    What exam strategies do you use in law school?

      As a law student, my exam strategy is studying b4 d exam....focusing more on the output than d input. Thanks 4 this session Professor

    Great interview...my takeaway is that you get out what you put in. An obviously intelligent student invests one hour a night studying and nets a middle of the road results. I guess a good kick in the butt with an average grade lit the fire to quadruple his input netting an output of top student. I wonder if he would have put in the extra effort if he got a B on the midterm. I am always surprised to see students who put in minimal effort in a post graduate program and wash out instead of putting every available moment into it for 3 years to maximize his potential for a lifetime of success. Sounds like Salim figured it out before it was too late!

      I've seen too many students just give up, believing they are failures. One of my students quit law school right after receiving her midterm grades. Sad.

      The goal is to do well on your exams. This means understanding what law school exams are like, and then preparing for them. They are very different from exams you've had in the past.

    I am struggling with the concept in rem / in personam jurisdiction - do you mind explaining it? Or do you know of some resources that can help clarify it?

    • @Learnlawbetter
      @Learnlawbetter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both deal with ways that a court asserts its jurisdiction over a person. In personam is when the court has the authority, or jurisdiction, to hear a case against a person. In rem is when the court has the power over property.

    Hello Professor, if we wish to work a job while attending law school, do you recommend part time law school? Or do you think full time is the best way to invest in law school? Also, I think this is a very realistic/helpful interview for aspiring law students.

    • @Learnlawbetter
      @Learnlawbetter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you plan to work then you need to do part time law school. Students who attempt to work in a full time program tend to fail.

    I just found your channel the other day and im learning alot but i need ro ask a stupid question, hypotheticaly if someone were to be smart enough could they become a lawyer without going to law school and just teach themselves with the internet?

    • @Learnlawbetter
      @Learnlawbetter  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not in the United States. In almost every State, you must first earn a bachelor's degree and then the JD. However, a few State, like California and Virginia, allow you to apprentice with a lawyer and then take the bar exam. But on your own is not an option.

    Sir, my question is related to law in general. Sir, I am currently giving an exam in which I am going to give paper of the subject International Law. I am not a law student so, I wanted to ask you that kindly suggest me a book on international law which I can read and will help me in this regard. I have read "Elements of style" and "Miracle at philadelphia" at your suggestion in one of your video. So kindly guide me here too. I shall be very thankful to you.

      There are several study aid series that might be of use. West Academic produces a “nutshell” series and Carolina Academic Press has the “Understanding” series.
