was the same way but the Pro works better for me even though I like the flare look. Careful with getting the dark one…..can be tough on hills that force you to look through. Love their windshields
Great review!...would like to change out the stock windscreen on my Ultra Limited!....maybe 1 day!😉👍...thanks for sharing...stay safe...ride safe!😎👍🤙👍🤙🇨🇦
I like my windshield bags and I do not think they will work with another type of windshield. I have a shorty on my Street Glide and would like something to cut down on the wind that I get. Either a Wind Splitter or a Klock Werks. I will go for a clear one.
I hate the Grampa look windshields, this one the clear on you had one, looks okay. I have never used Klockwerks windshield, I love the flat top HD windsplitter look myself, however will not work with RG. I am right now enjoying the stock windshield on my RG Special so far it works. But who knows what the future holds, I do like the way the round top on this one you have looks on the RG
To me they are totally worth it, their site and some of the links to the windshields I showed you are in the description of the video. Good luck on that and ride safe
Bo, Do you now use the 14" Sport Flare or the 12" Pro Tour? I couldn't tell what you finally decided based on your more recent videos. I'm buying a 2016 Road Glide Ultra, and I'm planning to change the windshield right away.
Hi Dave, I kept on the 12" Pro Tour in tinted. If I recall, it actually sits about the same height and seemed better though they are both good. I will say that the dark smoke was awesome looking but if you ride any hills that makes you look lower as you come up over them, it is an issue. Good luck and let me know what you choose. Congrats on the Ultra!
Bob, I followed with that query simply because I remembered a comment that you made about the Pro Tour saying that you were definitely getting or feeling buffeting with that model whereas the 14" Sport Flare seemed to not have that issue. I see on Klock Werks site that the 12" Pro Tour is about .25" higher than the 14" Sport Flare, but I thought you were making a point that the PT in spite of it's slight height advantage did not provide the same level of protection as the 14 SF. FYI, I pick up my bike this week!
Same as I look over the top. I have though found that sometimes coming up over a hill I have to look through. Love the windshield but sometimes am concerned with that. This weekend I am taking a trip on some technical and hilly roads so will probably switch it out for this ride.
Let me know how it goes, I ended up getting a 15" Pro Touring sent to me and from a wind perspective it is perfect and I am 6.3 with Mustang seat. I will probably use that for touring and the dark smoke for all other times. Good luck!
I have a Clearview Medium recurve windshield on my 2021 Road Glide Limited and find that it does not sit against the rubber seal properly around the vent. How does the Klock Werks fit against the seal?
