This is something I've been figuring out for a while, from the Steam Deck to the PSP and PS Vita, to the GPD Win 4 and my newest OYN Odin 2 Mini. What am I looking for in a portable gaming device?

If they didn't screwed up the ps vita pricing and timing. It could be a massive success
Nah what failed the vita was lack of games and proprietary memory card
@@AkaHoodie and also the other reasons mentioned... Sony did a big L with it
Nah just a memory card
Bro I couldn't find any good games on that thing
@@AkaHoodie The memory card 100% killed the console before it even launched.
I had a PSP 3000 (never had a Vita) it was quite popular in India in the early 2000s, the high price of Vita really killed the potential. I really miss my PSP sometimes :(
Same bro I miss it too
it was crazy cuz in Pakistan the xbox 360 bundled with gta 5 was the same price as a ps vita with an sd card. as someone who loved his psp street, the vita just wasnt a sound choice. sony really axed themselves in the leg with the vita pricing
I'm a Vita User I'll definitely enjoy watching this video
This type of content is refreshing to see. Great to see you branching out to different stuff!
NFS Most Wanted 2012 on PS VITA shows just how talented Criterion Games is at making games, they were able to bring the PS3 version of NFS Most Wanted 2012 to the PS VITA which surprised me.
Solution: Get bigger pockets
But jokes aside, yeah that's one of the reason's why I've held off on the Steam Deck for so long even though some of my friends I know already have one, just don't see myself carrying that thing around a lot of the time. Definitely a device you just keep in your backpack then take it out when you're in the car or at the destination type of thing.
Having a steam deck this is exactly what I do unless I’m at home
I remember getting MW2012 and Black Ops Declassified
Bro live for racing games, the passion man.
I like videos like this, like generally gaming related and not just about cars and racing games.
It's rare to see people taking large devices like Steam Deck or Ally out. Even at home, they still need a TABLE. Small devices are truly "handheld".
A jailbroken ps vita will change your mind being able to play ps1,GBA,psvita,Nintendo,PSP and even going back to Atari games but that’s not it you can basically emulate any console you want older than the ps vita
Even PS3 games?
cant do a lot of consoles :
-Ps2 ,ps3 , gamecube , wii , wiiu ,xbox , 360 etc...
forget anything, we need to talk about the Tokyo Xtreme Racer gameplay video that dropped today
BlackPanthaa x RetroGameCorps collab when?
This guy gets it i had same joy with this device.I absolutely agree the odin 2 mini is awesome its the closest thing to the xperia play back in day. It fits in pocket plays up to nintendo switch. You can play some pc games via modded winlators too although that side of it is a headache. The android experience is so good tho you can run back to back a switch game and a ps2 game switch around in seconds.
There have been a bunch of these portable consoles to come out over the last few years. Although they're a little bit ethically dubious, the hardware itself is particularly impressive for the price you pay for it. I think the Nintendo Switch (rather than the PS Vita) was a big influence as to why so many of them have spawned in recent years. Whether it's the ability to build your own game library or run custom firmware, their open-source nature makes them a really interesting platform to experiment with.
Also got to shout out the Retroid Pocket 5, aka budget Odin 2 OLED. I can play GT2 A-Spec, GT3, 4 and Spec II on the go and at a more manageable price. I can even remote play GT7 from anywhere so that's a bonus.
AYN Odin 2 mini all the way! that should be recommended.
I'm so glad you mentioned the analogue sticks, to be honest if the gpdwin4 had horizontal inline analogue sticks like the Vita I would probably already own one. But I don't...
Damn Theo u went all the way to Paddington station just for the vid? Respect!
Hahaha no I was traveling
@@BlackPanthaa Fair enough. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you too!!
They should relaunch the Vita with todays handheld specs! Imagine how cool that would be... oh and a bigger screen too!
No way you know Jak games, now I love you even more
ngl I think a huge point for the psp was that you could put it into your pocket and that'd be it
Dude, you made a video on something I've been experiencing as well. I carry my Vita everywhere still and while ive played on my brothers Oled Steamdeck and its quite nice. I would never feel comfortable taking it with me like the Vita. I think ill look into the devices you showed cause I already play so many PS2 games on my laptop.
Love to see this type of content! Recently caught on same thoughts to get either emulator on my phone for PS1 and PS2 games or handheld for exactly same, and this video is perfectly translates my thought process
Merry Christmas Theo!!
Damn, Panthaa making a video gaming handhelds and brings up the PS Vita?
