    Hello friend. Pleased to have found your channel and this informative and clear video. I just bought a brand new computer with Win10 and I'm losing my head this afternoon trying to know everything that would be nice to have to be prepared for future eventual problems. Noticing that you answer every single comment on your video, I'll try to leave also my doubts, and luckly getting also your personal attention for a bit. I have (as of now) 2 doubts, one specifically from this video, and another one so general that probably will take a long answer to solve. But this second doubt is finally what brought me here to your video from the start. So, to the doubts:
    1) It is said at 3:55 that it is possible to create the repair disc onto a USB drive, but the option shown in the video is only to create it in a disc media (CD or DVD). In this manner the Windows 7 works the same way, and I was trying to create this repair disc on an USB drive from my old machine with Win7, without success. Was it your mistake during the video, or is there a way to create this repair disc into a USB drive, instead that on a disc media?
    2) Could you please, really please, explain me clearly as in this video, or point me somewhere where I could have this answer, on the differences between repair disc, recovery drive, system image, set up backup, file history and system restore? How each one works and for whatever reason one should use any of this options.
    Thank you very much!!!!!

      1. When creating a System Image Backup it is not possible to save that image on a USB because the size of the data could be large enough. However, you can use an External HDD to store the image.
      2. System Image is what the video was about. You can create a System Image of 1 or more partitions, which will be a mirror of all the data and state of that drive on that particular date. It could be your Windows Partition or you can also create an image of other partitions but we mostly create system image for partition where Windows is installed. So, in future when you need you can restore the entire partition in the same state. Like, you created a System Image of C Drive where Windows is installed today and after a month if your Windows got corrupt then you can restore that image. But keep in mind that the image will only have 1 month old data or from the date when you had created the image.
      System Restore is different. You can create System Restore points before making some changes to your Windows like installing Drivers. So, if something goes wrong then you can restore back to a point. It is faster and only safe the required data and information when you create a System Restore point. Whereas the System Image take complete backup of the entire drive or drivers.
      Now, let's suppose you are unable to boot into Windows but you have a System Image stored on a partition or external drive. But how will you then restore it when the system is not booting up?
      At that point you can use the Windows Repair Disc, and you need to boot from that drive. It will then start Windows Setup from where you will get different options to repair your Windows installation. Here you will also find the option to Restore your System Image. Here you will also find Startup Repair or Restoring your system back to System Restore Point you had created earlier.
      An advise is to create a System Image of the partition where Windows is installed after you have completely setup the Windows and other applications on it. Then avoid saving your data files on the same partition. In future, you can restore that image and your system will back to the same state when you had created the image. Windows itself can also reset it to a previous state through repair disc with or without data files. But you will lost the other applications and settings that you might have configured.
      Hope this clear everything. Let me know!

    Better to click no, because you can use another drive to created the boot media in another time, this way will not confuse you, if not, you can made mistake creating the boot media in the drive which you have created the system image, which will be delete everything on your drive, better be safe than sorry. The motive of this is in case your pc cannot boot because of virus attack or hardware spoil or not working you can reinstall the window back which you have created both 2 drive

    • @TheTeacher

      +bryant thompson It is better to use a separate disc (External Hard Drive) to store your System Image. You don't believe but today on one of my PC, I had Backup System Image on a separate partition of the same hard disk drive and suddenly the hard disk crashed today. It will backup everything but not sure about the Backup inside a particular software. It totally depends on the software but keep in mind that if you are creating an image of lets say C Drive where Windows is installed then it will backup each file on that drive for that particular date and time.

  • @nono559

    So after everything is done, do you have to go back to your bios and change it back to the original drive to boot from?

    • @TheTeacher
      @TheTeacher  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. You have to change the BIOS to boot from HDD. In case, you might also have another key option to directly bring the Boot Menu (like F10 or F12). Using the Boot key helps you to directly bring the boot menu. This way you don't have to goto BIOS to change the settings and if you use let's say F10 to bring the Boot menu and the boot from USB then the next time after the reboot you don't have to do anything. PC will automatically boot from the previous boot device (like HDD the default one) because when you choose a boot device using the Boot key, it's temporary till next restart. Hope that will help.

      Whereas I think, System Image Recovery is overall good if you don't do much changes to your system configuration regularly including installing and uninstalling apps and configuring different app settings. But keep in mind that if you restore the image it will restore your PC to the date when you had created the image. You can give it a try. I personally used this method on my Internet Cafe. So, instead of manually cleaning all the stuff from those computers, I always restored the images.

    • @TheTeacher
      @TheTeacher  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Let's say you backup all of your drives C,D, and E using System Image on December 22, 2020. After a month, if you will restore the image which includes a backup of 22 December then it will restore all the drives back to that date and will remove all the data that you might have placed after.

    if i have 10 programs installed and configured with certain settings, will image recovery be able to recover the exact status with the 10 programs and the certain settings?

    • @TheTeacher
      @TheTeacher  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. It depends on when you had created the image. I mean, let's say that you created a system image on 06.10.2016 and later you made certain changes in different applications and even installed and uninstalled certain apps. If later you will restore the image then it will revert back to 06.10.2016 with an exact state of windows and all its installed apps on that specific date. All the settings or applications that have been installed after that date will get uninstalled and uninstalled applications will be restored.

      Danil Xu Yes. Upto the image date. Basically, I personally don't store any kind of data on the same drive for which I am creating the image like C Drive. I always store my data on other partitions. Because one thing is sure that if something goes wrong, I will not lose any data but I will manage to reinstall everything from scratch. Because data is much important, right!

    • @TheTeacher
      @TheTeacher  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't need to think about the USB Drive File System if you are planning to boot from the USB. It totally depends on the utility that you are using to create a Bootable USB. Like, in DISKPART we use NTFS and for any special configuration like GPT, I use Rufus to create a Bootable USB having FAT32 file system which Rufus select automatically.
