When he said blown engine, that means any 986, 996, 987, and 997 with a for sale listing that includes "runs but making a tapping sound" or "Coolant leaking into oil. Needs headgasket". Both of those issues means the engine is blown. The tapping sound is bore scoring and the Coolant mixing is a cracked cylinder sleeve. Both very common issues now. Nick! You are the man! This is true engineering and fabrication at its finest. I cannot wait to be able to purchase the kit and swap this into my IMS dead 997. Keep up the amazing work!
Development rate should increase during the winter. The electronics package is near identical between the two also, so that we basically be "done" and ready really soon.
😎sick !!!!! Nice update!! I like the updated manifold, the top mount wastegate would make exhaust routing straighter, the 996 also has a rubber coolant hose where your filter is close to the metal pipe, changing the hose could possibly give more room for a filter and shroud, that intake plenum is beautiful as well !!! Love the idea of keeping a Bosch throttle body. An install video, would greatly appreciated as well 👍👍👍
The issue with the 996 is that there's many different configurations, with the main limiting factor being drive-by-wire vs. cable throttle. That being said, the DBW (later year) 996's wouldn't be too hard to support with where were out now but it's up to Nick.
Thanks so much for the response. I’ve been following for over a year and looking forward to doing something like that. Only thing is 997 with blown engines cost so much more than 996 lol
have you ever bothered to try and fit a K20? since it is shorter than the k24? wonder if it would work better for some people, might even clear with that skunk2 valve cover
its just how it goes, you build it on your car first then you realize you can do it better on the next happy that linkECU is going to produce the plug and play standalone G4X for the 997
Spark plugs look fun, it can be done I assume? Really cool to bring the link ECU with all the canbussed sniffed and set up! It’s hard to swap cars now days unless you just gut the dashboard. Yeah the problem is not all 996's are drive by wire. Only the 1999+ C4 and 2000+ C2 are DBW. So we'd have to make a separate electronics package for an extremely small amount of cars, which I'm not sure is realistic at this point.

Yeah the trick there is to get a senior controls engineer (me) to do all the CANbus stuff. It's dumb easy (especially compared to newer vehicles that have CRC's, Flex-ray, CAN FD etc.), but you have to know enough to be dangerous. I can personally guarantee that *everything* will work exactly like OEM when we're done with it.
You can get a 4.2+L stroker from Vision for about $25k, dunno what idiot is paying $25k for a factory 3.6L. Just call Vision and get a bulletproof stroker that works on pump gas and passes smog all states.

Ebay, auctions, large salvage yards.