C'mon, I just got a PS Vita few months ago. xd
I've been looking at a Retroid Pocket 5 recently - it's not quite as powerful as the Odin 2 but it's still more than enough to upscale anything you throw at it other than switch, and it has an OLED screen and has the sticks on the bottom, which I prefer for handhelds.
Yeah I had that on my list too but in the end went with the Odin
You could bring Switch and Steam Deck together, you could play "Home" game on your steam deck when you're like in a hotel or long distance journey and stuff and you can play switch for more chill game, like lego games where you can play for like 10-30 min waiting for something and then lock in and get going
If valve will make a smaller version of the deck when they eventually cook up the steamdeck 2
I'm buying it instantly no questions asked
The deck LCD is so good
One of the best purchases I've made
I have a PS Vita For many Years Now, Man what a Good Console!
Merry Christmas theo enjoy your holiday 🎉
Merry Christmas!!
Just let me know in the comments that I can teach you to be the best Fortnite player ever like me and I send you a friend request on Xbox
And also can I be apart of your Fortnite videos please
u make really good review type of videos. sometimes review stuffs u like , phones , laptops etc. once in a while
Thanks mate!
Valve is apparently rumoured to be working on x86 to ARM translation for Linux, so there's a solid chance the Steam Deck 2 could run on an ARM SoC.
I mean Wine is already there for years (by valve) and it getting better and better
ooo good to see burnout 3 in there looks BUTTERY!
i have an ROG Ally Z1E and i usually take it with me when visiting my grandma 700Km away, plug it up to a TV and use it as a PC. Also use it on longer train rides where i have a backpack with me lol
convoluted - nice word
Vita might lowkey be the most put together handheld
I would like to see Sony make a PS2 Classic handheld which we can also play PSP and Vita games on
honestly a good phone with a slim controller addon would do the same. Also, if you really have 5minutes on the train, you're gonna spend most of it getting on and getting off... Just enjoy the little view, so you don't miss your stop..
Underground trains hardly have a view, I don't want to kill my phone in case I need it
Very cool video black panthaa
Really love my modded vita. But, you have convinced me to grab an ayn odin 2 also. Need to fill that ps2+ emulation/portability void!
Can't wait for steam deck mini
I'm honestly glad you mad this video Theo vie been thinking about getting a handheld device in the near future but I'm not really sure i would like a steam deck unless i am traveling away from home and there is time i still play my 3ds just because. But thank you for share your thoughts/input on the handhelds because i too think i would rather play retro games myself when I'm on vacation you know.
Merry Christmas pants
Spent alot of time playing most wanted 2012 on the vita so much fun
My most played PSP game is Gran Turismo
i had my gpd win 4 black colour for very long time, bought it second hand, previous owner had it for long time before i purchase it but now the battery already bloated need to replace, play it mostly every day, games that been playing, ea fc pro club/forza horizon 5….
cool device and i use to have psvita and shoutout to the parlm tree on your head
The best thing I bought this year ! that I always wanted is the Steam Deck , and I bought the 1to Oled version one , man ! I'm playing Dirt 3 on it on a booted Windows 10 on it ! working super amazing , I'm installing NFS Payback as I write you this now , retro aspect of it is immersive ! but man , the future is bright if they make another one , powerful one ! also the Ps Vita is my favorite handheld ps console .. I play GTA 5 without any issue , online and single player on my booted w10 on it , also RDR1 & 2 , FIFA 24/25 lags sometimes , but as a fifa player i prefer playing on my main pc ..
P.s : I even make music on my steam deck XDD using an interface audio and my guitar haha
I do have the PSP and not PS Vita way back then when it came out, but it has a screen problem for sure and it was volatile
Theo learnt the word "convoluted"
Nah, what really killed the ps Vita was the inexistence of an exclusive GOW game (like gow 1-2 for the ps2; god of Sparta and chains of Olympus for the psp; gow 3 and ascension for the ps3 etc
Please can someone remind of the name of the game at 8:08
Burnout 3 on an emulator
@ thank you man i was looking for this game for so long
I carry a phone with telescopic controller but yeah i cannot put them both in same pocket.
Retroid pocket is a dream device but, not available in India :(
The ps vita was ahead of its time
I had the big Vita. Great system, had alot of potential, but Sony threw it under the bus and it could've been so much more. It just didn't have enough titles in my taste so I ended up selling it. And kept my PSP.
amazing man!
I would love to see another Playstation portable console. But I would love it to have a little bit bigger screen compared to the Vita. I wouldn't mind something with the screen size similar to my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. ✌️❤️
back in the old times...
No Christmas special this year ?
Yep tomorrow
damn what a timing, i just got my vita recently lmao
That win almost got me
But I ended up getting the rog ally
I loved my PSP, never had a VITA , why did it flop?
