Love my cats not a mountain rider because of where i live in upstate NY. We have mountains but lots of trees very tight and don’t always have deep snow. love riding powder when i get the chance though. Been to Idaho and Montana few times many years ago loved it. Anyway if i was to buy a cat for mountain riding wouldn’t be a alfa skid. Seams week see lots of issues with them. Id buy a riot do a track swap if i had to. My father has a new ZR 600 catalyst its been great no issues except for some clutching. Wasn’t happy with the factory clutching haven’t been happy with cats clutching since my 2015 ZR6000r XC. Had 3 ZR 6000r XC’s 15,16 and 17 clutching got worse every year no top end. Not good when racing XC top end can give u the win in many races. Other than that iv had great luck with cats racing and trail riding. Anyway great video man wish we had snow like that. Our winter sucked here this season again wasn’t great last season idk. Have you guys considered or ran trenchers or Alternative Impact A-Arms? They sacrificial ball joints that break instead of the whole thing snapping. But now it’s just a little ball joint to replace vs the whole upper or lower.
I literally totaled 2 sleds in 4 days the beginning of the season and just stopped riding sleds for the year…. I mentally cannot deal with another broken machine on the mountain for the year 😂😂
I know these sleds get used extremely hard but the amount they break in one way or another is kinda sad. Especially for the price tags on these sleds now. If they aren’t going to improve reliability they need to bring the price down. Granted there will always be wear and tear on these sleds but for what you have to pay for a new sled nowadays we deserve better
Nothing you can do about hitting stumps though, for A arm. That's just bad luck. As far as Cat's Alfa 1 skid, it has not been reliable in the past, they were supposed to beef it up for the new Chassis. I think its a stupid design, it will just wash out in low snow conditions when side hilling. My friend owns an Alfa and he says it is also terrible on rough trails, the sleds is just all over the place he said. I think the new cat will be a great sled if they go back to a conventional 2 rail Skid.
I have an m8000 alpha and a 9r and a 16’ summit. The alpha is the best mountain chassis of the three. I’ve broke rails on the 9r twice. I’ve broke rails on twin rail sleds multiple times over the past 35 years. I’ve broke a LOT of stuff over the years. Only times it wasn’t my fault was the old 900 dragon motors…. They just plain blew up.😂
My gauge does that too. If you go to the screen that shows all the satellites you’re connected to it usually will start working….its in the setting somewhere