Can't wait for the GTA Christmas special
I can emulate PS2 and GameCube on my Nothing Phone 2. Ive been olaying most wanted 2005 and midnight club 3 remix the ps2 version as well. Its pretty solid. I use my DS4 controller. Takes a bit of setting up to get the rumble working on dolphin but on athersx2 it recognises it straight away.
how are you playing nfs most wanted on handheld I'm trying to play on my Gaming PC
Man I just want a new PSP/ Vita 2 from Sony that can run PS4 games.
PSP will ALWAYS be the best handheld for me. I never had a jailbreak vita where I can just download ROM from online, and limiting to only games I purchased and a not-so-comfortable holding position, Vita is way worse than the PSP.
Why don't you choose the phone, it is more economical than all of this, and buy an additional controller with it, and thus the experience will be very satisfactory, and there are many emulators on the phone, and yes we want a video of this
Hey pants man I would love to see a full play though of burnout legends because I love the game aswell all of the other burnouts series but please can I have a play though of burnout legends and marry Christmas
Guys I need a little help.
Since there is a huge sale going on for all the NFS games on steam, I am about to buy my 4 most favourite NFS games after MW and carbon.
Which are: HP remastered, Rivals, Heat and unbound.
Basically I need help with the in-game content. So is it worthy and absolutely necessary to buy DLC of these games?
HP remaster doesn't seem to have any, but what about others?
And my most concerning question would be, are all the M3 GTRs in unbound are included in base game or they are available only in DLC?
Thanks in advance if you decide to help me!
Also Merry Christmas 🎅🏻
it starts close to 900$ for anyone wondering
12:13 i ain't know pants played tony hawks american wasteland
Ps vita is iconic
I use to have the og psp it was hella cool, though for me i had more movies than games i had Silent Hill origins Dexter and one of the god of wars i know psp had two of them
Holy fuck wait if Valve really does decide on publishing Steam OS the gpd might actually be the best alternative to the steam deck
Would definitely better to run that than W11 at least
Im still waiting and hoping someone will port nfs mw 2005 on ps vita..💔
Most Wanted is great on Vita !
Great arguments but certain markets the handheld devices are not worth it as be cheaper buy a Xbox series X with extra controller and more storage compared to a steam deck price here in south Africa
Still don't know why Sony discontinued the portable but now they want to make a PS5 handheld version
They should do portable that run all PS5 games, i do support that.
@lucasrem and keep the 9ld ones too than they can *shut up and take my money*
Please playstation do another ps vita 2 or psp
Sony really fumbled the potential of the vita/handhelds in general, they were at the forefront of handhelds and just dropped it, and then came out with their awful handheld recently
You should mod that psp
Asus ROG Ally / X
MSI Claw
Lenovo Legion
Don't bother with PS stuff, dont limit Yourself.
Steam Deck is not as good.
Or also get a Android phone and emulate the consoles, that's what i did
Still a bit too big for me!
@@VictorBRz nah, i prefer a dedicated android handheld. Pre-ordered the Odin 2 portal.
@@shalindelta7 i understand, not a bad option too
steamdeck for gaming on bed or on vacation, cheap small chinese android handheld for daily commute.
You are a pokemon guys too. 😊
nintendo should sell handheld that plays all old games
I want whan ever comes to make nfs unbound on the go
Msi claw 1a
hi need for speed heat please can you live race discovery.
Crazy
cool
Is this all an ad or am i tripping
How is it an ad?
Bro is giving the pros and cons so it seems like more a review than an ad.
All this screams I need a better android phone 😂😂😂😂
I don't want to game on my phone
Let's just be straight up honest. The Portal SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. That's just the way it is. I wholeheartedly agree with you Theo on the PSP and Vita. They were fantastic and the Vita would be even more of a success than it is right now if Sony hadn't screwed up. Not sure how I feel about the Steam Deck though. Yes it looks WAY better than the Portal (again let's be honest), but I don't know. Yes you can ACTUALLY take it with you, but you still need an Internet connection to use it, like you do with the Portal. And for me, and I'm sorry to say this,, but physical media will ALWAYS be king. That's just how it is. Yes you can get into arguments about 'oh you don't own what you buy on physical media' and 'oh but you still have to download patches and updates' but at least you OWN the disc. Digital you own nothing, no matter where you buy it from. Even Steam to an extent.
Steam deck performance sucks
Ooooooo
First will edit
First
I'm so early tf
You need xreal vr glasses while you travelling.
I need my gaming laptop, in trains that is the best, separate controller.
never on a bus.
